@@sweetpotatopie9832 The Rapper that voiced Ryder, MC Eiht, beefed with Rockstar. Rockstar has history with overworking Voice Actors and underpaying them. Dunno if they really underpaid said VAs or if the VAs signed the contracts and them wanted raises.
After MC Eiht left, Rockstar used previously recorded lines and spliced them together for his final appearance in Pier 69.

If it wasn’t for Cesar CJ and Sweet would have been left in the dark and at some point would have been killed at some point if they hadn’t learned about their betrayal
Cj probably be survive but Sweet doesn't if CJ wasn't there to help him
Carl would go to the ambush regardless. Question is, how things’ll unfold from that point forward. If Carl successfully got Sweet away from the gunfight unscathed somehow, they would be in the dark about the betrayal. It seems that the Ballas’ victory over the Families made them more brave in conquering their territories. With Carl and Sweet around that doesn’t occur. At some point I think Sweet would learn of the Rifa’s involvement with the Loco Syndicate and ask Carl to investigate, but because he doesn’t meet Woozie, that job is harder, unless the Aztecas help the Johnsons. Cesar might still try to convince Carl that Smoke and Ryder betrayed them, but with CRASH’s leverage over him, it’s hard to imagine how he would rid himself of them. I guess Tenpenny would continually blackmail CJ and wouldn’t try to kill him because the Families’ position would be stronger for the majority of the war. Question is, what would happen if Smoke and Ryder’s betrayal were to be exposed.

Big Smoke's betrayal is actually foreshadowed from the very beginning. Here are the clues:
1. He didn't attend the Johnson siblings' mom's funeral, instead he waits for Sweet to come home to be killed. The Ballas only target CJ & Sweet on their way home.
2. In the mission "Drive Thru", his ridiculously big order is actually a ruse for the Ballas (whom Big Smoke refuses to kill) to attack Grove Street. When CJ & Sweet talked about their mom's murder, he instead tells everyone to eat their meal.
3. When CJ asked him why he moved to Idlewood, which is Ballas territory, he claims the money he needed to buy the new house is from his late aunt, when the money is actually from the deal with Tenpenny to kill Sweet, not to mention CRASH always coming to his house.
4. He spouts random gibberish during his missions. Also, when Ryder's missions are to restore the Grove Street Families to its former glory, Big Smoke's missions had nothing to do with said gang.
5. His Glendale's license plate reads "A2TMFK", with 2T can either mean 2 ton (He's fat) or two-timing (Traitor). His initials also look suspiscious.

I believe the original plan was to never have Ryder betray Grove Street, all his missions benefited the hood meanwhile Smoke's was more for his personal gain, CJ doesn't even mention his betrayal during this mission only in later missions which I'll assume were recorded after the change in direction. The mission where you kill Ryder, his dialogue sounded more like sound bits rather than actual lines for the mission.

That's last point is why it makes no sense Ryder is a traitor as well
Story wise, Ryder merely did those things to protect himself and subvert expectations. He wasn’t very important in the alliance of Smoke and Tenpenny, which contributed to the crack epidemic. He became relevant later. He was always hostile towards Carl and if you think about it, like Micah he also did questionable things, contrary to his betrayal. Micah convinced Dutch to kill Leviticus Cornwall, the agents’ employer despite the fact that he was spying for them. He did those things to protect himself, his own skin. Ryder’s betrayal isn’t handled well, yes, but in hindsight when you see things from his perspective, it’s more clear. He never forgave Carl, never gave a crap about him. Smoke was a coward and a rat, so that is why he fled in Reuniting the Families. Why did Ryder did? Why didn’t he fight to ensure Sweet’s chance of survival are high from the beginning instead of looking like a coward? Which I add, is not in his character, unless he had another agenda. And that is perfectly summarised in his words: “it’s every motherfucker for himself”.

Cesar really helped out CJ if he haven't called him CJ and sweet would have got ambushed by the ballas. I still can't believe Ryder and Big Smoke betrayed Groove Street. But there is a saying: *The saddest thing about betrayal is that it never comes from your enemies*

It goes to show you what Michael Corleone ((Al Pacino)) said in The Godfather Part 2: "Keep your friends close and your enemies closer"
Ryder wasn't going to betray CJ in original story, but things went wrong with the voice actor of Ryder and Rockstar games. That's why Ryder didn't got any "new line" on mission "pier 69" where developers make him die.
Ps: if you actually focus on storyline in original series, you won't find *cutscenes of Ryder betraying/speaking ill of grove* as we kill him in mission, there's no cutscene and just "mission passed" .

