“Falling out of love” isn’t such a bad thing. Unlike what the video portrays, its not the same as not wanting to be with someone. The honeymoon phase doesn’t last forever. Falling out of love is something you will go through after being settled in a relationship. It’s not a sign you should give up, but rather both work out harder. But many couples aren’t willing to do that. Some will cheat, dump you, just stop caring... Which is why it is associated with the end of a relationship.

Lemony Catapult Hum... Thank you for making such harsh judgements? I might not be the most experienced with relationships, sure. But I am in one and it’s been a few years now. I doubt I’m that clueless about this whole ordeal.
Love is a chemical reaction. Something that goes beyond our conscious mind’s control. Mostly due to a big hormone rush (dopamine, oxytocin etc..). It’s not that deep. And you probably know that. So why the need to romanticize the simplest things ? “Falling in love” as we say, is experimenting that feeling. Falling out of love its opposite. Both terms give the idea that it’s something beyond our control (because it is). You could fall in love with anyone, it’s not that hard. It has barely anything to do with the deeper idea of love as a form of commitment, which I was clearly not talking about.
I did not say that the honeymoon phase ending is due to people falling out of love. What I meant is that during the honeymoon phase, you’re less likely to experiment this lack of feelings. Which is why the early relationship stage seems so intense, and requires less of you to make it work.
If you chose to let a feeling (that by definition will definitely come and go) affect a relationship that you put your trust, time and efforts into, then maybe you’re not in a great spot to be so condescending.
Oh and we’re doing great, no need to worry.

I see my partner as a best friend, a confident, someone who brings out the best part of me and many other things that don’t involve one feeling, don’t depend solely on attraction (therefore love). Of course, I do get the butterflies and even if I did stop feeling them, I made the choice to care for my partner, to love him and stay committed. Loving is a choice, unlike falling in love.
If that’s not your thing then good for you. You do you your thing girl. If you think relationships are all about butterflies, and that apparently science is wrong, then so be it. But that you think having a different opinion is enough for you to assume things about a stranger’s life while being so passive aggressive, that speaks for itself.
Yung Mun I fully agree with you. I have seen many relationships end on this basis; the romanticized idea of love is not holding up and people genuinely feel very anxious and sometimes even terrible over this.

I hardly ever post comments on TH-cam, however my most recent ex expressed all these signs so I felt compelled. Of course at the time I was so sure she was the person I was meant to be with. It's a terrible feeling when someone claims you mean everything to them to only later have that same person slowly fall out of love with you. Literally everything in this video was spot on with us, there was even a few moments I found myself raising my voice or breaking down in front of her just to get her to realize how distant she was being towards me. And of course by the end of the relationship I was still there to support her. Although now that it's over I feel relieved and realized I was holding on to someone who obviously didn't want me anymore which opened my eyes to something major; If the person you're with really wants to be with you and be apart of your life they will do everything in their power to make sure you stay and make you feel wanted. If you stay together with someone who does anything less than this you're settling and not in a healthy relationship. The hard part is that it's not easy to see that from the start. I'm also in the same situation, he told me he wanted to break up and I agreed with him, I still love him but I'm not sure I'm still in love with him. The worst part is that he backtracked and told me he wanted to keep trying, but I don't. I'm tired.
I feel the same. I used to see forever with him. But now I see to the future and I know that it just won't work out. We are two different people. I love him, I do. This can all happen too as a result of depression they are facing. It's not always the realtionship, it's the struggles they are facing as an individual.
This is actually how my last relationship ended. I noticed the signs the last time we were together, but I wasn't entirely sure if that was the case. Turns out my hunch was right, part of me blames myself for not fighting for the relationship to continue, but a big part of me says that letting her go was the best thing to do. We're back to being close friends again, but I was pretty depressed the few months after the breakup. I did nothing but think about her, and wishing that she'd text me or call me to meet up and then ask to get back together. It obviously didn't happen, but it doesn't mean that it couldn't happen in the future. I still love her, but in the end, I'm just glad she's still a part of my life, and I'm looking forward to the next relationship I get into, whenever that may be 😊

I recently broke up with my boyfriend of 2 years. I fell out of love with him because i was the one putting all the effort into the relationship and he didn't. The relationship didn't make me happy anymore due too him demanding too much of me and expecting me too give him all my love anytime he wants no matter if i was busy or not. I felt like i deserved better than what he treated me and well i ended up breaking up with him.
Its been a month since we broke up and i found out that apparently he has a new girlfriend now. Honestly having a raw honest no holds bard conversation with your person is essential if you feel things aren't right and you're being taken for granted. We don't always see what we're doing or how we're making someone feel. I had to jackhammer it into my person's head 5 times over and over while they begged me to explain again so they could understand me and do better. When you're important to them how they handle those conversations with you is very telling.
This really helped me. I’ve been worried the last couple days that my boyfriend is losing interest, but this helped me to know that he really isn’t, it’s just my anxiety and mind being a dumbass. Thank you 😌🙏🏻

