2S38 isn't even a light tank, but classified as an SPAA everywhere, but by making it a light tank they can give it a full APFSDS belt, something the OTO is not allowed to have, as well as getting a drone and artillery and scouting and smoke and whatever the fuck else.
It's even listed on the Warthunder Wiki as an SPAA "Built on the BMP-3 platform, the 2S38 was an attempt to transform the platform into a self-propelled anti-aircraft gun with a 57 mm autocannon and a tracking system capable of fighting low-flying aircraft".
Exactly, even the Lvkv is 10.0 and gets infinite dart. I could live with the Oto nerfs if it got the same treatment
It replenishes the ready rack WAY faster than the OTOMATIC does as well
@@jasoncrawford4929 even the LVKV has an spaa version and a light tank version. Basically no difference except the light tank gets top down AGTMS and APSFDS.

Also the fact it shoots 57mm APFSDS that seem very effective compared to the 60mm on the 74 HVG.
The only reason why that thing is 9.7 is because there is a dollar amount attached and gaijin knows people will pay for auto delete vehicles
Plus it goes well with the su25 and t72 so russia mains are more likely to buy it for a full lineup

If the 2S38 had half the armour, and half the speed, but was in the British tree, it would be rated 13.7 by Gaijin
I just realized that you can even sit behind a building or whatever cover, keeping your front behind the cover and your turret just out enough to be useful and you are literally invincible unless they hit your ammo and the ammo actually explodes the tank instead of just causing a nuclear detonation and somehow being just fine and dandy
it's what i do everytime i peek, you still die a lot cause surprisingly people hit the ammo a lot, but still very nice way to peek
Puma, striker and Ags can do the same but this thing does have ammo next to the gun so it gets ammo racked all the time

The same company that thinks the BMP-2M belongs at 9.3, TURMS-T at 9.7, KA-50 at 10.7 and then proceeded to move the HSTV-L up to 11.0 for some godforsaken reason recently; yea its not incredible, its just normal for them to do this kind of bullshit. Not to mention them moving ALL AA that can actually touch a KA-5x up further in BR to a point where the only AA it has to worry about in a slight uptier or AT BR (for the 52) is its OWN nation.

Blows my mind how the Otomatic, the worst top tier anti-air in the game goes up to 11.0 which is also the same br as the 2S6 but this thing which is blatantly op for 9.7 is untouched and should be 10.7, even the BMP-2M should have gone up which is another ridiculously powerful vehicle for 9.3 standards.

@@BoarhideGaming the russian helicopters are not as good as the chinese ones, the chinese ones got missiles like vikhrs with a confirmed 10km kill not just 8 in addition to that they have 1200mm pen instead of 800 from the russian ones, they also got 4-8 air-air missiles which are better than any other missiles and you arent able to flare em off easily which makes chinese helos the best in the game, let alone the Z-11WZ being on 8.7 and having gen3 thermals.

Chinese ATGM is nothing like Vihkr, it's unreliable.
Chinese Helicopter's best feat is their agility & TY-90 Helicopter Dogfight missiles.
If you ever actually ride on one, u'll quickly realize u better off just spawned in with the Dogfight missiles & kill aircraft or helicopter with it, going in close & went full SPAA mode..
and tell u what, ur team will appreciate u for doing this.
Most IFVs in game are way under BR’d because Gajin uses armor protection as the most weighted category to decide BR. Many of them should be 10.7+

When I first heard they were gonna add a Russian version of the Puma, I knew it was just gonna be OP
implying this thing is at all a russian "version" of a Puma, AGS, or HSTV-L is a crime. it is better than all 3 of them wish they could ever be. Not at all comparable.

Hull-break should be added back, if you shoot something so light with a decent round it should crumble. Now it just passes through.
It's not nearly as good as hullbreak but you can overpressure lighter vehicles sometimes with heat or hesh if you bring any. But yeah I miss hullbreaking.
@@Shirvani28 I think you can only overpressure with heat when hitting open roof vehicles, or in its case extremely small things like the Italian funny pizza wagon.

