Why do I always learn new POWERFUL techniques when you drop a Lightroom tutorial. I thought I’ve learned it all…this is why I love this channel you reignite my passion to go edit thank you!!
Oh man this was great. So grateful for your lessons. I am the stock photographer for a dealership and I am always looking for ways to elevate the images. (Within the rules that the company standards). And getting the colors right is a headache most of the time. So thank you again 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
I can't wait for a sudden break on TH-cam for you, You have been grinding and giving amazing content and tips for years now. You deserve a viral video and some massive growth and following. Thank you for sticking with it and continuing to provide assistance for us smaller creators!
Ah man thank you for the kind words! I also can’t wait till something catches haha. I mean it’s a part of my choice to stick with the niche and really just hit my peeps with the content I know is relevant for us. Maybe the long term play will be to expand and hit more of the masses but I love the car niche and yall have been so good to me. I’m still enjoying it, regardless of the big viral videos or not 👊🏼 comments like this help.
It's funny, I Create content for Harley-Davidson because of tips and tricks I learned from your channel. The literal dream job. So if you ever need a reminder, you helped someone achieve something they never thought they could and you didn't even know it! Thank you!@@TheCarCreative
I have seen all your videos and you do an extraordinary job, I have learned a lot with you, thank you Would you have some photos to share with us and practice with them?
Question for you, what do you do when your monitor or laptop screen looks different from your iphone, so everything looks perfect in lightroom but once its in the iphone the minor changes don't look the way you wanted them to.
Oof, I’ve personally only ever worked with apple products. I’m a bit of a nerd that way, and spent waaay to much on my apple display so that the colors all match from screen to phone etc…
@@jaromievisuals I know this is an old comment, but I have struggled with this too. I end up sending a screenshot of the pic to myself (email, drive, whatever you fancy) and then view on my phone. If your end goal is to post on social media, then most likely it will be viewed on a phone. Obviously each phone has a different screen, so iPhones will look different from a Samsung or Pixel, but I think those will be more similar than the hundreds (or thousands) of different monitors that are out there. This way I cater it to look how I want on my phone screen, even if it means in Lightroom on my PC it doesn't quite look how I want it to. You could also do the edits on your phone using the Lightroom app, but obviously things like masking, etc will be a lot harder to do on a small screen (and not sure if all the color grading options are available in the mobile app). Definitely not the most streamlined way to go about it, but it works for me. I'm also a casual photographer so it's not like I'm doing a photoshoot with hundreds or thousands of pictures each time
Thank you for all the new tool tips!! I am very curious tho, what was the reason behind using 1/3200 sec for the second pic? I always use around 1/160 to get steady and sharp shots, is there a benifit to using a shutterspeed much higher?
Hey, I just built and launched a course that will answer all these questions for you. It’s about understanding all the settings on your camera, what they do, and how to use them in different scenarios. Using a shutter of 1/160 all the time will make you compensate for exposure with your aperture which isn’t always what you want. For me, I tend to set my aperture first with how much depth I want in the image, then ISO at 100, and then use shutter speed to balance out the exposure meter. But those are all creative decisions. Check out the course. Use code EARLYBIRD30 for a discount. 👍🏼
Sometimes it’s really hard to not destroy the color of the subject (for example a car). What I then do is to create a virtual copy of the image. Now I can work on the subject but also on the background. Later I just put them together in photoshop. For me that’s really helpful, just don’t over edit the subject, it should still fit in the image 👍🏼
I usually use the curve inside of a mask to darken the background. I used to do that with the exposure slider, but that also darkens the whites and blacks, which sometimes makes it look unnatural. With the curve the blacks are still black and the whites are still white, but it's overall still darker around the subject. Btw: Still cool to see my shot of my Jag in your preset kit at 6:52 😎
Burn and dodge adds that extra pop to my subjects. Still doing this in photoshop though as a finishing touch! Love these videos man, I’ve learn so much
Such awesome tips, definitely learned lot...spent the weekend taking photos of cars i'm even more excited for the edit now EDIT: came back to say point colour is such a great tip...just done a few photos with a white car that was getting colour cast from the sand it was on and this was such a game changer
Love this comment! Thanks for coming back and sharing. So many powerful tools in Lightroom and for automotive photography it’s a blast learning new ones that ACTUALLY help!
For me it’s almost always hot wings, the odd time I’ll get some kind of BBQ. Really comes down to preference though. Haha, sorry man, I had to… but I don’t know what you mean by “wings”.
@@TheCarCreative had me the first half, not gonna lie. 😂 By wings, I meant like a wing on a GT3 RS. Would you bother selecting it or not really worth selecting?
Been using photoshop for a while now because of layers and masking. People used to say photoshop was difficult because of this, but now lightroom seems just as complicated. I'm just making an observation, people should use whatever they prefer.
When I mask my car my curves are working only for whole photo not for masked section where the car is. Can you help me? I got no idea how is this happening.
Hmm… I pay for the Lightroom / photoshop package that is like $10 or something so I get all the updates as they come. I use the Lightroom desktop version (not Lightroom CC). But if you’re looking for a cheap option the mobile version can do a lot. But the masks are limited until you pay I think.
Ohhh ok ok brother, but I don't think it will help me... I take it much more professionally and the cellphone version can help for generic photos but for posts or real clients in photo sessions, whether of cars or portraits, I need a powerful tool! Tomorrow I'm going to download another pirated version and see if it works for me! I would pay for the official version but I charge 23 dollars a day and I work only one day a week at my current job and I am only now resuming my activity as a photographer, which makes it difficult for me to be able to pay for it. a hug from Argentina!
Darn dude I wish I could help. I’m not a windows user and haven’t been for many many years. Try using the “option” or “alt” or any of those keys on the bottom left hand side. Start dragging the sharpening mask first and then try hitting one of those keys. See if that works. 👊🏼 Thanks for watching!
Sorry in advance 🇨🇦… That light in the background made the video ALMOST unbearable to watch BUT the content and information was great. This is constructive criticism and I do have a bad cold, so maybe that made me a little bit more sensitive to light 😂
No no, you are right. I intended it to be a nice back light but as soon as I started editing it and saw how it was placed, it’s definitely less then ideal. Wasn’t worth me reshooting the whole thing though haha. I always appreciate constructive feedback. 👊🏼 Rest up and get better! I appreciate you watching.

So much useful information. Hard to believe that was all that was in less that 15 minutes.
woah point color! thanks for the info! that's real helpful as I'd be playing with other things to get rid of the sun color sometimes
Super helpful tool for sure!!
Thanks for the information. Can you send the monitor link you use
Awesome video dude, so much value in this video! Masking is a game-changer, and you use it so well!

Side note, but probably obvious now 😅 but your light tube, put it on the floor next time 😂🙈

That’s a great way to use the tool! And heck ya man, that such is insane! Thanks for sharing it with me and letting me edit it. 👊🏼
What is the tool that you use the most when editing in Lightroom?
linear mask
Might be point color with masks now
Select Subject paired with brushes (I shoot Harley-Davidson's)
just about linear gradient, and have been using it, i learned from this video to subtract the subject from the linear gradient😮 you’re teaching sir

Any tips on selecting wings? Usually they are a pain to select 😢

You could definitely brush in the details if you want to add a bit of exposure and make it pop! Doesn’t hurt if you got the time and desire 🙌🏼
