    Imagine working nonstop for your entire life to perfect this incredibly complex game. Tens of thousands of hours. Scholastic tournaments. Books. Lessons. Staring at endgames and tactics puzzles until you fall asleep. Learning dozens of openings out to ten or fifteen moves and constantly updating your theory. You progress to the point where you are stronger than over 99% of anyone who ever picked up a pawn. Then Magnus gives you eight moves and still beats you while drinking and listening to music.
    I know bullet and classical aren't the same thing, but this is an absolutely mind-blowing display of how good Magnus is.

      Schism Circle you beat GMs without ever studied theory? Yea right

    • @Sanktaaa
      @Sanktaaa 5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @Schism Circle no, grandmasters recognize similar positions from previous matches and games they've played so therefore they don't have to calculate every single line because they've seen the position before.

      Or be like me and just read the rule book along with how the pieces move and trounce everybody based on that knowledge alone. Theory is overrated and intuition is completely useless when one has knowledge of pure logic. Chess is just like tic-tac-toe to me. Just make the right move.

    Magnus joking around with ridiculous troll openings in several games and still wins the tournament over the likes of Andrew Tang who's one of the best online bullet players in the world. Gives his 2800-rated GM opponent 6 free moves and he's winning by move 20. Just unreal.

  • @markedwards9247
    @markedwards9247 6 ปีที่แล้ว +7

    Actually, this was quite instructive.
    If nothing else, it demonstrated how most of the top GM's rely so heavily on opening lines and theory.
    I was amazed at how Carlsens "knight shuffle" completely flummoxed so many GM's.
    How is it possible to give a grandmaster 6 free moves at the start of the game, and still win ?
    So, in the final analysis, the question needs to be asked, that in the modern game, is memory often more important than tactical awareness ? If you had the memory capacity to remember millions of positional solutions, then theoretically, you wouldn't even have to know the rules of chess at all to win.
    So often in tournaments today, we see top players look away from the board, stare at the sky, and then make a move. We all know what's going on.
    Rats in a maze. As long as the maze stays more or less the same, the rats learn the maze. But when a new maze is introduced, only the genuinely smart rats find their way out !

      As long as your opponent has anything besides the king on the board, it is theoretically possible to checkmate them with only the king and a minor piece (although it can usually not be forced). This is, because that extra piece can blockade the kings escape route and thus, checkmate in the corner becomes possible.
