It's an awesome place, Ile Ste. Marie is what put Madagascar on my radar. Make sure you have a scuba diving licence too, if you can; it's excellent there.
Could you talk about Zone Rouge in France? It's among the most toxic places on earth rivaled only by Chernobyl. I was reading a little about it and apparently some of the top soil there is up to 17% arsenic.

Good for tourism but it's part of the popular memento mori theme on gravestones. I'm not saying none of them are pirate, but not all of them are.

The chapter called my business is piracy. Made me think of Megadeth album called Killing is my business and business is good.
Perhaps it was intentional. Simon’s authors have proved themselves to be fine music connoisseurs in the past.
If I'm part of Captain Green Beard's crew, and he died, and I'm burying him, why would he put our treasure in his grave? I can understand the Captain wanting to keep some of the booty in a safe place in case the next raid fails but he and some of his crew survive. But, really, he probably figures if the next raid fails, he's not going to survive.

I wish the constantly displayed map had been more specific. It appears to contain at least two islands, one named Marie and the other named Abraham. They are highlighted for some reason. To the left of the map is something that might be Africa or Madagascar, but I don't know which. So, where is Nosy Boraha?

Ancient pirate crews of multiple generations visiting the same places for generations centuries apart leaving grave stones. New captains take command and make their own legacy. Questionable folks but they had their own code so to speak. Paradise sadly ending in tragidy. The Navy often pardoned pirates who reformed their ways, becoming pirate hunters. These are our stories lol. A navy of Pirates versus a more experienced navy of pirate hunters. And the locals going....."guys....get off the grass.....seriously I just mowed the lawn....son of a....!".

Course the Swedish empire was big, but this is the first I herd of swedes trying conquer territory outside of Europe
We did own a couple of islands in the carribbean (sold in the early 1800's i think) and also a colony in the area of New York IIRC in the 1600's
the only colony Sweden had for a long time was Saint-Barthélemy in the Caribbean but there were also a few other shorter lived swedish colonies like New Sweden in the present day US and the Swedish Gold Coast in present day Ghana.
