I can see why they are so legendary!!!
Yeah, man, that's Spanish blues: ¡Flamenco! Songs about love, heartbreak, death, and joy. 100% heart
Absolutely!!!
Cantaor
Flamenco gets under your skin and into your bones!
As a Spaniard I love Camaron's words too. They sound traditional and very much in touch with the values and sensibilities of his people, the Gypsies of Spain. Love, friendship and above all family and respect for elders.
Ole, viva la madre que los parió.❤
This is a match of two gods. Unfortunately they are not physically among us anymore but they will live forever in all their magic music. Love your videos, I've enjoyed watching you while discovering what is part of my life soundtrack since childhood. Thanks for sharing.
The beauty of music is it outlasts the ones that make it leaving it for new generations to discover and experience and this is a perfect example of that! It is a pleasure to learn about and share such incredible artists!!!
@@TheKillogicEffect, you have amazing ears. I can’t believe how quickly you are able to assimilate all the stuff you were hearing. Very enjoyable to see you react to these two masters some of us have known all of our lives. Saludos.

As an American living in Spain for 25 years, studying flamenco guitar and doing a documentary film on flamenco it’s a lot of fun to watch your blown away reactions to what I myself discovered decades ago. I think you’re hooked. It refreshes my mind, life and passion for this music and above all the two undisputed greatest artists, Camarón and Paco!
It is some pretty incredible stuff for sure! Please keep us up to date with the progress of your documentary, would love to check it out!

I bet that was incredible!!!
you know man you Know! you sense with soul the music, congratulations!
In the flamenco universe both Camaron and Paco are the brighter stars of the last century .
not sure about ur age/generation, but there will be NO maestro Paco or unmatchable grande Camaron any more in any century, past&future, EET (Eso Es Todo).😎
Greetings!!! It was a pleasure! I have put both a Paco De Lucia playlist and Flamenco playlist together and I am looking forward to adding a lot more!!! More people should know about these legends!!!
I'm Spanish and don't like flamenco but this is an absolute masterpiece! Camarón and Paco take a bow!
Absolutely!!!
Now you´ve got a glimpse of how flamenco music goes.Guitar would be used almost exclusively to accompany the singer, adding some guitar breaks (called falsetas) between the verses to let the singer have some rest. This uptempo flamenco genre here is called Bulerías and it´s so demanding both for the singer and guitarist. In South Spain ,specially in the gypsy communities they use to play, dance and sing this music in their parties and children participate so they´re exposed to that culture from birth, that´s why it seems so natural and fluent when you hear these artists. Thanks again for showing our culture in your channel.
I could listen to this all day! It has such an awesome flow that feels like its just going with the flow or like its them making it up on the spot but being brilliantly in time and in sync. I can see why these two are so legendary. Spain has such a beautiful culture inside and out from its art to its musicians and I look forward to learning more and more about it and these legends!
Camaron and Paco started as two orthodox flamenco artists but from the mid 1970es they dared to start an evolution by adding different instrumentation and influences to this music. Some flamenco critics wouldn´t accept that back then but soon they proved they were on the right track.Anyway ,you can find many amazing singers and guitarists in flamenco music. In the 1960es and early 70es there was still a bunch of artists that hardly new how to read or write but they could give you the chills with their singing or playing@@TheKillogicEffect

I can understand why these two are so legendary and why Paco still is inspiring many generations and will continue to for many years to come!!!

