Well that's typical narcissist they don't want to take care of kids. Or anyone they just want what they want when they want it which is ever-changing never pleases them and they hate everyone so they are a mess and nobody should let a narcissist raise a child because they won't they just want power and control over a child they want to try somebody to obey them which children are an easy target to get to obey. my mom did that too, still criticises me whenever i eat, claiming i have to save money/ can't spend money on food - i have been underweight since soon after she got me after the divorce (10yo), even underwent years of being chronically ill bc of that and how she destroyed me. she would dismiss it all as me "being needy/complicated/a lot te deal with". when she came home from work I was not allowed to eat anymore or she would get very angry for destroying her peace in her house.. it's a shame that divorce regulations and big parts of society still favor mothers over fathers thinking every mum is a good one when some just (ab)use their children as puppets to paint a life that in reality does not exist for their own good, sad thing too that so many believe it and often times tell children who cut contact they are being bad for doing so

Besides the punishments that had a physical effect on the children, Ruby Franke laughed when her young teens told her they had no friends because of the vlogging channel. They didn't have any social life, at the most important time for social development. She took Christmas away from the two children who were rescued from Jodi's house a few years ago, with her husbands support. They were 8 and 10 years old at that time. Sent her oldest son to a wilderness camp over a prank, then made him sleep on the family room floor with a bean bag for 7 months. She took the door off the bathroom he was allowed to use! She has tortured them for years.😢

Ruby's sisters tried to step in a few years ago, when they found out she was starting to work with Jodi. That is when Ruby cut off all ties with her family. It took Sherri about a year to heal herself, and seek help. She also started to reconnect with her aunts. The whole family did try to step in, but Ruby got pulled into Jodi, and that's when things really started to go down hill for her and the family members she could control. It's sad that this has happened, but it shows how easily people are sucked into ideologies of others, and end up harming themselves and others.

Food is one of the most important things a child needs to feel secure. Many children who were deprived of food and went hungry, either deliberately or due to poverty, are still affected even into old age. It’s very common for children who suffer that way to hoard food when they do have access to it, and some even continue the pattern into old age by always having something to eat, snacks and such, in their pockets and purses. It’s very sad.

Her oldest son didn’t have a door or a bed for about 7mos & slept on a beanbag! Having a 6yo responsible for making her own lunch & if she didn’t, then she didn’t get lunch! The thing is, this is their normal. You don't realize how messed up things are until you are grown up and get out. I loved my parents very much and miss them every day since they have died but I had no clue how dysfunctional and toxic my upbringing was until I left with the man I've now been with for 11 years. Sure, I knew other families were more on the normal side but I didn't realize exactly how abnormal and sad my raising was until I got out. It really hit me when I introduced my fiance to my family and he was very scared and uncomfortable but it was my normal and the sad truth is that this is their normal. They likely didn't even expect all this to happen when he went to get help. He just wanted some food and water. He had no clue that the cops and cps would get involved because a) they failed him every time people called before but more importantly b) this was just their life in his eyes. It was his normal. Just another day. The extent of how horrifying this truly was will hit him as an adult and he'll need a lot of help when the realization hits

So she didn't tell & ran away when she was 15 or 16. Her mom & sisters, school counselors, law enforcement, etc perceive her as a wild rebellious teen. Her dad would also create situations to set her up to look like a liar. He'd hide an empty Swiss cheese wrapper in her room. When the family wanted to make Sunday brunch, no one could find the Swiss cheese & everyone denied eating it. Well, what did a house search reveal? I understand this from first hand experience. My older siblings left and moved on. They tried to look after me, but they had their own lives and we had all been brainwashed. It was hard to know what was "normal" and every child wants to think their mom knows best. My mom is a covert narcissist, constantly plays the victim and makes everyone around her want to help out feel bad for her. I had to overcome people pleasing and co dependent habits in my late 20s that attracted toxic people into my life similar to my mom. Some of my siblings still have serious mental health issues, but our family is broken because of my mom and most likely from generations before her. But Christ truly changed my life. This cycle has been broken in my line of the family. By having kids, God really opened my eyes to how unhealthy my mom is because I would never do the things she did to my own children.

We had the same mom! I pray for my younger sister. I tried to help as much as I could, offered her a room in my home but she always refused. I took her on a trip with my kids and she had this big outburst and was saying things just like our mom, that’s when I realized I just can’t save her. She’s 19 now so I’m hoping she gets away. I just can’t have all that around my own kids. I don’t even let my kids near my parents for long periods of time. I don’t want them to normalize all the toxic behaviors.

That's unfortunate. The most important relationship you will have in your lifetime is the one with your siblings. Parents should guide these relationships, not put a sibling favorite in place. It teaches love and respect among siblings. I feel your pain, and understand your reasoning completely, though.

I too grew up thinking yelling to get your way was just how everyone lived - up until I somehow saw how detrimental it was to MY kids - my son was 2, my nephew was 4, they were in the back seat giggling , goofing around and I was extremely stressed out due to just having scraped the side of my car on a fence, so not the k I ds fault but I began screaming at them to shut up, blah deblah blah blah, I couldn't seem to stop yelling when I glanced up and aaw them just staring at me with a look of fear in their eyes and tears streaming down their little faces - it stopped me cold and right then I swore I would never ever yell at them like that again - that was 44 years ago and I've (pretty much) kept my word!!! There were a few times like when they were teenagers that I got after them but they DID deserve a tongue lashing a time or two in their teens, other than that, I successfully kept my anger under control, I loved my mom very much and I know she had a highly stressful job in an era when most women stayed home after marriage and children

If child protective services/police are called or a wellfare check is called. And there is no answer on multiple occasions. There should be some type of "get back to us. In 24 or 48 hrs or a warrant will be issued."

The body language between the 'Mom' and the business partner feels like there is more there. Furthermore, her moral outage at the flash mob yet she starves and mistreats her children is laughable. I hope her children have the support that they need and that she and her 'partner' go to jail for a very long time.

Sadly, the other kids that was left with ruby didn’t get that chance but hopefully now they will.
