Sometimes you watch something that makes you go "huh, maybe it really is that simple...." What a great drill to help you get out of your own way and just tap it in. Brilliant stuff
Used this tip yesterday. Wow, I was making it much harder all this time than it needed to be. This is an amazing way to look at short putts. Glad I came across this video.
Thank you so much ! That is the exact problem! I get over a long put and the confidence that I will make it and sometimes I do cause I do think about hitting it good and over the short I pray ! I think this is finally the tip I needed ! Thank you sooooo much !
Yep, great suggestions. Focusing on the result rather than the process of making a good stroke and getting the online can make a 4 foot put seem like a 30-foot put.. thanks for allowing us into such a wonderful world.
That Sprech effect! This makes sense. I always have the wrong mentality of a putt that has a litte meat to it. I’m definitely going to give this a try.
this video came across my feed… took a chance and watched it… holy cow!!! my last 2 rounds, I can’t count how many 1 putts I had… my buddy’s were asking if I got laid or something… 😂 that’s beside the point, this video is a game changer
Always interested in putting tips as I struggle on short ones but hard to get past the 'don't expect to make the 5 footer' - that can be interpreted two ways 1) takes pressure off as per the idea in this video or 2) you have no confidence / no expectations even on short putts i.e. don't expect to make it and you won't.
Loving the content as always guys! Have you looked into starting a discord channel as well? I'd imagine the majority of your fanbase (myself included) is in the younger demographic and discord is a really good way to get people together, talk about whatever, get to know more/new people and expand your reach on social media. I know I'd join in a heartbeat! Just a thought, again love what you guys are doing and please never stop!
My golf library contains well over 100 golf related books from instruction, design, fiction , etc. From pages from Farnie’s Golf Manual to Vardon and Jones, Ernest and Bobby, of course Hogan, and Jacobs, Nicklaus, Tiger and so many more (mainstays are Melhorn, Austin, and Utley) I’ve never come across the “tap in drill.” As for putting, I do respect Pelz and apply much of his research (18” past is the ideal touch, etc.,) I feel that he is more mechanical than I want to be (straight back and through.) Nearly 50 years of golfing and I’ve never been better than a 5 hc and am desperately hanging on to a 7 today. My full shots are ok and since adopting the Mike Austin method my drives are at least 30 yards longer. I’m perfectly happy (perhaps resigned to) carrying 240 at age 70. But my short putts now suck. I was a 5 only because of my putting and just yesterday I missed 4 within 3 feet and another 3 within 4. In my 20s I know I’d have made all of them. My reading, due to tired eyes has deteriorated yet my lag putting is what my buddies tell me is fantastic but reads should not matter so much within 4 feet. I die the ball into the cup (Nicklaus, Bobby, Toski) which is a 12 inch past for medium putts and 18 for longer ones but for the short ones, I play to the back of the cup. One tip on another channel said to never aim outside the cup on 3-4 footers but I had 3 that broke 4 inches, enough to miss with a back of the cup touch. I’m going to try the tap in drill (mine would probably go 2-3 feet past) but on a 3 footer that’s much more than back of the cup touch. I make more than my fair share of 6-12 foot putts but I’m missing many short ones that could bring me back to a 5hc and consistently shooting 70s again. Thanks for the vid. PenguinGolf
Tried the tap in drill and the ball really does go 3-4 feet past the hole. Last week I missed 3 of 5 within 4 feet. Today made 5 of 6 and would have shot a reasonable 78 if not for 2 silly OBs. Would have made them all but I got sloppy picking my spot about 12” away. My problem (especially with donuts around the hole from soft rainy season conditions) was not hitting it hard enough. The “tap in” method has me slamming the ball into the back of the cup. Pin removal recommended. Thanks for the tip.
When I miss long putts, the ball often ends up hole high, exactly the speed to get there and no farther. When I miss short putts, the ball ends up a foot or more beyond the hole. Taking this tip out there next time. Thanks.
To be a good putter you need 4 skills. 1. Reading greens 2. Aiming the putter 3. Stroking where you aim 4. Speed control Without those 4, no "tricks" will help you.
The first thing i do when practicing putting before a round is do 1-4 ft straight-in putts just to make sure I'm square to the hole... Me, not an alignment tool and a mirror and a string and a... Just me. I only do like 3-5 putts also. Then go lag a few. That's it. When my putts go in, i hear from my playing partners "never a doubt". Quit the bull crap practicing and keep it simple.

Hits ever putt short
Best putting video I've seen addressing short putts
Used this tip yesterday. Wow, I was making it much harder all this time than it needed to be. This is an amazing way to look at short putts. Glad I came across this video.
By far the best putting tip anyone can give. Thank you.
Practiced this for a bit. Putted much better next two round. Missed a lot less short putts. Genius!!!!
It's a solid drill!
So glad I ran across this again! And I'm still struggling with short putts! That's about to change! Thanks!!
Boom lets go! #nobaddays

Great advice on the shorter putts, I'm definitely going to try this
Ok this is one of the best tips I have ever received - just tried and it works 💪💪
Actually it's the absolute best most useful tip I have ever had. When I approach a short putt I say to myself "Tap in". It works 💪💪💪
Something I would have never thought about, makes perfect sense. That’s awesome and will definitely give this a go. Thanks for the tip
You got it Brad! Thanks for checking it out 👊🏼
I really benefitted, one of the most effective tips ever. Started putting out faster too....

Great tip I'm going to try and thank you again
I really like this concept! I’ll try it tomorrow!!!
Amazing results instantly. Thank you!!
go low out there!
That Sprech effect! This makes sense. I always have the wrong mentality of a putt that has a litte meat to it. I’m definitely going to give this a try.
Let us know how it works for you Thomas!

Whether indoor putting will help ? Which is ideal putting mat ?

😆👏🏻
Does the same apply for a slow uphill putt?
Makes sense!
This is awesome
Glad you liked this one. Sometimes the simplest things work the best, right?
@Golficity
Been playing for so long. This is brilliant!!!
Nice tip, I’ll give this a try. Something that has worked great for me on these putts is “keep my head down and listen to it go in.”
Love that!

Thanks Sean! We have a telegram community called The Clubhouse, I think that’s similar. Check it out; free to join. www.GOLFICITY.com/clubhouse
I’m thinking psychology here. Definitely worth trying 👍🏼
Nice tip. I have tried everything to get better at 3-4 ft. putts. Different grips, look at hole, etc. why wouldn't I try this?
Exactly! Simple and easy. Good luck and keep us posted!

I missed 13 2 feet putts today at s tournament😢
If only this guy would come golfing with me so he can put his foot in front of my line on every four footer I'm on....
I have a friend we call Moped because he goes putt putt putt!
2:39 -- treat it like a tap in --------- he misses it 🤣😂🤣😂🤣
They don’t call me 3 Putt for nothing!
I lose 2 or more strokes a round missing short putts. It's maddening
"From 20,' I get it within a foot." Reality check: you need to buy a ruler! LOL
the "expert" when he was showing how to hole a 5 feet put then he.... missed it 🤣🤣
I think you just shaved 4 strokes off my game

Sack the cameraman 😡
'we' amateur
Camera work terrible
I've 2 putted from 3 feet more times than I care to remember, what a brilliant piece of advice.👏👏
It's even worse when you 3 putt from 3 foot, because you hit the first one too far past with a foolish belief in confidence.