Absolutely!
@@TheKillogicEffect
i wish u react to Antonio Vega "El Sitio de mi Recreo", the letter is important but only listening and its vibing af, i have grown next to Algeciras where Paco de Lucia was born and its such a honor to be andalusian once more time, kisses from between to seas
Its an amazing genre of music that I am looking forward to learning more about!
Greetings from Portugal! Paco, son of Lúcia, the best!
His two brothers, Pepe, a flamenco singer, and Ramón de Algeciras, also a very good flamenco guitar player. You should check them, also.
Yeah its beyond impressive and totally pushes the bounds of what you can do with such an instrument as this, never mind the incredible singing from Cameron.
it was a TV show hosted by Jesús Quintero, AKA El Loco de la Colina (the crazy man from the hill). He asks Paco if mediocre people abound, and he said yes. He asked him where he is from, and Paco said from Between two Waters (entre 2 aguas: his most famous piece), and also explained that his name is Paco de Lucia (Lucia's Paco) because her mother's name was Lucia. Do you remeber the first time you met Camarón de la Isla (Shrimp from the Island)? Yes, we met in Jerez, we were at different parties and ended up together very late and we started jamming and I was impressed by him, he is the icon of the new flamenco.
More or less.
They both have Duende (Goblin), which is the artists' capability to convey their art and sentiment, in this case through flamenco.
6:27 " I was in a river, I saw a little bird in an old tree trunk, he wanted to sing but was hoarse and cried with sorrow, and with my hands I gave him to drink, little water from the river with mint leaves."
Flamenco is the rawest form of art.
Spain is the motherland of the guitar.
They were a match of equals, they were a match made in heaven (Jerez).
nice program
"Entre dos aguas" se refiere a Algeciras, donde nació, que está entre el Atlántico y el Mediterráneo. Na! por si no habías caído.
Simply incredibly amazing stuff for sure!!!
you get every point in your explanation bro.. ty
They are God.
I can see it in your face. You are not understanding it but you are feeling it.. haha hug from spain

What you think of Paco Camaron is the singing equivalent , two gods in their own right.

keep this recording. It is a rare jewel since there are very very few videos of these two monsters performing together.
Please, you have to see and hear ¨Concierto de Aranjuez¨. Is Paco and a philarmonic orchestra. AMAZING¡¡¡¡ Proud of my country. SPAIN¡¡
You have a lot to be proud of! I am enjoying learning more about the music coming out of there!
Paco de lucia and tomatito were Camaron's guitars. Considered best gypsy flamenco singer ever. Camaron de la isla's name is Camaron (his nickname) and de la Isla (from the Island) refers to Isla Cristina, where he is from, southern spain, in cadiz (you can pilgrim to his grave to pay your respects if you fancy, its popular among gypsies around cadiz). Paco de Lucia means his name is paco and Lucia is the name of his mom, the way to differentiate him from other paco's in his town (Paco from lucia, literally)
Imagine that Jimmy Hendrix and James Brown would had done several records together reinventing the blues, rythm & blues, rock & roll, soul, and elevating them to another level in the process. That's what happen with this two and all the Flamenco styles and moods. They transformed all this popular spanish traditional music into something internationaly acclaimed, and allowed Paco to get into jazz festivals around the world. Camaron died quite young and sadly couldn't get to enjoy all that. Anyway, I love your reactions to this music, you're always on point with the analysis. There was another singer, called Morente, that dare a fussion of Metal Rock and progressive Flamenco that was critically praised back then. They toured the whole world with their proposal until Morente's death, and I think you should check them out if you don't know him: th-cam.com/video/DbFLm6FIDB4/w-d-xo.html Here is a 12 minute song with so much going on that you're gonna need 2 videos to explain all 😆 Keep the good work mate. Cheers
Camaron voice in the time
Now you are going into the real thing! There is a video I love where Paco de Lucia, Paco Cepero, Camaron de la Isla and Turronero.in a bar singing with no microphones, no effects. Just the real casual artists sitting in a bar and doing the real authentic flamenco.
The video is a bulerias, it's a 12/4 beat music, not the usual 4/4 or 3/4 music with it's characteristic syncopations.
The more stripped down things are the better they sound especially with this style of playing imo. I will have to check that out thank you I really appreciate it and I am really enjoying and looking forward to learning more!!!
Thank you very much I really appreciate it, I'm enjoying the journey learning about this style and genre of music!
'Zryab' piece at party is amazing.
'La parosa' piece solo is heavenly.
Si,arte puro,dos genios❤
If you put a metronome to that your metronome is wrong lol 🤣 You made laugh with that one. Also 04:33 "Abuelo, padre y tío.." Grandpa, father, uncle... from good streams come the good rivers, that line always get me for some reason... and the haircuts, it feels like summer of love all over again, there's like a hippie, 'sleeping under the stars' commune with nature feeling to flamenco or maybe it's just me. Anyways good reaction man
lol...It is a pleasure learning about such legendary icons I am looking forward to learning more. The poetry in the meaning behind a lot of this is incredible on its own never mind the amazing music its going to! I can see what you mean it also has this timeless feeling that I really love, like it could never be out of date if that makes sense....

