Wow, I love your knitting story, Spring! I crochet more than I knit, but I do enjoy both. My mom taught me to knit. Your shawl is gorgeous! And I love the hot pads. They are so pretty.

Hey Spring!! What a wonderful story and achievements! I sat for months on straight crochet needles I took and modified, knitting and purling, until I got my hands trained. Then bought cheaper needles and it was a struggle, then I bought my ChiaGoo 9 inch circular and made my first sock, then I purchased the ChiaGoo set. It was Heaven. I'm so glad you and your Mom got to knit together. Mom could crochet, plastic craft, make jewelry , whirligigs, Dream Catchers. She was my biggest fan!! Great job on the shawl and all your socks and your journey.

This is a lovely story of how your started knitting. I’ve only been knitting since last year and my first project was socks 😂, my mum thought I was mad. You Tube and a yarn shop got me there.

Hello Spring. My journey to knitting is very similar to yours, with the added complication of being left-handed. I finally found a resource that included the search terms I needed to use to find left hand friendly tutorials. Now, I am a Mirror Continental Knitter (same style, opposite hand) and working my way up to socks.
Thanks for sharing your story with us!!! You know even being ambidextrous it’s still hard to net or crochet left-handed. I’ve tried numerous times and it’s one of those things that are difficult with a non-dominant hand, playing pool shooting a gun, drawing riding easy Peezy lemon squeezy, but knitting and crocheting not so easy isn’t it weird how things in life work that way I’m glad that you found, some tutorials to help you along the way!

This was fun! I began knitting at age 8. First thing I did was a pair of slippers for myself. I am by no means an advanced neither, but I have been knitting for many years! I would love to see a sock tutorial someday if you wouldn't mind! Socks are always so cool! Take good care!❤

I enjoyed hearing your knitting journey. I was "taught" how to cast on and the knit stich by an in law because "knitting is better than crochet" 😂. But that entailed me looking it up on yt and reporting back that i did my homework. From there, I did my own research and learned from other youtube folks and some books. She would continue to tell people she taught me when the subject came up. 🙄 i put it down for a year or so then wanted to make a pair of socks and learned even more techniques and found that its sometimes easier on my hands than crochet. Yay for yt teachers

Knit one pearl two. All I can and it’s never straight. I gave up years ago
LOL I had the hardest time but once I understood it then it was like a light switch turned on in the dark.
Of all the knitting I have done over the years socks are my least favorite.
Awe I love knitting socks and will make my thumbs hurt from making several pair back to back 😂 every time I shake my head and say “ well you did it again silly” 🤪
