    Thank you for your expertise reactions. Stray kids rarely use green screens. They build actual sets most of the time. They have a video of them making this video. You can see how they did the split screen. The whole video and song, yes, should have won some kind of award. Stray kid's videos and concepts and play on words is the best in the kpop industry. Not saying other videos are not good, that would be stupid to say. I am saying stray kid's music videos are top tier.

    At 8:50 actually the bottom part of the scene is a green screen and they are walking on top of it, so when he jumps down he is actually jumping down in front of the green screen and starts dancing, there is a video where they show how they recorded the whole thing.

    OMG you said something about foreshadowing in the shining and now I put 2 and 2 together. In the scene you mentioned, there was a picture of a tiger above the fireplace and another next to the door. Tiger pictures were used for the 5 star album later because of a collab with Tiger JK (same artstyle and all). This was a foreshadow for their next album. These guys are brilliant.

    Oh, also if no one has mentioned them, take a look at their teaser videos for the Oddinary album release, they are like little tiny movies. It is so fun to watch them before you watch the MVs .They make you mad with curiosity, but satisfied with their tiny slice of storytelling, reveal enough content so you feel like you know what's coming up, while at the same time completely misleading you so it is totally fresh and engaging when you watch the video. The teasers for the NoEasy album were fun too, but the Oddinary ones are little masterpieces.

    Stray Kids MVs are on the next level. Their transitions are insane. Would love to see more SKZ.

  • @jadefrog
    @jadefrog ปีที่แล้ว +55

    Stray Kids work with the best video editors in the business, their MVs are next level, and they are top line storytelllers. They always have a great grasp on what they are trying to say, even if it is a bit mysterious to viewers. They also often double themselves, such as in this video, where they play the ones gobsmacked by love, and also the "love police", trying to keep those unruly hearts in line. I second the suggestion to look at their "making of" videos. They keep them fun for the fans, with cute interactions and silly "missions" and so on, but there are always good chunks of information on how the actual nuts and bolts work was done.
    For more Stray Kids, from an editing viewpoint, Circus is really outstanding, Thunderous is great, God's Menu is iconic, Maniac is pretty next level as well--as usual with Skz, both the music itself and the videos and editing are special. Those are the most often viewed MVs. If you want to delve into some of their less often viewed but still amazing MVs, All In is fun, Easy is cool, Lonely Street and Winter Falls are interesting with a different sadder feel., and their older work, like Side Effects, Miroh, and Double Knot might feel already a bit dated since they were using some cutting edge effects at the time which have since been a bit overused, but the videos are all still really cool to watch and the editing is ace on them all. They really don't work with second raters.
    For a really fun time, you could look at their first ever MV, which came out before they even debuted as a group, as promotion for their conception/survival show, called Hellevator. It shows both what talent they started off with, and also how much their parent company, JYPE, was willing to invest in their success, because for a brand new unknown group, it is pretty high quality video and editing (actually, pretty high quality by any standard, if you are not comparing them to the best of the best such as their current MVs). There are still some in the fandom who say this is their favorite Stray Kids song and video. (I personally think they keep getting better, but it's still a great song and video).

      @RM_formerlyjustRMbutYTsucks ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I applaud this entire comment. And I'll add to the suggestion that there's something to be gained from seeing the video work for nearly every MV. For ones with a feel that's a bit different from some of the big title tracks, the aforementioned Winter Falls and Lonely St are great. And I'd add some others in that "softer" vein, like Levanter and Scars and whatnot. In videos like all those, there's maybe not so much of the big, obviously impressive stuff that stands out in the "loud" tracks, but the detail and conceptual work result in some of their most aesthetically gorgeous videos.

    • @aryannajay1034
      @aryannajay1034 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@CCrizzic I would like to add that since skz are self produced, the company doesn’t have to pay for producers and such which in turn lets them spend sooo much more on video production and editing, so this is the reason they have some of the best videos plus coming from a company like JYPE also helps tremendously.

    • @jadefrog
      @jadefrog ปีที่แล้ว

      @@RM_formerlyjustRMbutYTsucks Yes, I agree, and thanks for your additional recommendations. I love the Levanter video and think the choreography for that one is some of the best around, very beautiful and really brings out the meaning of the lyrics. I have a hard time keeping the number of videos I recommend to new Skz reactors down to a reasonable number, and I always worry about recommending too many, since it can be overwhelming. In this case, since CCrizzic is an editor, I tried to choose ones that have really interesting editing. I think both Lonely St and Winter Falls are fairly sophisticated as far as video editing and storytelling so I recommended them as representatives of the softer side.

    • @jadefrog
      @jadefrog ปีที่แล้ว

      @@aryannajay1034 Yes, they are self-produced, and they also work in collaboration with other producers on at least 75% of their major releases--Chan loves to shout out thanks to them. Stray Kids/3Racha are top notch collaborators and very respected by other producers they've worked with.
      You might enjoy SavageKingz recent series on Stray Kids Teamwork, it is really interesting and well done. The first one has a clip of an interview with one of the JYP producers who often works with 3Racha. He was just glowing with compliments on how wonderful they are to work with, and overall both the teamwork videos he's put out are very interesting. He's got the first general one and the DanceRacha one, and has a script for VocalRacha, and plans for one on 3Racha. I highly recommend them and would love for more folks to see them.

    I know you've had a bunch of other videos recommended, but I'd also ask that you add "Miroh" to the list because the tiger and maze references you mentioned earlier also turn up there and looking into those connections could be fun. Stray Kids do actually have lore that gets uncovered through their mv's and unveil videos (though it's not always as obvious as with other groups) so it can be a lot of fun to piece together the details.

