That's usually a sign of a good upbringing, appreciating the golden oldies of cars / bikes etc. I know beauty and taste is "in the eye of the beholder", but there is no denying AT ALL, that the old styling is timeless. Older cars, even boring and more shoddy ones, they all have individual character. An interesting uniqueness about them. Even the sound is often raw and awesome, no stupid exhaust designed to output a specific sound. And modern cars, while often way more impressive performance wise, they're cold with no charm, and they seem as though they've all been styled by the same robot factory... 🥴
The 300zx with twin turbo was pretty crazy ngl but when it comes to z's the newer Gen's have always been better either at the track or in a straight line.
Mine as well, regrettably. Nothing but trouble with that car. And you're right, some of those "old" cars back then were newer than the "new" cars are today.

The C6 Corvettes in terms of acceleration were faster then the current vets. The C6 ZR1 was an absolute rocket and still is. The C7 ZR1 needs 700+ to keep up and best the older generation. Weight kills everything speed handling and driving feel.
I love the C6, but the C4 ZR1 could do 0-60 in 4.4 seconds and top out at over 180 MPH, back in the mid 90s with a naturally aspirated V8, before the LS was born.
i imagine they didn't do more of this one - because it was a tad long and boring, and two, as we got further away from the 80s it really became no contest across the board
Some cars from the 90s were quick they hardly weighed anything. The r33 skyline turbocharged would probably give the gtr a good go today even though it's 25 year old

The new Puma ST is supposed to be a good hot hatch but frankly I think it's embarrassing compared to the slick little coupe from 20 years ago. It looks like a pig on stilts. It's far faster than the old 1.7 Puma but I can't like it

There are two versions of the mk4 Golf GTI; an NA 2 litre, which is not that fast, and a 1.8 turbo. I bet they used the 2 litre for that race.
