I thought this was a great video. I love the clarity of both sound and quality of the video. I just thought it was a little annoying how they didnt look uniform, but other than that keep recording stuff like this. I love listening and watching any drumline
Must be why he has the best technique out of the group. Both corps have changed styles (and not for the better imo). There seems to be way too much hip movement as well as upper body movement.This is also early in the year. Lots of work and improvement ahead. Seems like SCV is on track to do very well this year.
marched vanguard cadets '16. great bass player, wanted to stick with vanguard all the way but there were no openings in 2017 so he went to BD for a year
I'm not sure how much the concrete played into it, but the drums sounded really flat and hollow to me. From what I could tell and have heard in a few other videos, the beats still sounds fairly tasty. I trust Paul. Everyone has their off days...but you have to have that mental focus that when it's show time...those mental busts aren't an option. Kudos to 1 for not letting it show in his face.

Well you would be far fetched to call this drum corps. SCV has always had a kick ass drumline. And i'm sure this year will be no different. But I have followed SCV for over 30 years now and his ain't drum corps anymore. It is now Pixie dancing bands with amplification and the entire neighborhoods lawn furniture on the marching field. What ever happened to G-Bugles and the Bottle Dance? Sigh
ED DUQUETTE You refuse to let an art style change along with society, if you want traditional drum corps look at the Cadets and even then they’re changing too.
phcasper it’s just a different style of mark time, SCV doesn’t care much about the differences in technique throughout their whole line. Especially not marking time. The style he is using using more knee to keep tempo than the bottom of his heel or foot. Not wrong, just different
@@seangage1812 Surely you're not serious. Imagine being in a drumline and informing the director that you've decided to switch things up and be the only one on the line doing it. Nonsense. Dude was straight up bad at marking time. There were multiple spots where his feet even get out of time.
@@bonkersmcgee4356 My interpretation of it is even if he was doing his way of marking time perfectly, it doesn't matter because everyone in the corps has to mark time the exact same way or it'll look weird. There's no excuse for his feet to look different than everyone else, but luckily it seems like it got fixed by finals. To be fair I really didn't pay attention to the feet except in this video