ryder was not supposed to be a traitor but the character who gave him the voice had to complete the album as evidenced by the fact that no one ever mentions until the show when you need to kill him

Anyone else bothered by the fact that CJ enters Cesar's car from the passenger side, ends up in the driver seat during the cut scene, then yells at Cesar to go GO. Cesar then gets out. Cutscene ends and then CJ exits the car from the passenger lmao like what is this continuity.
Or the fact that Cesar just randomly manifested into the passenger seat

Thing that’s always bothered me a bit in terms of realism is that the player is almost always the driver. For playability, of course, but it still bothers me.
It also bothers me how obvious it would be to see cesar and cj in the car in the eyes of smoke, the ballas, ryder or the cops. Like in real life they would be able to see the car right across the street with two people staring dead at them lmao

Ryder originally wasn’t a Traitor until some internal issues happened. I guess re-recording the lines to mention Ryder was out of the question that late into game development.
That's because voice actor want to quit after had beef with Rockstar
well actually MC Eiht said he recorded every lines as Ryder, so Rockstar wanted to make him a traitor from the beginning but the execution isn't done so well because it was unclear in which mission he was supposed to betray and so they added his model in this one. MC Eiht asked Rockstar for confirmation and they said that's what they wanted to do with his character

this may be dramatic but i would always deliberately delay playing this mission. i would roam around LS, recruit some homies and bond with them, and just stay too long at ganton. the mission still hits so hard even though i've played it numerous times already.
As for me, I take all gang territories and kill drug dealers as many as I could (2000$ per kill) before taking on this mission. I also prefer taking territories alone rather than inviting gang members to join, they would just be a dead weight for me.

For some reason it looks like gta v mission passed. Nothing more, but just mission passed.
Positive lessons from GTA SA and i called this game as one of the best.
1. CJ came home as a loser and a buster. Despite the facts that CJ left Los Santos because his little bro, Brian died because of CJ. CJ came home 5 years later, improving, improving and improving to be the better person. Until the end of the line, killed his own childhood friend and became success by having a casino, showroom, Madd Dogg's manager, etc
2. Become a mission man. CJ is the father of a mission. Every mission he walked through are not easy. He must killed some people, stole some military weapon, burglary, capture an enemy territory, helped some unknown folks, helped the antagonist of the game, killed his own friends, undercover as one of a syndicate, robbing a casino, stealing a jet from the military ship, etc. Every mission, is for his family, Sweet, Kendl, Cesar and the GSF.
3. Keep your eyes on your close friends, he may betray you
As we know, Smoke and Ryder betrayed GSF in the middle of the storyline. There's some sign that Smoke will betray the families. But Ryder? I don't think so.
4. You never know, if you never try
In the whole storyline, CJ doing some new things that never came to his life. For example, doing business, fly a plane or helicopter, messing with some mafias, become the manager of the greatest rapper in that era

Even if the voice actor left the making of the game midway, Rockstar could still of made Ryder stayed with Grove Street and have him killed by the ballas to give more reasons to hate Smoke & Tenpenny. When I first did this mission I was wondering why CJ didn't mention Ryder as well.

They fixed the mouth movement when Pulaski says: We want you to do a little favor for us Carl. In the original when says that line his mouth didn't move
while at the same time the camera tried to prevent us seeing CJ say half his lines in the green saber cut scene and in some parts, hold on a still frame
Cesar is a great character
Another slight difference from Rockstar, is in the OG game , when you pullup to help sweet, your homies are still alive and defending Sweet , but run off when the police come. In the remastered, they’re all dead upon arrival and it’s just you left defending sweet until the end, sad ending
When CJ got in the car with cesar, my first observation was that square steering wheel in the old game. Good to see they are more round now lol

I know Ryder was meant to be loyal originally so I like to imagine he wasn't in the Green Sabre mission at all because he had to go to court for a hearing. Ryder missed what happens and wonders where the homies at and why the Ballas are moving into Grove St. CJ has a mission to save Ryder and Emmett while Caesar leaves LS with Kendl

@@ankihansen2489 Actually CJ never wanted to be a gang member. He did his best to escape the hood and lead a simple life. You can easily hear this in the San Fierro missions, in his dialogues about how much he loves this city, and in his argue with Sweet in the "Home Coming".

You'd think after all these years with this new "definitive edition", they would address Ryder in this scene.
Like I know they probably couldn't get a hold of the original voice actors (or even get the same quality of voice) but they have the original raw voice lines. They could have at least cobbled up a dialogue line of CJ acknowledging Ryder being shown in this scene.
