@@marthamaywhovier5962 That was something that stood out to me A LOT in this series - Sarah J Mass just hates poor people an ungodly amount. Every single 'good' character is also noble or rich
I find it crazy that authors write love-interests that are distantly related and somehow think it's completely okay...like some people are still going to feel weird abt it. Later in the series, SJM tries to 'fix' this problem by saying that Rowan's bloodline is so distant from Aelin's that she's probably more related to Chaol than she is to him, which is absolutely crazy bc Chaol was also her love interest. Let's not forget that Aelin and Dorian are also related and they dated. In one series, SJM somehow managed to create two incestual relationships while also insinuating a third, all of which include Aelin.
I remember reading these in middle school and I think this is the second to last of the books I read. The shift to her becoming a fey princess retaking her kingdom felt so jarring, like her being an assassin didn't really matter much past this point. And the way the books kept on getting more and more explicit felt so uncomfortable especially since I was reading them at around twelve years old lol. I really liked Manon though, and I'm so disappointed to hear the direction her plotline went by the final book.
I agree. Manon is definitely a favorite. The witch’s interest me because that lore was fresh and fun. Her ideas are all over the place but she is talented.
The last book was a downgrade from badass to generic good side character. Oh, there is baggage of complex questions, that her past relationships are bringing? Just drop them. Easy peasy. She is not romanticly involved with a hot man? Quick throw her in the love octangle!
i keep having to double check if i'm watching these videos in the right order because everything feels like it's coming completely out of nowhere?? i have no idea how you made it through, you are truly god's strongest soldier.
I kinda liked Rowan and Aelin (ignoring the age gap) but rethinking it now because I didn’t realize they were RELATED. Changes a whole perspective to the books, like why SJM 😭. You could’ve just as easily made that not a thing, like it doesn’t come back in the books and isn’t important to the story lmao😭
There's a lot of pedantic arguments a person can make about the validity of their distant-familial pairings but I think people are really underestimating how easy it is, when writing a book, to make the two romantically involved characters not related. It actually takes out a huge chunk of work because you don't have to write the long awkward "well you're only distantly related so it's like fine it barely even counts you wouldn't even attend the same reunions. it's mostly marriage anyway" when you can just. not do that and have them not be related at all fdskjd. I'm also not even sure about the "if you go back far enough" argument (not as in arguing with you but as in 'as a defence of fictional incest') because it kind of presupposes an adam and eve scenario rather than the one that exists. if you go back far enough the distance you had to be from a relative to have kids with them without making your mutual grandparents upset shrinks significantly but I'm not sure that's the slam dunk people want it to be, especially in a fairy scenario when literally anything you want can be true. I've liked a lot of books that in a historical setting will allow for cousin marriages to exist, but in an ostensibly modern fantasy it always kind of makes me go 🤔 like nobody had to. is the thing.
The emotional rollercoaster I went on from being so excited you posted a new video to being so upset that the fae cousin male love interest has the same name as me 💀💀💀
Now that I've finished this entire series I wanted to come back and drop some of my favorite unhinged plot points and events of the later books. It has no effect on their lives.

I enjoyed the first few books but when I got to heir of fire, outside of Manon, I just couldn’t care. Rowan is cool in that he challenges her but the cousin stuff on top of how shitty he goes about “showing how he cares” made me want her to hate him like she did Chaol but no. She’s basically sold her soul to this man. I finished heir of fire and they’re all a cute little girly pop love story but I want her to find someone else.

when i needed her most the queen returned
Watching this review is even better when I have no other context for the book or any of the rest of the series. No idea what's going on 🎉
OMG you're back!! Really enjoy your videos and I'm very excited to watch this one 🎉🎉
TELL A FRIEND SHES BACK
Am pretty sure that there is so much pov because throne of glass want to be a epic fantasy and that having multiple pov characters is a epic fantasy thing
Yesss she’s backk!!
it’s so funny bc this is as far as i got before i couldn’t take it anymore 😅
i spent half of this video being very confused (but entertained!) until i realised i hadnt seen the previous video and thats why idk any of these characters 😂
I feel like you then stopped, watched the previous video, returned, and still feel exactly the same. 😂
Or maybe it's just me?
completely forgot about Aiden until you mentioned him and then immediately remembered shipping him with Chaol. making that the third thing i remember about this series lmao
10:57 the little shimmy she does when she says the king😂
Nice. I have a handholding ick, myself. I hate intermingling the fingers. Basically, hold my hand like we're wearing mittens, or I'm done.
Ive never read this series and have no idea whats going on but am so entertained
i am so glad that i am not the only lesbian to suffer through these books for next to no reason. I used to listen to these audiobooks with my sibling and we'd cringe and have fun, but we live apart now so having this series was nostalgic and cathartic. thank you!
😂 I missed you.
Also both ways you said Wyverns was correct. Pick the one you like
Abraxos? -ACOTAR senses tingle- 🙈
Stinky vibes… 😭
Havent seen any of the other book videos before this, a trip of a story to hear.
So glad you're back! 😂
eyyy girl welcome back >>>
25:57 - a little freak out session in the kitchen does not even begin to describe what Celaena did. I listened to that on audiobook and was actively pulling my hair out.
Clicked so fucking fast
Edit: I’m so sorry…Kale is spelled CHAOL????
Edit edit: congrats on graduating!!!!!
love the video!! however please be aware that sk*nwalkers are from Native American culture and it's very disrespectful to say or write their full name (hence why i censored it). they're not a cool cryptid to use in a story. i know that's sjm's fault for including them but we should all respect the request of the culture they come from.
love your videos, i listen to them a lot during my long drawing sessions!!
I didn’t know this! How does one respectfully refer to them out loud?
@@alittlefrog2395 I'm not sure, honestly, but there's probably plenty of info on it because it's such a common issue. that sounds bad but what I mean is it shouldn't be hard to find 😅
What? Sarah J Maas used a cultural symbol without fully looking into what it actually means? _shocking_
(Big ol /s, also all my animosity is directed at the author, not you or book club)
No but I actually feel so happy rn
WELCOME BACK QUEEN
ive missed youuuu! now that youre done with throne of glass may i suggest "one of us is lying"... its so bad but its short! just one book so less torture than a series 👀
OMG UR FINALLY BACCCKKKKKK YAYYY
MISSED YOU QUEEN
I LOVE YOUR VIDEOS PLS DONT STOP POSTING 💕💕
