    How many pumpkins do you get for each seed

      -Not very definitive actually. Different varieties will produce differently. We've seen small decorative gourds (fist size) at a dozen on one vine. Some of the bigger varieties producing 15Kg pumpkins at one or two per vine.

    What is the irrigation system used in the pumpkin crop?

      We have loam soil, not very sandy, so retains moisture well. We do not irrigate.

    5 hours a day just dedicated to weeding?? How much $ are you going to make off that pumpkin patch?

    • @stromsfarm
      @stromsfarm  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Uh, not 5 hours every day... We get through our fields at least twice and hope for a 3rd time before the plants start to vine out

    Does anyone know how to kill pumpkins. My yard is being taken over. Iv been fighting them for years. My kids planted them And I need them to go away for good.

      LOL. Had enough keeping them alive, have not been trying to kill them! I expect a little round up while they're growing would do the trick. If you're not into that, remove every pumpkin that they produce from the yard and then seeds won't regrow.

      Believe it or not iv put almost a gallon of round up on the area and they continue to come back. If I leave town for a couple weeks the yard will be taken over by vines. The kids planted without asking and never said anything. It was funny the first year but after that not so much. If you look on the internet on how to kill pumpkins some crazy stuff comes up but no actual way to stop them from growing. Haha

      @@kw2216 I am assuming that you're aware that round up doesn't work on the soil, but only on the leaves after the plant is up and growing. If you have access to farm chemicals, atrazine could be applied to the soil and would be effective on it. But that could kill a lot of desirables as well... I'm surprised to hear that old seed in the ground keeps coming up. If the seed in the pumpkin fruit is taken away/not allowed to produce each year, I couldn't imagine getting volunteer pumpkins 2 seasons after original seed was put down...

      @@stromsfarm a product called Liberty. You can get it at your local co-OP. Spray on foliage heavily, mixed at 2oz per gallon for small applications