Amazingly incredible without a doubt, the more I hear the more I want to hear and learn about it!!!

Bom tak tak bom tak tak bom tak bom tak bom tak bom tak tak bom tak tak bom tak bom tak bom tak bom...etc. the beat of agility and war/fight.
12/8 compases are magic
Dos monstruos!
Now that you've found about Camarón you may want to listen to his "La leyenda del Tiempo" (The legend of Time). First time that Flamenco Fussion was done (pretty polemic back then indeed). I totally get that you focus on Paco being a guitarrist yourself but when there's lyrics in Flamenco, voice goes before the guitar (De Lucia being "The Master" was the exception to the rule I guess but even him gives Camarón his place 😉). De la Isla was maybe considered to be even greater than Paco. Even more after his early death due to drugs. Anyways give "La leyenda del tiempo" a try. Well worth it musically speaking. It completely changed the way Flamenco was understood and approached ever after.
Btw, the accent in Camarón goes in the o. That's why we write "ó". Therefore "Lucía" has the accent on the i. Just in case it helps. I know these names are hard for English speakers 🙃
And if you don´t mind another one: Maestro Rodrigo´s Concierto de Aranjuez with Paco de Lucía (classical music). Not suited for a reaction vid due to its length but anyone should listen to it at least once in their lifetime. If you´re not touched by this, then you´re not a human being. Well that looks pretty awesome! I'm going to have to track that movie down, cant wait to watch it!
Paco de Lucia means Paco Lucias son in spanish to distiguish himself from the other kids
Ya lo dice en el vídeo. Gracias.
Very cool!
The guitar wins... Noooo! I will tell you that the "cante" (singing) was originally done "a cappella" with percussion of claps or hits on the table, the guitar later came as accompaniment. On the other hand, Camarón is considered the best flamenco "cantaor", not called a singer ("cantante"), who has ever existed. The guitar is what first catches your attention, but the "cante" is the essence of flamenco.
This was some pretty amazing stuff to say the least! I would learning more about all of the styles and how they are brought together! I really enjoyed this and I'm looking forward to learning more!!!
You are right, the cante is the essence and thats precisely why is truly much more difficult to feel it, not only for foreigners but also for us Spaniards not gipsies. The cante, claps, and the lyrics, are the soul of flamenco sound but for our ears used to 2/4 rithm its difficult, most of us need years to start understanding.
I met him on the way
what did we do brother
I invited him to come up
on my horse's back
Oh you are asking God
Oh you are asking God
that my mother died
my mother died
there is no one who loves you anymore
I'm going to love you the least.
Grandfather
grandfather
father and uncle
of the good springs
good rivers are formed
grandfather, father and uncle
Do not tell me no
nooooooo
oh don't tell me no
If your mother doesn't love me, I don't love her either.
how she wants you to love yourself if she tells me nooooo
She already heals her because your hand that already heals her heals
how do you get on that already the healthy heals how do you get on
Sitting in a river
sitting in a river
and in an old log
I saw a little bird
he wanted to sing
but he was hoarse, he cried with sadness
he cried out of sadness
and in my hand I gave him
to drink that water
of the mint river
What do I want to live if my life is an ordeal?
since I met you and you kissed me on your lips
and your lips kissed me
Bad luck for me to have bumped into you
how comfortable I was, your love is my punishment
Oh my god
that they wanted me to be a bad mother
And, oh, that little pig,
and, oh, that pig!
And, oh, that little pig,
and, oh, that pig!
