My husband and I drove through the areas a few weeks after the tornado. It was horrible devastation. The homes were leveled in sub-divisions. It was a miracle there wasn’t more deaths.
Today is April 22, 3:50 EDT, and more storms are moving toward the same area again. Theses storms may drop lower and skirt along the lower part of the southeastern states before turning to go up along the Appalachian mountain range, but it would be wise to keep an eye open over the next few days if you live in the southern states.
I live in Chattanooga Tn and I was looking at tv we had no warning just the news saying a strong storm coming then our lights went out and came back on we turn the news and the lady said we just a report saying a tornado just touch down here she started crying on the air and it was bad because the next day.....omg 2020 has been the worse...
Wow I got alert but all day it had been saying there was a tornado warning issued for our area because of Georgia so it suprised me that it was actually for our county I think I jinxed myself I said we weren't getting anything severe and then all of a sudden a tornado warning!!!!😦
@mountaingal homemaker they are used for nucular bombs because we live close to them so they can't use them but ya my mom looked outside years ago and the skyes were green and she thankfully knew what that meant but if she didn't she could have never known cause she had no alert
Michelle O'neal yeah watch for odd colored skies, hail and clouds moving different directions. Usually a sign the conditions might be right. The news warned plenty of times before touch down but they need sirens since it’s becoming more common.
If you are looking for more info on this tornado, it struck at around 22:19 EDT on April 12th, 2020. The path it took can be booked. It touched town around the Harrison hills region and continued it's north-east path. It caused EF3 level damage along the area. It uprooted numerous trees, too.
It was terrible..it hit at 11:30 pm and nobody was prepared. Behind my house it touched down, so close to death. My father helped with clean up that night while we were taking my mom had to get to work. At the moment most active roads are mostly closed. The now death toll is 9 people. It’s scary to know you were so close to you. It was between Igou Gap and Jenkins.... I cannot bare to go through it again, very scary..
My brother had to get me and wake up my mom when a tornado warning buzzed on his phone. I was almost asleep, but I was quickly awoken by the words “tornado warning, shelter now.”
I live in downtown Chattanooga.. Once you drive down 24 E towards Knoxville/Atlanta it looks Apocalyptic. My dad lives in East Brainerd and I can't go visit him
2nd tornado that "would never happen" in Chattanooga. I lived in Royal Oaks during the 1st. It came within a quarter mile. Did this one damage Royal Oaks? Jenkins looked wrecked. 3 including Red Bank storm
I live really close to where that went through...less than a mile. It sounded like a train went by. Thank God that EF3 monster didn't hit the house. We did have about 100 mph winds on our street and lost 50+ trees.
Power invertors...they have cheap ones and more higher end ones with multiple outlets...long as you have gas it turns your car into a generator...hell of a lot cheaper than a generator too👍
I live in the ooltewah area where the tornado hit! That night you could hear the pouring down of rain, loud crackling lightning , and feel the strong strong winds hitting against the house, scary like something out of a movie scene but it was no movie!!!😱 We only loss power and some food. We're thankful and grateful to be alive. I didn't leave my home until Tuesday. Seeing the destruction from the tornado brought tears to my eyes. I'm praying for all who was impacted by this deadly storm.🙏🙏 THANK YOU TO THE MANY organizations and people who have helped with trying to get the areas cleaned up, providing food/water, supplies, donations , protecting the streets/homes from looters, and restoring power, the list goes on. 👏👏 My condolences to the families who lost loved ones or pets. MAY GOD CONTINUE TO GIVE US THE STRENGTH AND WILL TO REBUILD!!! CHATTNOOGA STRONG!!!!💪
@Eni I know & the saddest part is they "do it in the name of science" like how is deforestation good for climate change? And how is deep sea mining "sustainable" . The tsunami that hit Japan in 2011 was something that really got my attention. Deep sea mining needs to be illegal but "atleast they're doing it for science" 😥🙄
@Eni idk how to say this, but friend, when you speak on things or happenings that are considered "conspiracy theories" you need to know the true definition of conspiracy theory & youd know it doesn't mean it's fake. Instead it is with good intention that you may be sorta right but mining (especially deep sea) could really end humanity. And as long as they're allowed to drill out deepest depths, we could gravely suffer each day. It's about money love. Only money. The facts that making billions while risking mankind was ok bc it was for science 💚🤑
Lots of damage and people needing help for sure!!!! So with that being said the Hamilton County sherriff's office needs to quit being douchebags and let the contractors pass thru so they can fix these homes!!!! They don't care if the homeowners are waiting on you to arrive or not they turn you around!!!! Its ridiculous!!!!
Well if he used to live in the area or knows it well, than he is experiencing a lot of grief cause he probably knows people and where they live and it being all lost. Also if you report on negative news everyday and see it everyday, than its no wonder they seem soulless. With everything going on and also the bad decisions pele can make, it can haunt anybody who comes along their path
@@JORDANLEWISFILM they become desensitized, ive lost many loved ones inc through homicide, yet i still have empathy and compassion and feel others pain.!
@Adrienne Adrienne sky can😂 talking about hell, il tell you about HELL, those who are not born again in JESUS CHRIST go straight to hell forever, so let's hope everyone repents and gets saved, those who believe in JESUS CHRIST get saved, those who dont, well, its between them and GOD as judgement of a soul happens immediately after death,as its appointed for a person to die then comes the judgement.
They used to say that when I was a little girl. My teacher taught us that the mountains protected us from them but if a tornado got in, then the mountain would trap it inside the valley. Edit: I was born and raised there for abt 43 of my years. Tornadoes were unheard of until the millennium. Now, every few tears.
Apparently, only a negligible few do build concrete reinforced homes in tornado alley. Is it too hard to figure it out? I can already prophesy that this will happen again dozens of time this summer and next summer and the next after that.
C. J. Do we live in tornado alley?! NO!!! We have been told for years that Chattanooga was protected from tornadoes because we are surrounded by mountains. Then God proved the experts wrong in 2011.
My coworker lost half his roof and his power and his job since were on furlough. He’s definitely having a hard time. I’ve tried to make contact and offer help but I can’t get through on the phones.

Well I didn't get that because I live on the other side of the county but I go there all the time on East Brainerd
The video of the flooded Hardee’s restaurant IS NOT from Chattanooga!! There is no need to sensationalize a news story. Shame on you.

@Eni 😕
It was a EF3
When this happens it was literally right over our house when we got the alert

Two blocks from my house.
Eyewitnesses in Chattanooga described the tornado as sounding like a choo-choo.
Exactly the sound.
@@frankderryberry1412 I misspoke. I meant earwitnesses. Thanks!
i was there! it was so scary ☹️
Yeah I was like were not getting anything and then all of a sudden tornado warning

Sure did!😩
But did the "choo choo" get damaged?

The icon is our old house 2:12
We got hammered near our house on east brainerd road it was pretty bad. We got lucky.
We thought a tornado couldn’t get in Chattanooga because of the mountains?!?!
That's a myth
We get tornados every few years ;-;
This has happened twice.
That doesn't mean we can't get tornadoes everywhere on this earth can have a tornado

I’m in Ooltewah but the impact was just as bad since we are like attached to Chattanooga.
OMG 😱.
