hey bro i gotta 04 kx 125 and i’m about to do my first piston and rings after 20 years and only did it once back then i’m a little nervous your video helped thanks
@@IGoProEVERYTHING hey is there anything i should no about doing the piston and ring i already got the head on the bike oh got a question did you take your bike apart then order your parts and should i go with the same size piston thanks
@@joeplaugher6405 I got my bike with the head already off. I took the entire engine/trans apart. It saved me headaches later. There were chunks of piston in the crankcase. I also found what someone else did wrong which caused a coolant leak.
I read its recomendable to fit oversized radiators on the bike when you fit a bigger bore kit. I wish I could get a 144 kit for my '95 CR 125 cool vid and cat :D
what size is the piston that came in the kit ? i bought a 2001 YZ125 and compression is reading 90PSI the guy i bought it of said it was a brand new athena standard bore top end only used for trail riding for 1 riding season, was hoping that replacing the piston and rings will solve my problem, hoping no damage to the cylinder
I recently bought a used yz125 fully rebuilt thinking it was built correctly but it was not they even sold me a f’d up cylinder that was completely junk no way in saving in and I can’t find no cylinders for my 2002 yz125 until I seen this but then I see the reviews and some are good and some are bad what do you think should I spend 700$ on this kit?
Can you use a normal aftermarket piston with these? I bought a 2011 yz125 with a stock bore yz125. It needs a new top end but I don't know if a normal piston will work.
Do you happen to know the part number for those small dowel or alignment pins. I got the same kit and happened to misplace them and can't find them anywhere
I got the bike with the cylinder not on it. This is also the 2nd dirt bike that I have ridden. The first was a 1986 KX 250 that badly needed a rebuild. This Athena cylinder is the stock bore size. I do not think a bigger bore is worth the extra $100s of dollars.
Cute kitty! How did you end up liking this kit? Just picked up a 2005 YZ125 for cheap with a seized piston due to the previous owner installing a freshly replated cylinder and a new Pro-X piston that he accidentally put in backwards, so the ring is mangled up and hung into the exhaust port and the cylinder wall is knicked up pretty good. Dunno if it can be replated, and if so, if it would be cheaper to get a new cylinder anyway. Definitely not trying to go bigger than 125cc or anything, same as you.
I have not got the bike running yet. The kit installed nicely. Trying to work around the cold weather it is taking a long time. I just finished painting the frame, swing arm and rear spring: th-cam.com/video/O7YUjNloKPg/w-d-xo.html I have recorded, edited and uploaded the entire tear down including the complete rebuild of the motor.

Max Ortiz I kept the stock bore and have not had a problem with cooling.

standard bore. I would loved to have had 90PSI. mine had 12PSI when I got.

How did you get the dome to stay in the cylinder head ?
I put the spark plug in.

How was the reliability on this? I have found a lot of people have issues with the head gaskets having issues not sealing.
huntin the bike ended up having to much power for back woods riding I do. The only issue I had was getting the power valve cover on.
Go ProEVERYTHING How did it have too much power?

How did this kit end up going? Any issues?
The bike ran flawlessly. it had too much bottom end for the backs woods riding I do. Also I am a noob on 2 wheels LOL

Where did you purchase it from .?

Is there supposed to be an o ring on the inside of the brass insert?
The o-rings go between the head and cylinder
So you dont need to put any type of sealant on the brass insert of the head?? It seals out the coolant fine by itself?
Give a feedback now, how about power ? What's the difference between stock and big bore?
