After watching this video, I am homesick. When my Dad retired in 1987 my folks moved into Trump Village on W4th and Brighton beach Ave. They had that apartment until my Mom's passing in 2016.Used to love coming back to Brooklyn from Atlanta. Miss my Mom and Brighton Beach, not to mention going to the beach every summer from a very early age. With Parents, then friends then dates....

I live in the area. I can truly say Russian/Ukrainian people are the nicest most hospitable people. As an African American I can walk into any Russian establishment and don’t feel afraid. No one is following me. They treat you just like one of them. I’ve experienced racism all my life growing up in America and I can truly say Russians are a different kind of white people😂 I did some research as to why and found a lot of very interesting surprising history.
Yes, there might be one or two who is racist but it’s so few…..( ..once in 10 years) that it doesn’t effect how I feel walking in Brighton or interacting with anyone. I’m a hospice nurse and I love going to Russian peoples home! The best! I have even learned to speak some Russian. Most of my older patients speak to me in Russian so I pretty much had no choice😂😂😂😂 My neighbors are great!

I love this especially that Russian grandma. I will look for her the next time I come back to New York. My first time in Russia was really just a transit in Moscow but it was still technically the Soviet Union for one more year! I travelled back then to Vietnam by way of Aeroflot from Montreal. The trip was on an IL62 which is the coolest looking passenger jet ever built with only exception being the Concorde. Here in Vietnam where I live we have excellent Russian food as there is some Russian community. I have been to Russia a few times since then and have been able to travel around and visit homes of the families of Russian friends from Vietnam. People who misunderstand Russia from the press should go there and see it. Peace through understanding!

Best Regards to my former Friends from Kharkov!!
I remember the autumn of 1981, where the Gold War was on ots top, and suddenly! one of closed friends of mine, whose relatives imegrated to New York told me, that
the jeans from the NY is too small to him, and he would rather sell it...
It was - I still remember!!- the Brooklyn Jeans from NY ! Still renember it, still have deep in my heart... I wish, I eoul have bougth it !!!!

I move to Kip's Bay this fall, and am currently trying to find some places in that area. I think this channel might be the key to my research!

I live in the U.K., but some of my best friends live in Brighton Beach, and they are Russian immigrants. The family visited me, I haven't got over there yet, but it's definitely a great place to live. I make a bit of a mess in the kitchen, trying to make some Russian recipes, but the taste makes up for it. More New York videos please!