As a person who has fallen out of love with someone honestly it’s awful, it was particularly weird for me to deal with as I was always the madly in love and attached one in the relationship but I personally feel horrific that I ever put someone through this even if unintentionally, no matter what they had previously put me through. You can’t push it though, on either side of it. Sometimes you fall out of love and make it work but for me I just didn’t get my partner anymore and it wasn’t realistic to keep pushing because it was hurting us both more trying to force it to work. One thing I would say is don’t make my mistake of trying to internalise it and fix it on your own because communication is key even if it’s tricky. I hurt my ex way more by not communicating how I felt because they never understood why I was acting this way and was shocked when I split up with them despite things being off for a while. They tend to blame themselves and it can make it harder to move on. It’s so hard to talk to someone you love about something like this but it’s necessary.
How to tell your partner is falling out of love with you:
Have open and honest communication.
And, if he or she isn't willing to do that...that answers the question, too.

I fit all five descriptors, as in I'm the one falling out of love. I love my bf as a person. He's the kindest and most loving person in the world and deserves all the amazing things in life. man, this video totally is true. i used to think like "oh no what can i do to save my relationship", but the reality is im in my early 20's and ending relationships is actually a good thing, because it means you're getting closed to finding someone who will truly love you, and who you will love. effortlessly. kinda. lol still gotta work but not leave eachtoher!
I think there's a dynamic balance between smothering each other too much and too often and too little of it, whether physically or through online. The extension of the former can lead to long term burnout, whilst the extension of the latter can lead to long term disinterest/unattraction. So I think neither side of the spectrum of behaviour is exactly healthy and sustainable for relationships. It's all in moderation and respect/politeness/consideration for each others individual needs and feelings. And you have to let go of the outcome no matter what happens, whether it's lead to a break up or is seen through long term - whatever the reasons are. I know it's hard initially, but over time it's necessary for one's own growth and learning to survive and live better in the long haul. It's not the outcome that matters... it's what you LEARN about the outcome and it's processes leading up to it (so that you use that as fuel and knowledge through the learning process and analysis to improve your life, knowledge and strength to help you make better decisions across time - whether the problems lie within you or the other person, or both... but usually and commonly, it's both - because it takes two to tango in a relationship and requires individual responsibility to keep it well balanced in it's functioning)... THAT'S what matters the most.

I wish I had seen this video sooner... I recently just lost the one that I thought was perfect for me. The first person that I could see myself spending the rest of my life with. I knew they were getting distant, but I thought it was just their own problems in their life they were going through. Instead, they were falling out of love with me and eventually said they couldn't take it anymore. That I stressed them out because I always apologized for everything. If I had known sooner I probably could have talked with her and made more of an effort to change my way of always apologizing for things. Thank you for this video. I fell out of love towards my partner but I didn’t know how. Maybe because I don’t have the amount of attention needed? Maybe because I am a bad girlfriend as I can’t love him fully. I just don’t feel the same towards him anymore...I tried to cover this up to make things easier for him, but I can’t. We broke up last week.

Oh Psych2Go you always hit close to home with your vids. It hurts to see 5 things that personally hit me hard. My ex did it all and sweared that he did know that he was doing those said things. Even though I was screaming at the top of my lungs for him to acknowledge that I was there. I don’t think he understood how tired and drained i was till i stopped caring, calling, and acknowledging him.
A bit of advice when you get to the point that you feel like you can’t trust a person emotionally (with your heart) than accept that you your mind, body, and soul is telling you to stop trying to keep things afloat and prepare to move on. It took me years to acknowledge that and now I feel as if i have wasted years of my life fighting for something and someone who just wasn’t meant for me. I will always love him but I can ever be in love with him.

My boyfriend and I met in high school but did not start dating till after we both enlisted into the military. we started dating while 500 miles apart. It took over a month for us to finally meet back home. It's been 7 months now and thousands of miles between us. Due to unforeseen events we have only spent 5 days together in total. However, we are still going strong. Don't give up!
Okay. So I thought my boyfriend not boyfriend was slowly falling out of love with me. This and himself say he's not. He's honest and I'm glad. He said he won't promise he'll never stop because he can't predict the future but he promised that he would tell me if he did. He's just afraid of jumping the gun and I understand why.

