    Wow, this was really eye opening. Thank you for this perspective. I now realize my four attempts at quitting were actually abstaining, not quitting. You have given me hope and inspiration for my next attempt at quitting. And, I'd like to let you know I find I am Truly listening to you and letting it all sink in in a way I never have before. There is something about you that really matches my mentality in a way no one else has been able to reach. You say things that really make sense to me. Thank you.

    I have watched about 10 of your videos. I have been abstaining tobacco for about a year with niccotine lozenges with a few failures. I smoked for 60 plus years. Your videos are arming me with knowledge,and inpiring me to quit. I have some lifelong friends who still smoke and feel bad for them. Just wanted you to know how much I appreciate you. Thankyou so much!!!

    Hi, thanks to your videos I have gained more freedom from smoking than I ever have in 50 years of chain smoking by Abstaining. But I get the difference this video makes clear and struggle with the Mental dependence. What I would really appreciate from you is an exploration unpacking what this Mental dependence is made up of, particularly in terms of Oral fixation, the need to keep the mouth busy by sucking, biting, chewing etc which relates to other addictions people who get stuck at this stage of development have, such as Alcohol dependence and Compulsive Overeating. I know you could be really helpful in helping smokers understand and process the meaning which drives the behaviour.

    I abstained today, but the entire day I just wanted to smoke , super irritable not wanting to talk to people, jealous everything you said in the video... Before when I quit I realize it was super emotional but this time I’m older and I’m having a lot of changes happening all at once. I’ll keep at it, I must quit mentally emotionally and physically. But it must start with my thoughts. Thank you so much for This content is there a way I can donate?

    I relapsed to smoking for the last 6 months so I guess i abstained for 5 months of no smoking before I relapsed. I quit smoking 4 days ago cold turkey. This time i'm sure I quit smoking and not abstained. Thank you for making me understand between abstaining from and quitting smoking. Reason for my last relapse: I went to a gambling casino and was exposed for prolong hours with cigarette smokers. And because I can't stand the prolong exposure I made a mistake by asking for one cigarette because I can't stand it anymore. I was going to blame my wife for bringing me to the casino but I admit it's all my fault and mistake because I'm the one who asked for a cigarette. I will not let it ever happen again. Thank you. So this time I quit. 1-Quit. Thank you very much Nasia Davos.

    With the aid of Varcenline line, 3rd try, I stopped on 4th day. The meds made everything taste bad, and me sick. After 6 weeks still stopped, I gave up the meds. I was doing so good, although still craving...2 days ago on day ,59 I smoked standing at the stovetop exhaust. I smoked again today in the car. Only a couple a day.....I feel on the road to stopping, but being pulled back in
    I want to be done with them. I am abstaining by your definition but still really trying. This is day 60. I found this site a few weeks ago and believe you approach is what I am attempting... psychology vs me...

  • @myafaire1682

    I have run out of money so I haven't had a cigarette in a couple of days. Same thing happened at the end of last month, and I didn't smoke for 4 days. That can't be considered to be quitting or abstaining. In both cases, it was forced deprivation. Last month, I had hoped to parlay those 4 smoke-free days into a final quit, but I bought cigarettes when I got paid. I think I'm still in the decision-making stage. Do you think my circumstances lend themselves to a successful quit? I guess the fact that I asked that question gives me my answer. Thanks for the videos. They're helping me now and will help me when I am in a position to CHOOSE to quit.

  • @JIm-w1b

    Compared to what I've heard about other people, my struggle to quit smoking was relatively easy. Perhaps I'm fortunate in how I'm a sharply decisive person. When I make any decision, I stick to it, unless there's a truly good reason why I should change my mind. I've always been this way and my daughter Evette has taken after me. It's a trait of leadership like being the captain of the ship. So with to quit smoking, I decided I would smoke no more, and that was it. Rather than to forcibly deny myself of smoking, I told myself, I could have a cigarette anytime I wanted, but I didn't want one. During my quitting phase, I carried around a pack of cigarettes and my lighter. Sometimes I'd start to pull one out and even put it in my mouth and light it, but then tell myself I didn't want it. My biggest problem with quitting was the weight gain. I got fat. I gained 140 pounds

    Can someone abstain long enough until their mental craving subside

    • @CBQMethod
      @CBQMethod  3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      No, the mental addiction does not go away by itself (unless you rely on luck and coincidence which is unreliable), you have to actively change how you think about smoking.

    feels like a struggle between dark and light and i'm in the middle of it and that i have to choose 1 side

    It the same thing quitting and abstaining. You use your will power to abstain from smoking and then reinforce the decision not to smoke by thinking of all of the positives you get from not smoking. Quitting but thinking in the back of your mind that you cannot quit isn’t going to work. Bottom line is everyone is different and there is no “better” or “guarantee” method to stop smoking.
