That's a really good question. There are so many ways to play a game. This was the way I was taught, and yes it can make it much harder. So that's a great way to learn resilience xox

That's a good question. There are several ways to deal with a deadlock. 1 Call it the end of the game. Shuffle the cards well and start again. 2 Some people think this is cheating, but I know folk who take the top card from the pile in their hand, when they're in deadlock, and go through that pile again. It's a slight shuffle and can help you move a few more cards. 3 I've even seen folk shuffled the entire pile in their hands to see if they can move a few more cards! Really it's up to you. I hope you and your granddaughter have fun playing xox
I've never heard of more than one person playing it. The way I play each person would need their own pack and play their own game... or one could watch over the other's shoulder and point out moves to make.