My ex partner showed 4 of these 5 signs for the last 5 years of our relationship (our relationship lasted 7 years) and I ignored this signs, hoping I would be happy with him in the future. I wanted to work on our relationship, but he showed little commitment. Then he broke up with me and I felt relieved. This relief initially confused me, but then I understood it very quickly.
The last 4 I experienced when my relationship ended. I tried so hard to hold on but it only led to more pain. Some of which im still working through in therapy 6 years later.

I clicked on this because I was the one who started falling out of love with my long distance partner. I know it was gonna be hard to talk about it, but I think it wouldn't be fair for both me and him if I just pretended like everything's okay and dragged the relationship longer when in reality I don't feel the same way anymore. I ripped the band-aid off last night, communicated with him directly about it. Both of us cried, because even though I might not feel the same way I did in the beginning for him anymore, I still didn't want to hurt him. We decided that we shouldn't contact each other for now since it might disrupt the process of moving on. I kind of miss our comfortable routine from the honeymoon phase, but it's better for me not to fake anything, just for the sake of protecting his feelings.

In a relationship of three years so far and I’ve noticed the changes throughout the three years. I am trying my best to keep the relationship afloat but today I lost my shit after another argument with disrespect and name calling. It hurt to yell it’s over because how much I love the person but I made it clear I cannot continue to allow them to treat me the way they do and I continue to justify their actions because that’s how much love I have for them. But despite yet another encounter my love for them was able to hear them out and accept their apology and forgave them to work the relationship out and see if they really are sorry and will make the effort to keep relationship on fire. Yet I know time and time again I’ve said this is the last straw, but this time I know in my heart that I cannot continue this and if they revert to their bad ways? I’m completely done. I can’t take more of this abuse, even if it hurts so bad to separate someone I truly love.
I’m a true believer of putting forth effort to fix any issues in relationships and I’m a long term type. So I fight tooth and nail to make the relationship work out and last long, yet no matter how hard you try. Some people just don’t want to be with you and I rather have them say it then do all the extra bs. It’s very hard to find someone with same beliefs as you. 😓
Sadly I just kind of went through everything at a time (long distance so physical wasn't really much of a thing...).
Didn't text or talk as much. Stopped enjoying their time when they did get to see me, showed up less and less, I tried being a lot more out there, then reversed it, and it didn't make much of a difference, I let them know my schedule and I wouldn't really know theirs.
I just felt like I kept wanting to keep it going, maybe I just bored them. I dont know...
(Also happened mostly around Christmas and ended on New Years basically...)

@@sophiayamagughiI loved her until the last second of our relationship. i did everything for her. i thought she was the one for me. i was so happy. we were together for 2 years. she always said she loves me. i always talked about our future together and she said that wants that future with me. long story short due to our situation we agreed to have our V day 20 days earlier because we couldn't be together on 14 Feb. i prepared everything the gifts, candles, chocolates you name it and even an exotic flower which was impossible to bring it to where we live but i brought it and kept alive for her i thought she would be happy. i had no idea she is even thinking about breaking up. when i went to her she was acting differently she was a completely different person. and she broke up with me in the most horrible way. she didn't feel bad not even a little bit she wasn't even sad about it. i told her didn't you said you love me what about our future. she simply responded "well i guess i don't think like that anymore i don't love you" and i was so stupid that i tried to reason with her. i humiliated myself in front of her which later gave me an even more horrible feeling i cried and begged her to give us another chance and at least explain to me why she is doing this. all that time she was looking at me with a cold stare she didn't even tried to at least calm me down. well she left me and here i was totally destroyed i didn't even know who i was anymore i thought about killing myself everyday. i was broken. i don't think i ever be able to trust another girl after that.

I've realised over the last few months that my partner of 7 years has fallen out of love with me. It's a long distance relationship, but we've kept it going. I think the pandemic caused a lot of strain, as we couldn't even plan when we'd physically be together again. She doesn't have time for me any more. It's been over two weeks since we had any video conversation at all. The most we seem to communicate is "how are you?" "oh doing okay", and today she said she didn't know when she'd be able to talk to me again, only saying "I'm sorry".
I ended it today. I don't know how I feel yet. One of the exact things she said was "I am too tired to argue" not that I was arguing. If I am just an extra thing she has to worry about, another annoyance to her, because I am pestering her with annoying things like simply wanting to talk to her, if she doesn't have time for me, then she's better off focusing on her life without me anyway.
I have been feeling overwhelmed with college more often because Im in a situation where I’m required to take a certain number of units each semester/intersession. When I told him this, he just gets annoyed because I can’t express how stressed I am fully instead of telling me it’s okay to feel stressed. We used to hangout at least every weekend but now I dread being with him and I don’t know what to do.
