What's the point of recording acoustic snare if you are going to use trigger and another snare sound over it? For me, it's like cheating and at this point, the guy should play on electronic drums. To hear both tracks from the start makes the whole process look artificial, like an ordinary girl putting full of make up to look beautiful. How the drummer could be proud of his recording and sound when he perfectly knows how the actual take sound like before adding samples and everything else? I'm sure you are proud of your work, and should be... The drummer? Anyway, my point is, that's not what the acoustic drums is all about... And when that drummer is going to play Live, he will never sound like this, unless those samples are on a Electronic drums. Honestly, if that's the sound he likes, he really should play on edrums instead. All my drumming video are about real sound, almost flat with little EQ. I came here to learn more about mastering, so thank you for your video, but I still want that organic and real acoustic sound.
I was pretty happy with it and the client was happy. But I know what you mean about the unnatural nature. I was starting with a poor recording so had to use samples which doesn't help. It's a cover of an Alice Cooper song and the reverb was chosen to match the style of the original. It might need some adjustment once the other instruments are in place, but I didn't mix the full song myself.
Great ! Thx
Great video, really glad you had the macro section in. I was struggling to find people mixing the full kit overall
Hi Nick, I'm glad it was helpful. It is really important to mix from a macro perspective.
Killer snare sound!
Thanks. The original snare that the band got recorded didn't turn out quite punchy enough. Trigger is a life saver though.
Joe Crow - The Audio Pro you gotta do what you gotta do, lol.
@@officialWWM Absolutely!

That snare sounds horrific my dude. Way too much saturation and un-natural length on the verb. What are you doing ?!
