I’ve spent my entire adult life trying to escape digital artifacts only to learn now that they are beautiful. Thank you, Chase Bliss, for schooling me once again and changing my musical mind!
I can imagine decades in to the future, listening to music with intentional lossy artifacts will be a sought-out sound, just as wow and flutter is with vinyl and tape today.
Wow. Just wow. Who knew that digital artifacts could be so musical? I have a feeling this is a fun pedal to just get lost in and go back to a simpler time when you never were sure if that MP3 you were downloading was the right song, but I suppose that's all a part of the adventure!
I started the Knobs demo and thought, "wow, this isn't for me." Then I watched all the other demoes and thought, "wow, this isn't for me." Then I came back to the Knobs demo. Wow, this is a must have. I feel like generally, demoes give you a pretty good idea of a pedal's possibilities, but this is the only one that really does it for me.
The ability to dial in a perfect instance of low-file-size MP3 soundscape on specific elements of a mix instead of the whole mix opens up the world of peaceful vibeful coexistence.
Thank you so much for reminding me of this album. Oh my god. I remember that one song with the music video being about the moon being too close to the earth? So it was killing everybody?
This is what a cheap multieffects pedal would sound like if your cat has been pissing on the pcb for six months and you decide to plug it in. Hand one of these over to Hainbach I am sure it will be musical. Thanks Chase Bliss.
The sounds of adolescent computer time. This one hits me right in the heart-shaped digital file. Kinda shocked at the variety of sounds, not what I expected from a digital artifact box. Definitely gotta grab this one!
Wow one of my favorite plugins has now been stuffed into the beautiful pedal enclosures with a verb that chase bliss crafted. Beautiful. The Lossy 2.0 plugin has been my go to lofi plugin for getting close to a decade now. Well I guess lossy 1.0 has been out for a decade. Can’t remember when the 2.0 update hit it.
CB never change. yet another set of instant kitsch knobs. even toys on the table are the same. pity, as CB interface, quality and imagination are almost peerless. for sure you know your market well, but how cool it would be if you could let the kids (and yourself) outgrow this blissful nostalgia. there's no bliss to chase, just the beautification industry. ten years from now Knobs's table will look like Axl''s scarfs do now.
Goodhertz x Chase Bliss ?!?!? Literally two of my favourite music companies, each with so much personality and vibe. I'm so happy. PLEASE DO MEGAVERB OR VULFCOMPRESSOR NEXT!
Perfect tool for a studio, right ? It will be "a must device" like a Space Echo RE 201 in my opinion. I would be use at least two in my rig. Congrats CB crew and thank you Knobs for these wonderful sounds buddy ;-)
Think about it. When recording, a pedal like this can place your guitar in the background of your mix, allowing your vocals and other aspects of the track to occupy the foreground with high fidelity. Set it up, step on it, turn it down and put some vocals over top of the nice mix it creates for you with minimal effort. Nice for intros and Outros too!!!
I'm equally floored by the research that must have gone into this. Like those weird chirps n whistles, the artifacts are incredible. So versatile, like the blooper I'er had since 2019, still finding new ways to use it and incorporate it into my work flow.
All we need now is a microcosm/outward v2 Cooper fx collaboration pedal. I'll take one of those, genloss mk2, mood mk2, lossy, and a 5th CB pedal, putting them all into a behringer model d enclosure, I think that's the only reasonable decision. The thing would be incredible.
@@darionbuck4614 I know but at least one or imagine both collaborating with CB in 1 granular pedal. And if not Hologram, Red Panda would be just as special in my opinion. Meris dominates reverb and delay, CB dominates lo-fi and -.. maybe their preamp pedal or unique delays? To really push chase bliss to dominate the extreme delay space they'd need a granular pedal. Then they'd have 3 killer delay effects just like they have 3 killer lo-fi effects and nothing competes with them.
Damn! I just received a Mood Mkii...you and Empress really revolutionise the concepts and ideas of effects pedal. Well done, oh and whatever you do, please stick with stereo!
@@gl00merz Yes! It's worth a lot of money! :)...jokes apart, the original mood can give you spectacular drones and grit, not present in the new mkii, but you can 95% repeat the mk1 behaviour by flicking a switch on the mkii and still have a stereo behaviour which lacked on the original mk1. On top of that well you get a proper stereo pedal, which for me counts 100%, and then you also get the fade function for the microlooper which is fundamental for ambient, then you the latching function for the switches, which is gold, no noise if you don't want it and many other little improvements...the mood mk2 could do all the drones and background wonderful moving sound and the Lossy can create that wonderful atmosphere...sorry I am talking from the point of view of an ambient musician
I’m getting me some fennez vibes real hard with this. Maybe this is all I ever wanted in a pedal. Was the stereo swirling in the intro a mono track going into the pedal and coming out stereo?
I haven't bought a pedal for almost a year. DIdn't quite make it. As someone who's always adored the Ottobit Jr this gives me similar feels, but shot into the variable bit rate stratosphere with a side of DMT, and I am so on board.
It’s incredible how y’all have made so many genuinely new guitar effects. You turned Real Player into an instrument and it’s gorgeous. I’m a computer person who cut my teeth in the late 90s. So I’m imagining this as old lossy audio compression, traffic shaping it as UDP, and different algorithms to handle the datagram latency, loss, jitter, etc. But then inverting the loss is extra mind blowing. Any implementation I can think of would require a full OS and still behave in near real time. People may balk at the price tag, but the hardware and engineering here is insane. And putting it all in a package that still feels analog. My mind is officially blown.
I just got my Generation Loss MK2 - that seems to do the exact same thing, just in baby blue. Can someone please explain the difference to me or why my very recent purchase hasn't been an utter waste of money, now that something newer came out, just a few months later?
I just got one too but don't see how this is the same at all. If you really sit down with headphones and watch the video, this is insanely unique. As someone else described, Gen loss is analog tape warbles and pops. This is a digital lo fi emulation.
Gonna watch this again in 240p
gotta go 144p
@@HenritheHorse so much loss....

Same here! Remember in the 90's when we were stuck in that "lo-fi" dimension and could not escape? All our old crusty tapes are now "the thing"!
I can imagine decades in to the future, listening to music with intentional lossy artifacts will be a sought-out sound, just as wow and flutter is with vinyl and tape today.
The acoustic guitar through this is what sold me immediately.
I think I'm gonna just listen to music through this at home and become a lo-fi chill animation. So pretty💕
Ughhhhh I'm trying to be smarter financially and this doesn't help.
Verbatim thoughts. Just got reverse mode c among other pedals 😂
Do you have the Gen Loss?
I bought it without even watching the video… 💸

Really beautiful Knobs as always, a treat for the senses. ❤
Glad I read this before commenting, thought they were ripping him off 😅
2 minutes in and already a must buy. Wow.
Oh wow 🌸
Please make some special colorways to look like late 90's computers 😭😭