Overpressure as a concept is better since it deals with all vehicles, but it needs to be fixed. The last few months it seems certain HE vehicles have had overpressure turned off for some reason and its crippling them. T30 for example cant kill shit it used to anymore in the same spots with its 155mm HE yet other vehicles with equivalent ammo can somehow. I also shot 2 BMPs in the side center mass and all it did was track them with the HE. Tiger IIs im lucky if i destroy the drivers optics anymore on a turret shot.
I bought this thing when it first came out then realized how OP it was. So now I almost exclusively play it at 11.0 with my T-80.

@@Lofi.z34 ya and ofc it has god protection from HE shells so shooting it from the front is a pain if you are a usa main with no spalling , so i tend to wait for side shots and just do a tic-tac-toe three in a row😂

@@Lofi.z34 aiming is hard when your gun is out or you cant see from all the fucking smoke it makes. The 2S38 is easy to kill if it doesnt see you, you have time to aim, and its hull is exposed. Even then it also depends on the angle and whether or not the fuel tank completely absorbs your 500mm+ pen APFSDS or 120mm HESH shell for some fucking reason.

The OG Jumbo the m4a3 105 at 2.7 is imo under-tiered. I used to take it out all the way till 3.7 plus and it would be phenomenal in the late game.
Since the introduction of Sweden with apds 100mm ish pen at 1.3 or 1.7, cant remember which, it has settled the m4a3 spam.
I wish we could just get an M4A3 75mm in the tech tree

Swedish 37mm reserves (1.0) get 105mm and I love them, so easy to just 1 click 105's ammo by the driver and instant cookoff.
The WMA301 at 8.7 is also nutty.tandem atgm, gen 2 thermals, fast and while you can get penetrated by .50 cals its no armor is best armor
The 2S38 is an op machine if you know how to use it. You can blast a tank so many times and still not kill it unless you hit certain parts of which can be tricky.
Its amazing that this thing which mind you is better than the HSTV-L in pretty much every way that really matters, doesnt get moved up to 10.7 or 11.0 where it belongs, but the HSTV-L which is missing features and ammuntion and is worse in pretty much every aspect but speed, got moved up to 11.0 for some godforsaken reason.
the ikv103 has a 10x larger hitbox on the shell than it is supposed to have, making it impossible to hit anything that isnt fully in the open. this has been an issue for months. you should be surprised when gaijin does something sensible, not when they do not.
@@opposed2logic The T30 has overpressure on it's 155mm HE shell either turned off or set to something like a 75mm shell, it can't kill shit at all anymore with it. Last I checked it also still has an ammo rack floating outside the turret so you can be ammo racked by Arty or any stray bullet.
This thing reminds me a lot of the LVKV 9040 between having IRST (something all variants of the StrF/CV 90 have in real life), APFSDS and proxy fused shells and a ready-rack autocannon there's a lot they have in common when it comes to capabilities, except for the 2s38 being superior in virtually every way and at a lower BR.
it also really reminds me of the HSTVL, with its IRST, and proxy shells both things the HSTVL had in real life

IMO both the 2S38 and the BMP-2M should go to 10.3 but 10.0 at the very least would be a step in the direction.
The 2M would be right at home at 10.0, but the 2S38 is definitely 11.0 material

Hey Phly thought I should mention another Severely under tiered Vehicle would have to be the IKV 103. It was 5.0 then it got lowered to 4.7, now it's at 4.0..... It has 105mm Heat-FS at 400mm of pen -15 degrees of gun Depression, +20 degrees of Elevation, and about the same reload as most medium tanks. It has no armor really at all but it's mobility is like a M18.
Ironically, the IKV 103 would be *better* at a higher BR. Fewer fast firing guns, same amount of .50 cals, and the same rather beefy round.