    This was such a good reaction, and so much fun to watch. Stray Kids have some of the best MVs out there. (I am not even a little biased here).
    If you are interested to see more Stray kids content, especialy from video editing perspective, I think God's Menu and Thunderous are really interesting and the editing and directing superb.
    Probably others have already mentioned this, apologies, I didn't have time to check the previous comments, but Stray Kids are heavily self written and self produced and for me the MVs help convey their message to the audience to another level, which is really cool.
    Good menu is one of my fav tracks and
    Thunderous is a track from their album called "Noeasy" which is a combination of the word noisy and easy.
    They use many traditional Korean elements in the track and the MV is really cool. The track is a response to the haters that have critisized their music as "noise music". And in tippical Skz fashion, their response is "thank you, we will come back noisier than before and will do it even better"
    I really love their attitude to life , in so many aspects. Hope to see you on YT again some day with another Stray Kids reaction. You are so good at explaining things and seem to really enjoy what you do. 🌞

    I second/third/whatever all the recommendations to watch the making films for their MVs. With most of what they use being practical, it's fun to see how they make things work.
    The Shining's carpet reference first appeared in an earlier MV: Venom (along with references to The Last Supper as well as "Rest Energy" by Marina Abramović and Ulay. Back Door references The Creation of Adam. And there are dozens of other types of visual, lyrical, and audial details throughout their entire videography. SKZ's video details are excruciatingly fine and elements span all the way back from their most recent to their very first. Some are thematic, some are connected to lore, and some are easter eggs for the fandom (though that one happens more in the trailers). They launched this album trilogy with a horror-thrilleresque theme in the ODDINARY trailers, and despite this second album (Case 143 is from MAXIDENT, the middle album in this era trilogy) having their first overarching love concept, they managed to continue the era's horror theme here. Odds are good that when the third album in the trilogy drops, it too will somehow incorporate related elements while also making them complement the concept of the album.
    Honestly, the majority of SKZ's videos will probably be fun for you to pick apart. But one that's pretty much handed over on a silver platter of obvious homage is Give Me Your TMI. And if you're someone who might also appreciate a masterpiece of simplicity and subtlety (in terms of details and storytelling, not necessarily props and whatnot -- chains and choking and looming over each other in bed aren't terribly subtle), with some great lighting work and such, Red Lights is pure art. And I'd be interested to see if you pick up on the _real_ meaning/story in it as opposed to the surface suggestion.
    Most of that "jumping from top screen to bottom screen" scene was actually just two practical shots. That upper screen is an elevated platform, and he legitimately jumped down, landed, and continued the dance in perfect time by himself (because he's the dance leader and can do that kind of thing) so he could just be edited directly into the bottom scene that the others filmed and match their timing. Getting the eight of them to march properly together in the top shot actually took more time, effort, and takes than Lee Know nailing that jump-and-dance. Seriously, the making films will make your day if you watch them.
    Nope, those sets are practical. They're impressive to see raw. Even the giant heart monsters are real (so to speak).
    In terms of endings, this one was intended to have a resolution -- that's where the "rewind and redo" part comes in. They accepted the situation and decided to jump in. With other MVs on this album, that's not necessarily the case. Ditto for earlier MVs -- Freeze, for example, just ends hard with the abrupt song cutoff and then gives us the shocking news scene after the song ends. Limbo (which doesn't have an MV unfortunately) literally ends so suddenly that the listener is left hanging...in limbo. Side Effects is as disorienting visually as it is audially and lyrically. God's Menu is pure and very deliberately structured chaos to match not just the song's sound and lyrics but even its construction. Lonely St is isolated and pointed. Christmas EveL is another MV with lots of hilarious homage elements, right down to the old-timey Christmas shows. Blueprint, like Red Lights, is another example of fantastically simple visual elements and use of color (albeit VERY different from Red Lights). The full Mixtape storyline (Grow Up [optional prequel], On Track, the B Me unveil video, OH, and ending with The View) is an entire drama from beginning to end -- and since the lyrics are basically unrelated to the MV story arc, they had to succeed in telling the whole multi-episode story with only visual content. And so on. Basically, they're really good at matching the video and storytelling elements to the song elements. (Again: Red Lights, holy sh1t.)

    Gracias por tus reacciones, son divertidas. Tienes razón en las referencias al hotel. En este caso, el Amor toma posesión de Stray Kids (por eso el pollo se mueve, cuando Félix habla queda poseído). En realidad pelean el sentido común contra el amor( o las emociones que enamorarse conlleva), o el cerebro contra el corazón. La policía intenta evitar estás emociones, para no salir herido, después trata de entender estás emociones, pero al final deciden desconectarlas y no arriesgarse, ahí es donde entra en corto circuito el corazón y la mente( ve el talker de este vídeo). Por fin, al ver el cortocircuito, el corazón y cerebro se ponen de acuerdo y deciden juntos arriesgarse, por eso rebobinan todo. El telón negro, o la oscuridad en la que aparecen al final, después de romper la pantalla, significa que no saben en que terminara está decisión, pero de igual manera siguen adelante. Puedes seguir con Chill, MTI y Súper Board?. Me encantaría conocer tú opinión. Gracias.

      This was very great information and the entire idea for this video is genius. Easily one of my top 3 kpop videos out of the ones we've reacted to so far 🙂❤️ thank you for breaking it all down!

    I have a suggestion on another kpop artist you can react to. No pressure to do so though, Ik you already have a lot of requests. Tomorrow X Together (TXT) is very talented and has many great songs and mvs. “Angel or devil,” “can’t you see me,” “frost,” and “good boy gone bad” only name a few. Also for frost there’s a performance and music video. I prefer the performance video but the music video is great too.

    Hello! This video popped up on my tl and I wonder if you can also react to ATEEZ's Halazia? It's their recent release and the MV is very cinematic. I also wanna know your insights about it cuz I really liked your commentary here, it's informative.
