It’s because Blount was simply a good RB but not much more. He benefitted from a Tom Brady led offense which provided many red zone opportunities for him. He could beat up on lesser defenses but never did much against the great ones.
@@KEYBEATZ Curtis Martin is still the best RB the Pats have ever had...That mid90s Pats offense that got to SB31 got there because of him while the NFL was still a smashmouth running game based game a decade away from beginning to transition into the pass happy game its been for the last 15yrs...with all due respect to Blount he benefitted from playing on the Pats when he did they had the leagues best QB its best TE its best slot receiver for all practical purposes teams base defenses are their nickel and dime defensive packages being a RB is not the same task as it was for the 1st 40 or so yrs of the SB era. The best single season performance a Pats RB that Ive watched has had was Corey DIllon in 2004-1600+rush yards 4.7ypc and 12rushing tds in only 15 games played missed about half of 2of those 15 games as well... Blount only had 2 1000+yd seasons in his entire career...His 18tds in 2016 is an outstanding achievement and he was a vital contributor to 2 sb winning teams, but I cant imagine what a C.Dillon woulda done in that era and those offensive teammates, and Curtis never had the benefit of that combo either...
Lowkey he was the best imo. With all due respect to Curtis Martin, Blount helped Brady rediscover success after a 10 year drought of not winning a Super Bowl. From that moment on in 2015 Brady would win every OTHER year until retirement. Blount was a huge reason for him getting that groove back. Nobody wanted the smoke with him. They saw him punch that Boise state player back in college. Nobody ever gave Blount Problems on the field 😂.
Remember having him and few others at my apt in college. Dude was so big and looked nothing like an RB. He was bigger than K Rowe, Stuckey, and Pleasant, all who were LBs on that team. Faster then all em too. Having Blount, Johnson, and Lamichael gave Oregon the best backfield in the Nation easily. In practice none of the starters had to bang w/ him when the 1s played each other. They made scout team who were just walk ons happy to get gear and jerseys on game day have to match w/ him when they put the shells on lol.
Man ii miss having LG as our RB , he helped us win not 1 but 2 SB's lol... Dnt get me wrong now , D.Harris & R.Stevenson are beast as well but boyyyy Blount was jus DIFFERENT yo!¡!¡ He was tha 1st Derrick Henry type running-back , absolutely destroying folks on tha field!.!.! #BlountForceTrauma #PatsNation
2,917 rush yards and 34 tds in less than four seasons, I wish we had him on the team a lot earlier. Absolute monster and very crafty, once he got in gear it was hard to get him down. Pats hall of famer no doubt!
I used to watch blunt in tampa hurdle over ppl and i was like "this guy is freaking good" and when the pats traded for him that was it i was so happy lol
GREAT VIDEO!!! If the Patriots keep Blount they get one more ring & the Eagles don’t go to the Super Bowl. Blount was like putting a fast, pissed off rhino with swift feet & jukes on the field. He made tacklers hurt before halftime. Best example is at 8:05. He’s at the sideline & puts his shoulder down towards a defender like saying “b!tch you’re not getting out of this play without this ball carrier hitting you hard.” It’s like Bechick told him if he couldn’t score a TD he had to throw a crushing hit on someone that would be illegal if it wasn’t done by a ball carrier.
Blount was one of the best all-around backs the Pats have ever had. I'd put Corey Dillon and Curtis Martin at 1 and 2, but Blount takes the third spot. Nothing against Antowain Smith, but Blount just wore other teams out and had incredible burst, explosiveness, and toughness--I can't remember one of his carries that ended without at least 2 defenders hanging onto him for dear life. If I was drafting an all-time Pats team, I'd carry four backs: Martin, Dillon, Blount, and Kevin Faulk, with James White being next in line.
Was one of my favorite players when he was on the team! I remember when I had him on my phone case, then i was at the airport and I saw a giant man that looked familiar had a ton of designer bags with him and ofc clothes, but he was wearing sunglasses and a hood so I wasn’t exactly sure who he was…then I googled his wife( who was their) just to prove it was actually him and it was!! So I went up to him and got a picture. His hands were absolutely massive, he dapped me up and his hand went all the way past my wrist 😂😂. I remember him saying “you got a good eye, not too many people can recognize me when I’m like this” and then I showed him my phone case and he said “oh you’re a legit fan that’s why.” Such and awesome moment and he was super nice, he asked if I wanted him to sign the case but none of had a marker and we didn’t want to draw any more attention to him, but a picture did just fine. Talk about a great way to start a vacation. This was also while he was in the eagles so we talked to smack back and fourth about him leaving the pats😂
Now this interaction sounds cool as hell bro... Not only was u able too meet tha man , u got to take a 📷 & tlk SMACK back n forth 😂!¡! Thts LEGENDARY man
Remember how we traded Jeff fucking Demps for this guy? Pretty sure he never ended up even playing in the league, and we got a beastly power back for essentially a bag of chips. Great trade.
I remember we traded for em on draft day and was, eh okay we will see cause i didnt watch alotta tampa bay back then. Then i saw em here and was like, oh shit!!!
And people really want to talk about the deflate gate with the Colts. They ran LeGarrette Blount the whole game.😂 because of the rain 🌧️ my men’s had 360 yards 3or4 tD’s … my Bad just had to put that out there 😂 that’s season got me mad😢
Very talented guy, could run past you, around you, over you, or through you. Ridiculus regular season RB. He just always seemed to drop off during the playoffs, except when he played for the Eagles AGAINST the Pats.
The man had a 1k Yard - 18 Touchdowns season and wasnt named a pro bowler which is insane
Broke our td record for a rb that year he was unstoppable at the goal line