Hey Phly, you should try out the American T32 at 7.3. The thing is quick for the amount of abuse it can take, It's really fun to play. I highly recommend it, lol.
This is literally an 11.0 (now 11.3 realistically) masquerading as a 9.7 and to say it's a meme is stupid at this point, this is literally Russian bias.
And it wont be fixed, they'll probably say "look we moved it to 10.3" and it will still be massively under tiered. It is an 11.0/11.3, full stop.

I can't make up my mind whether the devs lean in that much to their 'statistics' or if this is just a blatant cash grab. @@goliath3413 I mean I hate generic answers like 'everyone does' but in this case almost everyone does in fact say that. I don't mind playing against it much so I don't have much skin in the game but I think it's fair to say it's objectively better than any other IFV in the game in most metrics.
Personally I have little issue using it in my 11.0 lineup; in fact it's insanely good there. God forbid you're in an 8.3 vehicle facing it. It's basically got everything you can possibly want barring maybe gun depression but that's pretty typical for Russian vehicles (the gun depression).

But the moment ussr is given anything that is a + on paper, its suddenly russian bias and "OP". The only thing that is OP, in my opinion, in bmp2m is turret traverse. Its faster than some spaa and i dont find that right.
i wish they would just add a actual ground rb with nothing but ground vehicles, and then have a mixed rb which is basically what ground rb is at the moment
not sure if there's a keybind for it. but you can activate drone thermals by pressing and holding alt then click the nvd button in the hud

I tested that thank you the biggest issue it the fuel tank at the front will EAT 100% of the spalling when a shell goes in to the crew compartment on top of that the hit box of the crew is super slim so you can have a sabot fly right past ta crew and they not take any damage.
These vehicles are the reason I feel and do better with Wiesel MK 20 then a Leo 2 A4 on 10.0.
Probably why the former costs 7500 SL to repair while the Prem. Leo 2 about 4500 SL.

Ikv91 is pretty good at br cos of laser range finder, If you get 6.3 ranged map it’s a free nuke
this car is just super, I love it for my crooked hands, it just absolutely fits. and also the combination of SU 25 you are just a candy.
This thing gonna have biggers shells but refill stow faster than a CV9040, thats some balanced technology
Ground vehicle spawn areas need to be defended like airfields. I think doing that would add another level to the game, you could make the defenses destructible but would require vehicles like Sturmtigers or bunker busting aircraft loads.
it would just remove aircraft from the game because the maps are too small.
If a plane even got near the battlefield it would be shot down by tank spawn AA.
@@Opalthira Good. It would force aircraft to choose there approach very carefully as you would have to in a real battle ground. It would be then up to the enemy ground vehicles to shut such AAA down. The maps are huge, it's just the area you can access is small.

Its one of the three unbound options you can see at the bottom middle of your hood when flying the drone. i don't know what the options called in controls but you can activate it anyway by holding alt, or whatever you have bound to free your cursor, and clicking on the left most option while flying

Recently got the AH-1F and I think this has been the only vehicle to kill me aside from a single bmp and T72.. so like 99% of my deaths so far are from this thing.

We Just got done with the PT-76-57 cancer and now Gaijin gives us another Russian 57mm Autocannon that they refuse to balance.
They need to buff the hstvl cuase even if they brought this up to 11.0 it would still just be a significantly better and more versatile version of it
I've been complaining about this since the 2S38 was dropped, it's almost insulting the Russian bias here, HSTV-L is 11.0 right now with 1.5 reload and 275mm pen and 2S38 with 0.5 reload 225mm pen, lock radar and proximity shell is 9.7, it's a joke

It should be at least 10.3, but 10.7 is where it should be at. The Turms should go to 10.0, the Su-25 10.3.

You should use the german eurocopter tiger. Since jt has the 360 degrees rotation(gunner sight) you should shoot a hot 3 missle then turn around. Idk why just a funny video
