    I would like to say thank you so so much. This by far is the best BMW Z4 video I have ever seen. U saved me a lot of money by replacing the starter myself. Now I see why they charge so much to replace it. This video was perfect step by step removal on the air intake manifold. I truly want to say thank you for taking the time to make this video.❤️

    Thanks for posting the diy videos, i just bought a 528i with the 2.8l. It had a blown head gasket...your videos have been more that helpfull on how to do the job correctly and what tools will be needed.
    Waiting in the head to come back from the machine shop, hope everything goes back together and no more issues.
    Thanks again!

    I am so happy to thank you for showing me how to remove the intake mainfold because I plan to install a new temperature coolant sensor so I can do that for the replacement. It is very good process in showing how to remove step by step. Thank you again.

      My freind im just going to a full day and lots of patients you have to take out entire manifold and air box mass airflow .The wires and plugs that you remove when you lift the manifold up mark them with a piece of tape and put a letter or numer on them .When your pluging them back in you will make things a lot less of pain in the ass.By doing that saves you time so you don't have to sit there thinking were you pulled that one off from and take the tape off as you go.Also check dry rot on vac hoses and replace if you need to.

    Great video Nathan, I have 2006 BMW 325CI E46 (convertible), and so happened the coolant pipes under the intake manifold start to leak. I am a DIYer, and few months ago I replaced the entire cooling system hoses , radiator, WP , and thermostat, only to get this leak pops on me last week. From what I have seen in the video , the engine on my 325CI looks very similar to the one you worked on . Is there anything I should watch out for, or any difference to other issues in taking out the intake manifold?. I have ordered the two pipes from pelican auto parts and will get them tomorrow. I do appreciate your help, Thank you

    I have a 2000 Z3 with a 2.8l. It's kicking my ass trying to figure out why it went from running perfect, to misfiring and running horrible and not even drive able. I changed and checked:
    Both Vanos
    Intake and exhaust cam sensors
    New plugs
    New coils
    New MAF
    DISA is fine, holds vacuum
    Fuel pressure is rock solid, even when running like shit.
    Smoke checked and NO vacuum leaks.

    Hey. I am lost. IF you follow the line where my plugs and ignition coils back towards the cabin, I have a hole (bolt, hose, plug - I dont know) and air is escaping from the engine causing loss of compression. I cannot see it, because it is between the firewall on the passenger side and the engine itself. If anyone is following me - can you tell me what goes in that hole? It is right above the manifold - the manifold faces the wheel well but the hole is behind the engine ... I cannot find this answer anywhere

  • @JohnIsett
    @JohnIsett 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Nathan! I have found you shouldn't have to remove the wire clips on the injector electrical rail connectors. Just grab the rail and give it a firm pull up. It will zip off. This works for all such rails including V8s. It is a 5 second job! The Bentley manuals are in error if they say to loosen clips. Thanks for your willingness to share.

    • @NathansBMWWorkshop
      @NathansBMWWorkshop  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      John Isett half of the time the m54's won't pull off right, I have noticed that lately, the m62tu always pulls off easily

    • @JohnIsett
      @JohnIsett 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks, Nathan. I haven't worked as many engines as you, so perhaps I haven't encountered the problem ones. Perhaps a shot of WD-40 on the connectors might help it go more smoothly--I would suspect dirt to be an issue. I always clean my engines before disassembling so perhaps there is residual lubrication of the clip locks from the water. I start on one end and "unzip" the rail. Try some lube next time and see if that doesn't help--certainly easier than driving yourself crazy loosening the clips and watching one fly into a blackhole! :-P (By the way, you have a patience and persistence rarely seen today--and you explain so clearly and your steps are easily followed. Thanks!)

    At 16:40 does anyone know what the name of blocking that pipe is or how to go about it? Mine snapped taking the manifold off so need a fix 🤦🏼‍♂️😂

      Mine snapped too well the flapper part, I just hooked it up without it. Seems to run the same.

    Do you have to drain the oil if you remove the dipstick tube?
