My mother also watched it for many years. My wife and I brought her to California to be on the show. But when we got there, they were not filming. It was heartbreaking . I wrote a letter . Bob Barker sent her an autograph picture.
46 years ago I took my mom to the show, and she got to hope she would be 'called on down'...it might be my fondest memory of mom, knowing she knew every price there was back then...now she and Bob can chat about pets, and whatever else comes to mind...RIP...

In Canada, CTV was airing The Price Is Right on weekdays at 5pm while I was a teenager. Gosh! I won a lot of "prizes". I also guessed many time what prize and game was upcoming. I learned my English with the program. Many times at sleep, I dreamed of being a contestant. I have always loved Bob Barker and his beauties which were Janice, Diane and Holly at the time. Rest In Peace Good Man!
I'm disabled and was very sick as a child. I missed a lot of school. Watching Bob on the Price is Right on days when I couldn't go helped me so much! I didn't know most of this info about him. I always wished to hug Bob. I'm 35 now and watching this made me happy and also quite sorrowful at the same time. Great memories, Great man. Thank you for highlighting his incredible life.

Thankfully on Pluto there is the Bob Barker TPIR channel that will play 24 hours a day with his shows. I am just glad I got to watch him host along with all of us that got to miss school if we were sick, summer vacation at our grandparents, or not having class that day and watching TPIR.
I talked to Bob Barker once from out in the audience of The Price Is Right while ads were being filmed during a pause in the filming of the show. When the audience was told that some of us would be able to make comments or ask questions to Bob Barker during the break, I stood up. After several other people in the audience had been selected and made their remarks, Bob Barker finally pointed at me. I asked a somewhat embarrassing question about a recent magazine article that had said that he didn't have any talent. Bob Barker just said something nice about the two people that wrote the article and admitted that he couldn't sing or dance very well. He just felt good that the show had been on television for so many years. The laughter from the audience at his reply to my question led into the next part of the show when I saw it on my TV a few days later. Bob Barker was a nice guy.
My dear departed folks loved to watch him 40 years ago. By the way, during WWII he trained up as a Navy Carrier pilot flying 8 different aircraft including the Wildcat and Corsair.

He used his platform to raise awareness of the need to treat animals with respect and the need to nueter/spay your pets to control the pet population.
