i think a better analogy would be the batman fallacy where he finds the bad guys and takes them to jail only for them to be released once again to create havoc for batman to do the same shit of putting them back in jail.
putting the criminals back in jail is not the solution damnit! you need to take some lead bullets and get rid of them, or in Ubisoft's case, fire them to prevent further spread of the disease.
i mean when you have cancer, do you allow it to spread? or do you cut off the effected area and prevent it from spreading? i think it's pretty fucking clear what they should do.

Hey Luke, from Singapore here, and to add on to the Skull and Bones (S&B) contract: through the grapevine that I heard: the details of the contract is that the Singapore Government wanted to boost the local game industry, and so Ubisoft was allowed to set up at a new tech hub in the country, and leased prime real estate at a subsidized rate.
The two major conditions are that a) the Singapore studio must develop a game, locally, from scratch, and b) hire local talents as a means to boost the local game dev talents. Ubi is still allowed to use the local team to work on major projects like AC Origins and Valhalla, so long as they meet the conditions.
S&B was said local project, and while they hire locals, they also burn through them with their horrible pay and work conditions. Racism exists in the form of language barriers: higher ups (usually from France HQ) refuse to communicate in English, and often ignore anyone who doesn't speak their language. Sexism and sexual harassment is also rampant, and a friend's friend actually went through counselling after working there.
They also hold back pay for workers, and I personally got an insulting offer when I tried to apply some years back. Their reason being that most Singaporeans often live with their parents to their 20-30s, so they don't need as much pay.
For context, most Singaporeans live in the same house to adulthood not because of choice, but rather lack of available and affordable housing. Even most people my generation stay with their parents after marriage because they are still waiting for their homes to be built.
Lastly, their direction and management is absolutely horrendous, with employees working on a project, then suddenly changing direction and focus, all with the old deadline, resulting in a lot of unnecessary crunch and wasted efforts.

All that I've bought from Ubisoft since late 2020 is the Valhalla Season pass for 10 bucks in late 2021 and I still haven't gotten around to playing it because the game is still unstable on PC and crashes a lot ... Actually it's been even longer because I got Valhalla for free with a Ryzen CPU upgrade so really I've bought 1 thing from Ubisoft since I bought the Odyssey Gold edition in late 2018 ..... One of the major issues is that Ubisoft is known within the industry for offering very low wages. The result is that competent and experienced employees don't stay long as they can get much better salaries somewhere else very easily. So the big AAA open world end up being developped by an army of juniors and trainees. You can't expect much from people who are still learning their job so in the end, the best they can produce is a mediocre game at a very high morale and mental cost. Then they just leave at the end of the production and the next game is made by the next human wave of juniors without benefiting from the mistakes and successes of the previous project.

Most recent was Far Cry 6 (support did end up providing me with a new key a week later when I explained the laws of my country in which they were selling a product), and now that I've been primarily playing on Linux, their launcher is just completely killing the mood even when it doesn't delete games.

I worked for a company a few years ago where everyone in an executive position were absolutely terrible human beings that were not self-aware about their faults and were extremely desperate to keep the company running and keep good people on. Instead of looking at the cancer that they were causing they would just deflect and place blame elsewhere and only acknowledge the symptoms of the problems if it bothered them personally. 6 months after I left the company was bought, everyone in a position of authority from directors and executives to the CFO were fired over the course of the next few months... The company has since shut down and all of their assets became the sole property of the parent company that bought them out. Literally just strip them for parts in the end. Hearing all the crap that Ubisoft has done over the last decade reminds me of my old job and if they don't do something about it they're going to go out of business as well while somebody else picks through the ashes of what they burn to the ground.

This is a tale old as time in gaming. A company rises based off their carefully crafted titles made by passionate devs and project leaders , the more money they make the more the company starts to bring in people from outside the industry to maximize profits and share prices, these people (who don’t know anything about the industry) make a bunch of stupid decisions which are blamed on everyone but them causing most of the people who actually care about game design to leave and creating a toxic environment for those who stay, and eventually, the company goes under or is bought up by competitors.

For me Origins, Odyssey and Valhalla are among my favorite games ever; yes, even Valhalla, for all its flaws (I actually respect that they did something different here, good or bad). I also own all FC games, very nice games with memorable characters; even Immortals is a good game, very underrated. You're right Luke: I don't see this company all of a sudden starting to make good decisions. I don't expect the next big AC game to be a splendid single player game, with no micro transactions and with a simple menu with no links to a store (like God of War is); on the contrary. As for Mirage, I'm not a fan of the old school AC games, so I don't care whether it will be good or bad. I don't know, maybe a quake is needed for them to go back and to start creating again good single player games.

real question is would anyone really care if UBI went under? even the most die hard asscreed, division and watch dogs fans can rest east because when stuff like this happens new studios rise up from the ashes and you will get spiritual successors to the games that belonged to the companies that have fallen apart. Those new studios in many cases are formed by the same people that made those previous games but now they are under way different management.
