Symbol des Deutschen Wirtschaftswunders, Urvater der Reisemobile, Hippie-Bus: Den VW Typ 2 T1 eine Legende zu nennen, ist fast schon eine Untertreibung: Der Bulli ist kultigerer.
Von 1950 bis 1967 liefen in Wolfsburg und Hannover rund 1,8 Millionen Typ 2 T1 in verschiedenen Ausführungen vom Band. Die meisten endeten nach vielen Jahren im harten Arbeitseinsatz auf dem Schrottplatz. Wer aber überlebte, ist schon lange ein äußerst begehrtes Sammlerobjekt.
Als Survivor weitgehend im Originalzustand. Oder umfangreich restauriert, modernisiert und sogar umgebaut.
Ein solches Fahrzeug ist unser VW Typ 2 T1.
Im Januar 1958 wurde der Kastenwagen im Farbton L31 Taubenblau nach New York ausgeliefert und dort am 15.September 1958 erstmals zugelassen. Bestückt mit einem 1,2 Liter Motor und 30 PS hatte der Export-Bulli bereits die kegelförmigen Blinker in der Frontpartie - in Deutschland lösten sie erst 1960 die in der B-Säule verbauten Winker ab.
55 Jahre rollte der Panel Van für nur zwei Eigentümer über US-amerikanische Straßen. 2013 sah ihn ein Europäischer Bulli-Enthusiast, geparkt an einer Straße in New York. Es war Liebe auf den ersten Blick. Der Bulli wechselte nach Belgien und wurde zwischen 2013 und 2016 aufwendig restauriert.
Zahlreiche Fotos dokumentieren, mit wieviel Kosten und Mühen Karosserie und Technik auf ein Top-Niveau gehoben wurden. Kein Wunder, dass der Panel Van von 2016 bis 2019 Stammgast auf vielen VW-Oldtimertreffen war mehrere Pokale als Best of Show gewann.
2019 wechselte der Van Panel zu seinem aktuellen Eigentümer zurück nach Deutschland.
So steht der VW Typ 2 T1 65 Jahre nach seiner Erstzulassung glänzend da:

Hello, welcome to the kultgarage today for an outdoor shoot of the T1 Bus 1958 in a fantastic condition.
I wanted to show it to you before the car is picked up right now, so have fun with this incredibly great T1 Bulli
yes, this wonderful vehicle was delivered to the USA in New York and in 1958
There by a gentleman in 2013 if I'm not mistaken exactly 2013 a gentleman went to the USA, worked there and there he discovered this car on the side of the road.
the car was originally painted in pigeon blue after his time in the USA in New York The vehicle was then taken to Europe, to be precise to Belgium, the vehicle was fully restored there from 2013 to 2016 and is in really incredible condition, everything was done, the underbody was done, everything is a 1600 engine in it now or there is a 1500 H engine came in there and it was completely reworked and I'll show you and now it has, I think, 69 hp. Let's see if it has another engine, make a video of where it runs, so it's in incredibly fantastic condition here, even if you look at all the critical corners at the back Look at the battery corners and so on, it's really sensational, the vehicle was restored with a lot of love and time, of course money, and yes, that's sensational, it has a complete camping conversion in Westfalia style and with a sleeping bench, yes I'll show you that again in a moment

Now, of course, we also have to show the special feature here, although there is a tennis ball here that has one in mind so that you don't damage it when you open the door, you put this tennis ball here and then you open the door and then see then you skin on the door not on the other door
So and here we have a bench that has been leathered, everything is really nice, so the car was made in the Havana style. You can also see these beautiful little details here with this cigar box down here, we then have storage compartments down here that is also really great and now the absolute thing is that this Belgian previous owner went and got this vehicle, was probably a cigar collector and created this table out of all these cigar bands, so it's really fantastically beautiful and back here, as I said, we have this camping expansion completely here in Westfalia too really great

The roof up here isn't black, I don't know if you can see it now, it's a very dark brown, like a mocha brown, super nice and then of course the roof rack up here as well, as you can already see here, the gutter here too, i.e. the car is completely cleaner
It's also a nice solution. You fastened the suitcase up here, which means you drilled spoons into the suitcase down here and fastened it here and with suspenders so that it doesn't slip or go away
If we can already see, that's also the subfloor
Everything on the threshold is absolutely clean, of course it smells so deep that you can't see it here, but I also have pictures of the underbody on my website and this car is really a dream
