This is my hometown, I moved three years ago, half my family still live here, they state they saw the tornado, their house shook, though the tornado didn't hit them, they were fairly far down from the church. I'm so thankful them, and everyone else there lives, rlly, rlly, thankful :
Judging by widespread debris fields scattered among the fields, we need to take a hard look at how we build our homes. Traditional built houses are not built to withstand the force of an F3, F4 or F5 Tornado. We have to think outside the box, (no pun) to gain stability.
What about mobile homes? They aren't built to withstand ANYTHING. Yet most mobile home parks such as the one I live in, do not have tornado shelters. Residents must fend for themselves. The Van Buren County (Michigan) Office of Emergency Preparedness advises residents of mobile home parks to get in the bathtub and pull a mattress over them, contrary to what the NWS advises people to do, which is to leave. But to go where? Unless you are lucky enough to have friends with a basement who live nearby, who are home at the time, and will allow you to stay with them, and provided you also have enough lead time to reach them and that going there will not take you directly into the path of the storm, you are sh*t out of luck. We need to treat tornadoes the way we treat fires. I've been told that it takes money to build or make public shelters available. Well, you know what, it takes money to equip and staff a fire department. It takes money to come up with building codes, to mandate smoke alarms, fire alarms, sprinkler systems, hydrants--yet nobody objects to that money being spent. We don't leave it to each individual homeowner or business owner to decide what kind of safety features they should have in place (if any). Because the reason for those regulations, just like in the airline industry, is written in blood. Let's start taking tornadoes seriously.

Just think all these new paper houses that are being built like there's no tomorrow and stacked up next to each other in what used to be fields. They'll be decimated year after year!!!
It’s pretty common. We’re near enough tornado valley. Indian lake in Ohio supposedly had 3 deaths from a tornado which is about an hour or so away from this tornado in Winchester.

As bad as this may seem , the last Class 5 Hurricane that hit Coastal Louisiana had 150 mph winds and they measured 50 miles in width that's a 50 mile wide F-3 tornado sustained inland for over a hour before loosing any strength at all , that literally destroyed everything in a 50 mile path and 30 -40 miles inland imagine those winds not letting up and you have some idea what a class 5 Hurricane is all about !
Looks like the more expensive brick homes held up much better. If you face your vehicles directly into the wind, up next to your home, they both will hold up better. Also run several 10,000 lb or higher cargo straps across the roof on gable end facing the wind. Also 3/4” precut plywood with bolts ready to install on upwind side of house.
They keep talking about God...the one who did this...by the "grace" of God....the irony is too much. Yea, so much for his grace. "He" even destroyed the churches. U know? The people that worship him daily.

That first image was a partially swept slab
It looks like EF3 to me. EF4+ damage is catastrophic and they also take into account how well the houses hit were constructed.
Nowhere does it look more than F-3 which can be 160 MPH.
