I am a proud Malayalee from the capital city. I love Kochi, the hustle bustle of the city, and the vibes there. I actually did my industrial training at the Casino Hotel in Wellington Island at Kochi. But I am afraid Indian cities are growing at break neck speed, getting too overcrowded, making real Estate prices too high and unaffordable...resulting in homeless people working in big cities, lack of water, greenery, taking away water bodies, changing the original landscape....resulting in devastating floods, and other natural disasters ( same problems all huge cities around the world). Hopefully they will also create job opportunities in rural areas, that people do not have to migrate to the cities and overcrowd. Greetings from Belgium

My friend Goa and North East hill states looks like Europe.If you visit mizoram, you will feel that you are in a European country. No traffic jams, very clean cities and full of greenery. I am a keralite but I was in awe by seeing the beauty of North East hill states especially mizoram and meghalaya. Himachal Pradesh is also marvellous. I have personally visited all this places.

Kerala is such a beautiful location for movie making and vacation... It's so scenic with abundant natural resources and beauty. But I can't live there... Politics play a notoriously bad role in killing industries and startups therefore it ranks so low in job creation. I might settle down there after retirement.. It's a good place to live.
Glad that China, India and so many countries are leap frogging _ it means the heads of state are working hard! Loved the guess work. I worked in Iraq and the Sultanate of Oman and used to envy their way of life. Now India is catching up.

Education makes the difference. Though kerala has no production units it is considered to be the no.1 state in India due to education, health, religious tolerance, standard of living, safety and most importantly no poverty. In fact Lakhs and lakhs of labourers from Bihar, UP and Bengal are working there but all are called Bangali...dont know why.

All the people come and work in Kerala for the higher labor charges Kerala offers than the rest of India in the same way how many Keralaites prefer to work abroad for higher wages than what they may get in India...

Kerala is no1 only for those who read mathrubhumi paper. Kerala is a good place but for the people who are retired and wants to lead a hassle free life. Education is ok but for higher education they have to go to other states. Health system is also good but for specialized treatment still lot of them are going to vellore cmc or other places like bangalore. But some hospitals like apollo are opening in kerala, so things should improve in future. Yes, poverty is less, thanks to the NRI's income coming to kerala, again dependent on some foreign countries, otherwise poor only. Yes, it is correct that many labourers are coming to kerala for good pay for mean jobs but note that kerala can't give jobs to the educated people and they are not coming to kerala. But these labourers from up, bihar and bengal are in large numbers as their population is too much. These labourers are not only coming to kerala but to all the other developed states like Gujarat, maharashtra, AP, telengana, karnataka, haryana, chandigarh and western up. Only a small fraction of them are coming to kerala, infact it is least preferred by many bcoz of the language. And as far as religious tolerance, it has started showing its teeth now a days.
