My hat's off to you and all farmers across the fruited plains. You are so foundational to the survival of mankind and work your tail off almost 24/7 yet city folk have no idea how important you are. You are the embodiment of rugged individualism. Kudos to you unsung heroes!
Rats and mice will hoard food or baits. They will just keep dragging baits into their nesting areas or hiding places until they die off. So, many baits will remain wherever the rats or mice dragged or carried them to and hid them. Future rats or mice will eventually discover those hidden baits and eat them and die. I've seen mice drag a large bar of Ivory soap across a stone floor so they can carry or move baits as well as a rat.
Feel your pain.... After 5 years of Tomcat noshing... This year total failure for bait block and pellets. Ratzilla ate a quarter bucket of pellets over 2 days... Used the modify Rat Trap from Twin Home Experts. Setting out JT Easton 902 bait station and ZP....😮
I've been using pvc pipes and wire so far this fall and it works great. The racoons can't take off with them and most of the opossums occupying the area around the barn are too big to fit in the larger pvc that I set out in case of rats.
Talon weather block kills mice and rats with no mercy. I owned a ranch and had to go to war with the rats. Like I say no mercy it wipes them out. And might even wipe out opossums too cuz I found something dead that had been decomposing and I couldn't tell what it was but it appeared to be too big to be a rat.
Yeah when I wrote this I was less in tuned with nature as I'm trying to be now. I have a job where I run into possum's regularly and I honestly save them as often as I can.
I have had mice/rat/squirrel don't really know so I woke to hear it chewing on what sounds like wood. So I was thrilled to see in email package from Amazon was delivered, I grabbed the to cat sweet smelling blocks opened attic stairway and started throwing block up and I pray I kill them off before they cause short that burns my house down. I had bought A six pack of disposable bait station and nothing so I finally got pliers and broke out the guard in those and in three days bait was gone except small piece in back of stations. Please pray for me to not hear the chewing gnawing sound in the night.
I wouldn't advertise that to people because it's against the law to do that legally. Against the law to poison possum's or raccoons . If you can afford to pay an exterminator then don't use poison if you can afford not to. People use it usually only if they are to poor to have them removed.
This video is not an advertisement or sponsored in anyway. You need to look up about husbandry exemptions in "laws." Self reliance is a key trait in farming and homesteading and has nothing to do with wealth. The idea of hiring help to exterminate raccoons and opposums in the country on land over 100 acres is crazy. A farmer can set livetraps in a barn area and catch several each night. Do you think the farmer is rehoming them elsewhere? The truth is the ones livetrapped are shot just like an intruder. 30 chickens killed in 1 night from a racoon tearing open the chicken wire, that is reality. We are not poisoning the raccoons and possums. This is mouse a rat poison. If they take the bait and it works it's a bonus. I wonder why you are watching a video about such topics if it offends you. I apologize if this video content has offended your sensitive nature and hope you best wishes in your extermination.
To her point you are not exempt from federal law and what you didn't isn't only illegal it irresponsible and ignorant. Look up the EPA's current agenda to restrict rodenticide useage only to licensed commercial applicators. It is because of this behavior and this complete lack regard for wildlife that they are trying to take away a very useful material away from the public.
Great video. I'm thinking of throwing it in some holes in my yard. They are tearing up my lawn. I've seen lots of mice, voles, and skunks in my neighborhood. Do u think tomcat is the way to go? I just hope I don't see dead mice when I mow, I'm terrified of them lol
@@j887276 For real. I don't like snakes either but I would rather have a snake than rats. Snakes are not nasty, don't destroy & chew everything & they don't carry all these deadly diseases. Snakes will also leave you alone for the most part unless they are forced to deal with you.
You're not likely to have a ton of success by just tossing one of those blocks down a groundhog hole, however if you get some groundhog lure (a paste made from fruits that they like), then smash one of the green blocks into dust, you can mix the dust in the groundhog lure and throw a few blobs down the hole. They will gobble it up and then magically disappear.
@@mommymilestones Good, I'm sure it will work out for you. I usually use conibear traps, but after they see a few of their friends caught in one, they wise up pretty quickly. They have never been able to figure out my poisonous lure trick though.
I agree for sure. 2020 is a laundry list of barn repairs to do. A covered chicken run, new window and hardware cloth are planned for the chickens before I start a new flock.
Came here to say this! Can’t blame critters being attracted to the feed, grain and sugar you leave laying about easy access. All that excessive poison is also unhealthy to you too btw. Have a secure, sealed up barn and store all feed in a proper manner. You need doors! If a chicken cost $25 each and a bucket of poison costs $25 then you’re throwing money away. Saying you’re buying more poison that will eventually end up in your body and food chain is kinda obtuse. Never met a successful, happy or healthy “homesteader.” Trying to live like early settlers will break modern people. It just wasn’t meant to be. It goes against human evolution.
Don't waste time get the RED TOM CAT BAIT. USE the bait boxes that are enclosed with the 4 wires in to stack the bait on. KIlls them dead. We have no dogs or cats.
Im sure it would work, if the live traps will go off or keep them in. The newer ones from tractor supply are pretty useless. I had a racoon bend the trap closure and got out. I can not seem to bend it right to make it useable or reliable at the same time.

Don’t ever worry about people’s comments about how you run your house....do what you need to do to make life easy for you and your family...

Exactly
Maybe worry a little bit when you are breaking the law and video documenting it.
Love what you do! Keep up the great work!
Thank you!
Real women are so beautiful! Thanks for the tips!
I use it. It’s extremely useful. I cover mine in syrups.

Bit if the rat eat the poison n they eat the rat won't hurt the cat?
Cats wont eat dead animals. They want to kill it themselves.
You need to put them in a bait box. It will stop other animals from stealing the bait.

Keep on trapping and removing the rodents is a great idea

What do with them once you trapped them
The mice are killed, I incinerate them with the trash. Predators are shot and disposed of.
@@mommymilestones ok cool
Keep stackin'em up
Do it actually work I just purchased some?
Yes
Do they kill possum’s?
No
Will it work for Rabbits? They’re eating all of my front yard.
I doubt it,, Our barn cats hunt the rabbits.
@ I live in an HOA community. I don’t have barn cats. 😂
When the rats die, don't they decompose if you can't find them and stink up the place?
No

Did it work? I’m thinking about buying this bait and doing the same. The squirrels in my attic are driving me crazy.
I got some of this too for rats and mice with the little house cause I have dogs
Keep the dogs away from it! Use the bait box or tie it with wire inside of a PVC pipe cut off.

Woodchucks do not go near it. So , the name is used interchangably in our area. Ive heard there is specialized bait for them to use with a trap.

How do you keep the squirrels and raccoons out?
Theyre are farm pest too. We set live traps for them as well. They destroy feed and kill chickens.

Rodenticides like these kill more than rodents. :(
Raccoons and possums dug up my flowers and bushes all way to the roots. Time to give them this
Look up fly bait and coke
By the way, opossums and raccoons will kill a medium sized cat. Get your rifle and take care of those vermin.
Yes our barn cat population always goes down as the critters get flooded out of the creek areas.
