Thanx dude. One wouldn't believe that Brass is found in Plug Prongs ( but most are slightly Coated hence " dirty Brass" price) Prongs inside Surge Protectors and Electrical boxes. Ceiling fans( not all but check), garden hose Ends, Zippers on most pants. One may think it's brass. Bullets! Some are Brass with a silver color coating. Sometimes it's Aluminum:(. 20 years ago Brass and Aluminum were both 35 cents a pound. We get $2.30 per pound. One Scrapyard didny care if it were chrome plated ( usually found on Beer Keg plumbing ) Lol they even took Water faucets! Lotta plastic and sometimes metal plate. I meticulously take them apart - there is Copper in there. It all adds up! Almost forgot- Bronze gets Brass price. In 20 years Ive only seen 2 Bronze items. 10:2324:56

Found a brass headboard once being thrown out. Took less than an hour to take out the metal bolts and cashed in for a hundred bucks. Easy money if you can find it!
You could use your vise or hammer to flatten/squish the tubing and fold it. I feel like cutting it up would be kind of a waste. You wouldn't need to do the whole tube just wherever you would cut it. But, if you did flatten the full length, you could save even more room in your buckets. Or, maybe it'll just crumble.
I think you’re right, it definitely would take up Less space. The reason I hadn’t done that is it’s too much hammering for my worn out shoulder lol but I like your thinking. Thank you for watching a couple videos

I know they can be worth money but finding a person to actually buy it is the challenge. I live in a small community. The lamp was offered for free and after two weeks of no one taking it, I decided I’d take it and scrap it.

Very insightful video, thanks for sharing. Several questions come to mind. Is there a difference in what the scrap yards pay between brass and bronze and if so how do you separate one from the other. The other thing is where do you find all haul like that.
Thank you for watching. Yes, some scrap yards pay a different price for bronze, but most don’t. Yellow brass will look very yellow and bronze will look like a faded copper-ish color. I tell as many people I know that I scrap and they’ll call me when they have stuff or know of people with scrap. Dumpster diving or driving the streets on garbage day is another way to find scrap people are throwing away. Placing ads in local papers saying you’ll haul away scrap for free is another option.
I live next to a storage facility has a locked gate luckily the owner got me a key for it in the storage facility has a dumpster the owner lets me bust glass in the dumpster and yes i wear gloves and goggles
The best brass things are urinals, (boys/men's room with 360 degree flusher valve) you have to take them apart because there is a peice of steel in the middle. They are removing them everywhere and they are heavy!

@@smitchlego it’s just gold plating, not solid gold. You can melt it but there will be other metals in with it and you’ll never get paid any good value for it. Acids or sell the stuff as is, are the only two options.
At my yard it doesn’t matter if there’s paint on brass or aluminum, it’s considered clean, but I do know some yards will downgrade you for paint on them. Definitely separate the painted ones until you know how your scrap yard classifies them. Thank you for watching.

Boardsort.com is a great place to sell that sort of stuff. Otherwise you’ll have to use acids to extract the gold. I sell to Boardsort.com
