Shoichi aoki said that there's no cool kids to photograph, but i seen a lot A LOT LOT LOTTT like a japanese instagram account going around harajuku or shinjuku or shibuya (i don't remember) and there's still a lot of cool kids that still has the vibe of fruits magazine in late 90s
true, the point is that nowadays it's all derivative from styles that have existed for ages and outfits that have been done to death. it's not new, unique or individual in any way, it just seems so compared to how most people nowadays dress which is exactly the same
There are definitely still people who have great fashion there, but it's not as unique and ubiquitous as it used to be in the 2000's. Harajuku itself is experiencing a subculture decline - many of the harajuku fashion brand stores that were there for years have closed down. And there aren't as many people partaking in subcultures of fashion today as there used to be back then. I was just in Tokyo few months ago, and everyone was wearing monochromatic clothing and oversized clothing, similar to what people in Seoul are wearing. Vintage fashion is still huge there, but subctulures like goth, Fairy Kei, Decora, Otome, are kind of dying out.
@@kirbysaurus5670that's not true tho, if you really stalk those instagram accounts you'll see many many creative and unique styles. japanese people living in tokyo are way more creative than any white tiktoker could ever be, so maybe that's the people you thought of? just alt people copying each other's style on tiktok and nothing else. but at the end of the day there's a limitation on how creative humans can be with fashion anyways. there will be a time where everything has been done before and everything else after that is just taking inspo from the first ever crazy style published in those magazines, but you can still be creative and make up something cool and outstanding
omg so cool you're inspired by japanese fashion!!!! I am studying Japanese at university and spent one year as an exchange student near Osaka in 2022! My friends there own a vintage/secondhand store and they had the coolest fashion!!! The clothes in Germany seem so dull and boring in comparison, i could cry lol :') really can't stress enough how much I love your channel and your sense of fashion. You're amazing, keep it going!!🥺✨️
i'm obsessed with your videos! seeing how creative and intentional you are with your outfits has really inspired me to experiment with my own style and now i refuse to leave the house without at least seven layers of clothing and three patterns on my body
8:45 is the cover model Yuuri? Shoichi Aoki certainly had some favourites :) Awesome styling! You are so good with playing with silhouettes and really nailed this. Makes me look at a lot of pieces I own differently.
My son is half Japanese- so we’ll definitely go one day when he’s older - hope you get your dream!! Sure you will - thanks for making such cool videos love
Wow you look so beautiful and tomboyish in those long denim overalls! You should definitely wear them more you look so cute in those overalls! ☺️ awesome job on this video! 😊
There are websites and apps that can help translate the magazines if you really wanted to read them. Google translate even has a feature where you can translate a photograph or translate live by pointing your phone camera at the page. Might not be a perfect translation, but it would give you the general idea at least. Enjoyed the video ❤
I love the outfits and sheer creativity that comes out of trying to make a statement with the pieces you have access to. I hate the homogeneity of fashion today thanks to mass produced clothing - the amount of times I've seen people wearings clothes that I own or see people wearing the exact same pieces as me is absurd and kind of creepy. I hope fashion moves towards a more ethical, sustainable and creative direction where the clothes we wear actually mean something. And for f*ck's sake, I hope rich people stop cosplaying as the poor. Anyway, loved the video and your outfits, keep it up because you're doing amazing.
Hi, how much did you pay for one of those magazines? I would like to buy one but 50 dollars on eBay seems too much for a magazine. Are the prices on eBay good? Thank you Anyway your outfits are so cool!
I unfortunately paid the $50 lol 😔 it's hard to find cheap ones outside of Japan but you could always go on a japanese proxy website such as buyee or zenmarket and you can find a lot of cheap ones on there!! But the catch is then you have to pay the shipping import costs which baiscally becomes as expensive as ordering the $50 ones off ebay lol. I wish they were easier to find 😔
