We also have otter making a mess of boat houses. You might want to try a double door Comstock 12x18x39 trap at some point. Catching 2 otter at a time is not uncommon with the wider trap. One trapper in Washington caught 5 twenty pound male otter at once!

Jim, same issues and maybe worse here at Lake Texoma. The otters destroy fish baskets, minnow buckets, steal fish and bait, crap all over and retrieve the Striper carcasses the guides have thrown in the water after filleting them.
Between the rotting fish and the poop everywhere it's becoming very frustrating.
The 12x18x39, could it be used as an underwater trap also? Do you know how long the Otters can stay under water? Thanks for any help you can provide.

This was an otter I trapped several years ago on a customers dock. To live trap an otter you must understand a variety of factors and FYI it is not an EASY task. That being said I used shrimp on this set, I hope that helps. Feels free to contact us directly if you need further information.

@@adairsanimals724Thank you for the reply. What size is your cage trap? Could you please tell me if otter's travel, I put down my trap, which is designed for raccoons, with a can of tuna and some salmon with the skin on and it never touched it. I think with all the pressure that we were giving him with putting the trap in and the owner walking around the pond checking it out, might have spooked him off. There is another pond about 40 yards on the other side of the road, with a culvert that he could possible travel through. Do you think he bugged out on me? Thank you for your time.
