Thanks for posting. I need to take the upper fairing off of a 2011 rt to get at the ignition due to broken cable for the seat release. Not only was your video informative it was entertaining. Some video I watch and have trouble nor nodding off, but your's wasn't like that at all. Thumbs up 👍🏼. I enjoy listening to the accents too....... I know you don't have an accent 😉
Oh man I hear ya! I get asked all the time why I don't do more Spyder repair and service videos... It can really be tough, and requires a lot of editing. Even employees walk up and ask (with the record light flashing), "are you recording this?" Well, I was...! Lol
This is most helpful as my 2014 RT may need to replace the ignition and DESS module as the trike keeps letting me down. Yes, it won't start and the dreaded DESS Error comes up way too often like just after refuelling at a gas station. Is DESS designed by Can Am to stop the owners having fun out on the road?
Must of been difficult to do with your helmet on, all that for an ignition switch..... WOW. This was really great to watch your like one of those guys at a race track zipping around. Cattle guards lol we call em Bullbars
I had the GoPro head strap mount on for this video. Looks like one of those miner's lights with the elastic head band, but with the GoPro replacing the light... I couldn't remember the name of those 'Bullbars'... I knew someone from down under would eventually correct me... Lol Thanks WM2869 !
WOW all that for the switch, Hay Hope im not out of place asking a question here< but my RT SM5 2012 has a nickel sized button on the clutch pivot point with adjustable 1 through 4 that doesnt seem to make any difference in the clutch handle feel, what is its purpose, just curious, thanks
They bury the ignition switch like that to make the bike more secure, which is cool unless you need to replace it for some reason... Lol That clutch lever knob adjusts the distance of the clutch lever from the handlebar. 1 should have the least amount of reach to the lever, and 4 the farthest reach. Other than being adjustable for hand sizes, it has no effect on the operation of the hydraulic clutch. Thanks for watching and commenting Rich!
Hay, great response, how ever, I took a micrometeorite and checked the lever travel and found that 1 had the most reach, only about 1/2 inch difference between 1 and 4 (4 was the shortest through) any way the total difference is almost undetectable, thanks for getting back to me, im new to the spyder thing, ill probably be asking more questions, Rich in pan handle Idaho
Lol, yeah so true .. Remember where u left the damn driver ..lol .. Famous for that one .. Crazy how u know where all the screws are ..lol.. Not like your taking it apart n like ohh damn it .. Is there another screw lol.. Goooood darn it it takes so much to take this thing apart .. Damnnn... So used to the buell/hd .. Reach In grab ... Pull push in start .. Ride lol... Man I don't think I would want one out of warranty .. In warranty hell yes .. Saw more than a couple of these in virginia ..
Lol, these things are pretty wild to work on for sure... That may have something to do with my overwhelming attraction to very basic and simple motorcycles. Thankfully, the Spyders don't have a lot of issues that have you digging into them like this... Thanks dbest1a!
...there's a picture in today's 'Sun' newspaper of Simon Cowell on a Spyder, barefoot!.....probably due to not having to put your feet on the ground - but how do you change gear barefoot?!? The concept of these vehicles isn't really 'new' as Morgan began with these 3 wheelers in the 1930's with cool v-twin exposed engines at the front.....talk about 'air-cooled' ! Of course this isn't a car with seats and a steering wheel...but maybe Spyder SHOULD manufacture one as an alternative model for car buffs!!!
Simon was probably riding a semi-automatic model that has shift paddles on the left handlebar... I've seen photos of the Morgan 3-wheeler... Looked like a Harley motor in it, if I remember correctly.Who knows what BRP may do next? An automotive versions sure sounds cool...!Thanks for watching and commenting!
Good grief, all that to get to the ignition. so if someone with no warranty had you change that part, would be looking at some serious labor time. wow ! Doesn't look like a DIY job.
The crazy thing is, BRP only pays us 1.3 hours for the ignition switch and rear trunk tumbler replacement required for this bulletin... Maddening! Thanks for watching Mike!

FYI in the video a guy was asking about the chrome bump skid. It is made by Show Chrome (Big Bike Parts). You can get it from Value Accessory for $99.
is their any way to show after the 12 min mark on removing the whole top console off?
Hello, I have a can am spider 2008, it's burnt, now I'm fixing it, I don't have a key. It turns on but does not turn on. What do I need to do it?

How many hours would you estimate to move everything from a damaged frame to a new frame ?

I wish you went a little more in depth with the tear down, I been hitting my mirrors for for like 15 mins and they’re still on the fkin bike.
