how many takes out of 10 would you reckon you loose because of the fish is heading your way instead of the opposite way? That is my biggest concern with circle hooks, that once i actually gets a bite, wether it's a zander or catfish, it's a drop back
Hi andreas, all runs will be forward running as we use running rigs so if the fish come towards you you'll always get indication. As for the circle hooks I don't personally know as I use Eagle waves always have done, Marc got right into circles though and swears by them

Hello mate this lake is Tony Wignals and is called the cat reserve in essex. You'll of probably seen him or the lake in the ccg whiskers magazine I even done a article a couple of years back as Tony asked if I would so I gave it a go. Tony also runs houchins now which has a catfish lake as well if you didn't know

Loved this boys! Some whoppers out! I’m going to have a go at getting my first cat this week before it gets too cold! Was planning on getting a fair few tins of Spam and giving that a whirl, you had much luck on the stuff? Tight lines!
Thanks mate, yeah I've had some good results on spam at this lake and another lake. Although I do find catfish can be funny feeders at times when it comes to bait but if you can find what they'll accept you'll catch consistently until they move onto something else so I normally start on 3 different hookbaits until I find what they'll like. Also with the spam I cut mine into 4 bits from the tin and I've also done well by soaking it in garlic goo a few days before I go. Hope you have some luck

Thank you, we've never had any issues with pike as the lake the videos was filmed on hasn't got any in and if i was to fish a venue with pike in I'd just change the hooklink material to pike safe which I think catfish pro make but saying that I did fish a lake that contained pike 2 years ago and they never once bit me off on the greased weasel, it's pretty tough stuff and cheap as well when you compare it to carp products I'll hopefully get the camera back out next year and make some more videos, I stopped because of jealous idiots which I regret now
Was just wondering if you could give me some tips in going to fish a lake called willow croft next week they have cat fish in there I've never done catfishing before
Hi Terry, to be honest it's coming into the hard time of year for catfish as they'll be slowing up for winter but that's not to say you won't still catch them. If I was to try myself I'd probably go in with single hook baits, preferably livebait if the venue allows. Failing that I'd probably try 3 20mm halibut pellets on a hair rig with maybe a pva bag of smaller pellets in. I'd stay clear of mass baitng though. A chunk of mackerel maybe worth a try also a big lump of spam. I've also caught by mistake a few times on mainlines cell or a single pineapple pop up

Don't be put of by the cold as they go more by daylight hours and don't let blanks put you off in this month either as once they've woken up its all worth it
