We definitely want to see more reactions from you for this series - I just finished it a couple of days (forced myself to watch it slowly over several nights): it's fascinating, dense, intricately plotted and beautifully shot and performed!
Mainly filmed 2 miles down the road from me, mainly in a mini neighbourhood, which most of the period drama loving world should recognise, mainly from *Netflix* shows which are actually *BBC* shows, *Amazon* shows which are actually *BBC* shows, *HBO* shows which are actually *BBC* shows, *PBS* shows which are actually *ITV* shows, and feature films obviously, at least one of which is expected to be released early this year. Mainly filmed in *Bradford* the world's first *UNESCO City of Film.*
I noticed a building 2 miles down the road from me in Bradford the world's first UNESCO City of Film, being used as the Police Station, which I already knew about, and has been used in: Downton Abbey, Peaky Blinders, The ABC Murders, Jay's Yorkshire Workshop etc, apparently Gold and Emmerdale too (although I don't remember them using the inside), and Gentleman Jack (which I'm 99% sure didn't use the inside). I also noticed: The streets outside that building, which have been used countless times, and already knew about. Another building which has been used countless times, and already knew about. Some wasteland which was part of a mostly demolished mill, and has only been used a few times, which I already knew about. A soon to be demolished shopping centre, which is actually a market, which has had specific shop used at least 5 times, however they used the roof for this, which I've only noticed in 2 TV series, and a recent music video, which features the props on the open streets around the first building, which will soon be appearing in Six Triple Eight (2024). What I didn't notice however, was a building I knew about, which I also didn't really notice in Ghost Stories... Although I'm willing to bet it was used for the underground area where the time machine was being kept.
So excited, I watched this in one go and was waiting for some reactions. To me was great and fun to make theories and how different but similar can be the investigation in different times. Hope you keep reacting to it!
I’m so happy you’re watching this show! Partly because I’ve missed watching you and now we finally have another show we’re both watching. Also because you’ve seen Dark so you and I both are coming at it after that masterpiece. I didn’t know it was being compared to Dark but what’s funny is that I watched it because the tagline alone reminded me of Dark. And as I watched, I kept getting the same vibe. So far it seems a bit similar to me, and like you I’m intrigued. We definitely had a lot of the same thoughts and ideas while watching. I’ve only seen the first episode so you’re ahead of me for once. But it was nice to hear the same thoughts I had from you, we’re on the same track. And I love that you were immediately like “There’s some sexual tension going on” because I picked up on it right away too. Also “That guy looks like Timothy Omundson.” I didn’t see it until you said it. 😂 See you in the next one!
Hey Derek! Greetings again from Midtown Minneapolis! 🎉 I binged Bodies recently, loved it, and was considering watching it again so you've come into it at a great time for me. Really enjoyed your reaction to Episode 1 and looking forward to your observations on the rest.
I count this as the best sci-fi show (new or established IP) this year. I watched the whole season in a day... and its ending is... goddamn perfect! It's brilliant. Please do more reactions. I would love to share this amazing experience with a community. Thank you!!
I think Dark is a second cousin to this series. It is definitely a hybrid genre show, the acting is insane. Just when you think it is going to wrap up it throws another wrinkle into the mix.
I thought it was funny realising that most of the filming buildings within 2 miles of me, have been occupied by film and TV detectives and police, fictional or otherwise, especially in the last 5 years. Here's just some of them: Hercule Poirot, DI Jack Frost, DCI Banks, Dalziel and Pascoe, Sergeant Catherine Cawood, Major Chester Campbell, Alf Ventress, Levi Matthews, DS Philips, DI Dickie Alderman, DCI David Newhall, DCS Tommy Butler, DCS Dennis Hoban etc Most of the fictional and based-on fact productions in my city in general have involved police, as they usually involve crime. Sherlock Holmes has filmed at least 3 different productions here, and apparently Miss Marple has once too, in an episode of Marple (2004-2013).