@@divinedude9889 idkkkk he ran pretty hard bro they would stack the box at the goal line and he’d still punch it in
@divinedude9889 you didn't watch LG and it shows
Shit how bout the Buccaneers runs, the 50+/- vs the Packers, his finest run as a pro
Even tho his time wasn’t super long on the Pats he was one of our best running backs in a long time
He was the best running back the Pats ever had period

Legend. Loved watching him run. Fast enough to break through the tackles- big enough to level you. Truly great running back
Holy remarkably jump over d while in stride!
No fast enough but
No prone injuries
No problems fumbling
A lot of heart in every snap
That and most made him funny to watch

Henry now. Blunts a beast
Jamal Lewis?
Adrian Peterson wtf how do u forget him
Steven Jackson
You must not watch a lot of football lol he's not fast at all
This man is the beast
This was such a beautifully drawn up rushing offense with pulling guards and Blount reading the defense perfectly

I really think so as well
Dont see many runners like him just 6 years later

Love the Blount Smoke, but damn, gotta show all them Postseason running TD's vs the Andrew Luck led Colts, 1 of those games was deflategate
Thank you for this amazing James Develin highligght reel.
No really, keep an eye out for #46 throughout this video.
100%. Watch Gronk too. The reason why he’s the best tight end to ever play the game in my opinion is evident in this video. Great run blocker
Legarrette Blount was dangerous
Best RB in Patriots history
I watched him at Oregon and for someone so big if you let him get up to full speed he was legitimately fast after he ran over a few guys of course
he was our marshawn lynch. bro did everything possible as our RB at the time.. missing tha dude on offense rn
I don’t know what he did to not get any recognition but I think he’s probably in my top five everywhere. He went. He got a chip I’m just saying.
BLOUNT FORCE TRAUMA!!!!!
Faulk was my favorite for our first Dynasty, Blount and White were my favorites for our second Dynasty
If he was drafted by the Patriots from the beginning he’s a hall of famer. This was an elite running back.
One of the best RB's Oregon ever had.
I remember him micd up on that Seattle SB win. He was going through it "you know how that momentum be bro😢"
Remember how we traded Jeff fucking Demps for this guy? Pretty sure he never ended up even playing in the league, and we got a beastly power back for essentially a bag of chips. Great trade.
Give me a bruiser/hammer like Blount over a flashy RB any day
What a beast.
I would do usian bolt, troy palumalu and Blounts daily regimen in seasons and practice them on ice skates for better balance
What an absolute beast
Power and speed… great combo.
To this day, the Indianapolis Colts have nightmares about him.
The legarrett era was some fun times.🎉
Deion Sanders best quote was during a Lagarette Blount Highlight “Somebody hit that Blount”
He was like Beastmode
Running backs room needs to view this!!

Miss him
The three headed beast the Patriots used to have
- James White
-Sony Michell
- Legarrette Blount
Kickoff return @ 1:24 number 18 lead block can you hear the carnage?
i really wonder what went wrong with him after the eagles and lions 😔
I don't believe he ever played for the Lions, did he? I know he was with the Steelers and Titans briefly
@@dallasoliver1933 yeah, 2018 he played with them for only a year and i think he’s back into free agency now

Blount force trauma !

Two words: Business Decision!
6:54 is demigod stuff
Lmao 1:12 mad a business decision.

Yoo
Colts fans gotta hate LG he got hella TD’s fr
He was like a discount marshawn lynch, made the pats even better.
He was before marshawn too
LGBTD
most overrated player I’ve seen in my 16 years of life ,only got hype cause he played for the pats
Bro if you think he is overrated just look at the accolades, nobody comes close to comparing. You need help
Very clutch player and leader for the pats when he was there. Great player. Not over rated bad take.
Must be a colts fan
I’m proud of LeGarrette Blount and the career he had. He also helped Oregon build their program and gave the PAC 10/12 RESPECT. 🫡✊🏾
Lag-er-it Blaun-T we used to say!
lot of colts
