- TEAM SGG PATREON / somegadgetguy Geekom A5 Review! This is a beast of a mini PC! Using a great little AMD chip, this is sweet overkill for daily computing tasks. It's exciting to see this performance in a computer this small, but the price tag is even nicer!

I bought the A5 and absolutely love having a mini gaming rig I can take anywhere
They're such rad little machines.
So like no to bigger games like Pal world etc.. or whaaa -just a small brain here asking lol- ❤
I think you can definietly play palword since it require less resources than the game at 7:07
Thank you for reviewing our product. Your feedback on GEEKOM products is greatly appreciated!
I've always been interested in these mini pc's. Im not into AAA games too much, so i would mainly use one for indie games off steam 😮
Oh man. These little boxes are getting REAL good at chewing through indie games and older emulation. The price/performance is kinda crazy looking at chips from about 2 years ago.
Thats a really good computing device for $399
It's such a good price. 🥹
Is there a way to upgrade the graphics card or add one?
Do you think this could handle console streaming, Juan? Nothing fancy: A camera, the game and some alerts. Looking out for cheap options for my younger brother who's into that world.
Do you mean, the game is played on a console, and this PC is just set up for streaming the gameplay and a camera feed to something like Twitch?
If that's the question, I think it could handle that well for routing dual 1080p video feeds yeah.
You might not even need something this beefy.
@@SomeGadgetGuy Yes, that's exactly the question. My brother has a PS4 and I got him a cheap capture card and since my parents don't wanna buy him a "full-fledged" PC just yet, I'm looking for cheap alternatives to convince them and this Mini PC might be it.
So the middle slot is ssd 2242 Nvme or sata? I saw another video and they say its sata but in this video it looks like m.2 nvme
This guy is the best!
This comment is the best 🙂
Looking at these, I wish windows could bring back windows media center and bluetooth remote support maybe. I use jellyfin right now, but i would like if i could use local media
NO JOKE! I was seriously thinking of turning my "tv PC" into a steam machine.
Ryzen 5000 series still plenty powerful, so I'm still okay with it. Compared to its equivalent 11th gen Intel Core rival, the Ryzen still gives faster performance.
P.S. About 5:14, I do think that LumaFusion has fewer features than DaVinci Resolve, which contributes to faster rendering time. But I do agree about your earlier point regarding light video editing. It can easily be done on phones, even in Desktop Mode.
Oh yes LumaFusion is certainly not as full featured as Resolve, but those features shouldn't be weighing down the rendering engine if you aren't using those features. My test is a simple timeline of clips, with a fade transition, a watermark, and a soundtrack. Nothing in that timeline should be stressing resolve. It's just the kind of quick-clip edit that LumaFusion excels at. If someone is shooting some family clips, and wants to make a little family video of the day, chances are VERY high, that the video will be finished faster on the phone they shot the clips, and they won't have to transfer footage to another PC.
Will this run photoshop well?
Pretty cool Juan👍
Geekdom is much more expensive than other Chinese brands. We got the similar 6 core 5600H 16gb/1Tb with vega 7 for $210. I also got the GMKTEC K2 with 7735HS cpu 16/512gb for $320. the k2 GPU performance is TWICE the A5 reviewed here. All from aliexpress.
Ah! Aliexpress. Some great deals there. Usually the main cost savings comes from buying barebones and installing your own RAM/storage though. So just like Ace, Beelink, and Minisforum, you can always get a better deal the more you DIY, but for folks who want the easier "buy it and use it", there's always going to be a premium on that.
@@SomeGadgetGuyIn my experience buying 3 mini pcs, i think buying it with memory and ssd is a better option. the asking price for the extra components was more than fair. The extra $70 for 16GB ddr5/512gb ssd also included a Windows 11 pro license. it was a huge time saver as i did not have issues hunting for drivers.
I'm hoping we don't see too many price hikes on components at the end of the year. Looks like Samsung is trying to force higher prices on SSDs.
Would be cool to fit one of these with a Noctua fan to make it nearly silent.
It would make it less compact, but it would be nice to add a different cooler up top.
Im really confused mine is stupid quiet even when playing games.
Afful PC, Noise like a Boing Jet.
Support on site useless, 0 help.
There seems to be a newer version shipped by Geekom. My first A5 was way to loud, even idling on the Desktop. I killed my A5 by misconfiguring somethin in the BIOS. After that my A5 was bricked. Unfortunatly there ist no clear cmos button or contact in this mini pc. Even disconnecting the biosbattery over night didnt helt (also shortcutting the battery contacts on the board).
So, after an email to the support, I sent back my A5 and after a few days I received my new one.
The new one is absolutely quit at the desktop and is only hearable on heavy load.
Now I am absolutely satisfyed with this little machine. Even older are running on it (Crysis Remaster for example).
Idle consumption ist at about 6-7Watt, TH-cam or Video with 4K at about 20W.
Oh that's good to know! I was a little concerned, as I KNOW there are AMD laptops that don't constantly spin up fans like this.
