  • The reward for an early start for the podcast team was an hour-long chat with David Richards, chairman of Prodrive. A winner in the World Rally Championship as co-driver, he and Prodrive have gone on to feature at the top of all four-wheeled motor sport. He gives his views on the state of modern Formula 1 and WRC, Colin McRae, Jenson Button and Jacques Villeneuve. Plus modern GT racing's appeal, and he answers your many, many questions.

David Richards is part of the history of motorsport, an excellent guest to have for an interview.

Great interview. RAC was how I got into motorsport. Safari was iconic rally. Sense of adventure, danger, endurance and adrenaline has gone. DR correct that sport needs a rethink.

Good interview! Shame it wasn't a bit longer - Dave's obviously got so much to say about so many different areas of motorsport. Looking forward to another in the future!

We do keep being asked to make them longer, but there's sadly only so much time we can keep people as busy as David at a desk chatting rather than working! Ed.

Totally understand! It was merely an observation, not a criticism. Keep them coming!

Despite the very interesting content the set up is always very amateurish.

I am sorry, I love Motorsport and your magazine. And I have the deepest respect for you, the concept and obviously the editors. But the concept doesn´t work, if you need the editors there you need deeper questions, and less starstruckness. I saw the Tom K podcast, and it was even worse. Come on guys!

I think that those prepared questions didn't work well in the situation with 3 editors, who could ask questions themselves. They should have prepared a list of questions and go one-by-one, however many they would find time for.