In my opinion the episode was kind of a mix of Steven Spielberg, James Cameron, Michael Bay and Martin Scorsese. Steven Spielberg because of the bright lights in the police station, James Cameron because of the blue shots, Michael Bay because of the orange shots and Martin Scorsese because of the gangster like clothes
It was a mixture of Yorkshire... Kingston upon Hull, Leeds, Wakefield, Rotherham, Sheffield, York, and Bradford... But mainly Bradford, the world's first UNESCO City of Film.
Derek, I'm loving this show (the sci-fi elements surprised me, too... pleasantly). I could've finished it last week, but I don't want it to end, so I've been spreading 'em out (I'll finish this weekend). You didn't immediately recognize *Kyle* *Soller* from ANDOR. He's the whole reason I'm watching this, of course. 🔍 #SleepyWaffles #MarcoKreuzpaintner #Bodies #BodiesNetflix
I normally don't like detective type shows, but this just blew my mind, ended up watching it over a weekend, so many twists. Hope you continue to react to it and know you are loved
As you keep mentioning *Sex Education* (2019-2023) in this, it's just reminded me of another link to my city, on the same subject... *How to Have Sex* (2023) has 6 lead actors - 2 of the 6 are from *Bradford* the same city where most of *Bodies* (2023) is filmed.
I watched it immediately after it dropped and then once again (I'm this type of a person). I'm happy to see your reaction now :) It is a really good show, I loved it! As for what series I'm watching these days - it's Orange is the New Black. I've always avoided it, thought I wouldn't like a series about a prison for women. Turns out I was absolutely wrong - it is hilarious!
I've not seen *The Queen's Gambit* (2020) yet, however I've just had a quick look at the cast, and noticed that... *Anya Taylor-Joy* filmed *Peaky Blinders* (2013-2022) inside *Bradford City Hall.* *Jacob Fortune-Lloyd* filmed *Bodies* (2023) inside *Bradford City Hall.* *Harry Melling* filmed *Say Your Prayers* (2020) originally titled *Ilkley,* in *Ilkley, Bradford* and the *University of Bradford.* *Louis Ashbourne Serkis* wore a 2003/2004 Centenary *Bradford City AFC* shirt in *Allelujah* (2022) *Sophie McShera* is from *Bradford.* I was sure I had a connection to *Thomas Brodie-Sangster* too, however I can't see any other than the fact he's appeared in multiple productions with people who are from *Bradford,* mainly *Enzo Cilenti* who starred in *Wolf Hall* (2015), and *Game of Thrones* (2011-2019) which also contains a lot of people who have also filmed in *Bradford.*
Just need to know if I'm crazy or if anyone else heard what appears to be the sound of a legit fart happening during scene at 21:53. After he says "I was trying out a new bulb...." 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 Come on I know someone else had to hear it. If that's not a fart please for the love of God tell me what that's supposed to be the sound of.
@@SleepyWaffles it's during the conversation between the detective and photographer when the detective says you're going to need an alibi and the photographer says "I was trying out a new bulb". I mean it's literally right after he says "I was trying out a new bulb" (episode 1). Watching on Netflix from my end it counts the time stamp down Edit- so I was originally watching it on my phone and my headphones are going out. I have only the left side working. Which is what I heard it out of. I put it on the TV real quick and now it sounds more like the detective makes a low sounding grunt but I swear to God if you listen to it out of one side of a headphone it sounds like a fart. Like a fart you would hear if you were sitting on a wooden chair or hard wood floor and let one rip. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
@@SleepyWaffles Yes. My apologies. I should have been more specific on what I wrote. Absolutely not your video but the on the show. I'm sorry about that.
Bodies was decent. Not phenomenonal, but it was fun overall. Similar to Dark but waaaaay less complex and confusing. It's also nowhere near as brilliant as Dark either. Bodies is actually based on a comic book miniseries published in 2015.
I liked this show so much I finished it all in one day
Thats like 8 hours in one day. Impressive. I`m only halfways.
I' literally had to stop halfway through its so good and different
I did the same. I intended to watch 2 episodes a day and I watched the whole thing in one sitting.
Me too!

Boy, oh boy. I remember "Mistery Lady" as one of the most gorgeous of Hollywood.

I thought the kid in the yellow rain slicker with the blue eyes looked like Billie Joe Armstrong, so that's what I call him.

It reminds me of a Black Mirror episode.
I’m glad someone is finally reacting to this!

I thought it was funny that Kyle Soller who plays Alfred Hillinghead in 1890 is also Syril Karn from Andor! He finally got be be an Inspector! 🤣
