As someone who is also an early 2000s baby and had the joy of reading The Mortal Instruments as the series was being published I absolutely understand what you are saying! It is the exact type of peak YA era fantasy that is objectively pretty bad and yet is emotionally incredible. City of Bones(and the Mortal Instruments series as a whole) is on my list of favourite books despite only being a 3.5 for me as well. I just love the nostalgia and the world and the vibes so much. Is it cringe? yes. Is it poorly written? yes. Are the characters whiny and melodramatic? yes. Do I love it all the same? 100% yes. Have I reread the series at least once every couple of years since it was published? also yes.
Well done for finishing your summer TBR! I have one more week of summer because I'm about to go away to a Spanish island and finish my summer books on the beach and then autumn begins in September!
I’m so happy you’re reading hello stranger it was the book that got me into romance. I loved it. I also think it’s fun you watch gravity falls. I love that show and watch it with my whole family.
I LOVED FUNNY STORY 📚 Emily Henry knows how to tell a story in a non-cheesy way. This was the example of the perfect summer read done right & I cannot recommend enough. Thanks so much for sharing! 🥰 I have a personally fun question for you. Which books with scary vibes do you currently have on your fall TBR? 🍂
I am so sad you didn't like Truly Devious. I feel like the books are a little overhyped but they're still really good! The spinoff book, Box In The Woods is honestly better than the original trilogy but sadly you can't read it without reading the first three books. Also, there's a minor spoiler you need to know about Mortal Instruments to continue on with the series or else you might DNF it. It helped me not DNF it. Click read more if you want to know what it is. Clary and Jace aren't siblings.
I don't see the Funny Story comparison to PWMOV 🤷🏻♂ I really enjoyed Funny Story(4.5), but PWMOV was only a 3.25 for me I think I need to do a reread of Renegades series... This time I'll listen and see if the narration is good... I also didn't give any of the books 5 stars... I gave each book 4 stars(I did read this series over 4 years ago and this was before I rated books .25, .5, .75)
i'm sorry i know you didn't ask me but ive felt like her most recent release funny story would work well in the fall too! and book lovers as well i'm actually planning to re-read this fall!! 🥰

@@geenalillian I"m just about finished with the Renegades audiobooks and I updated my rating to 5 Stars! It's SO GOOD
OMG I'm not the only person who didn't like Truly Devious 😮
Yeahhhhh I even tried rereading it and still didn’t like it like 😭😭
I want to pick up Emily Henry but it feels like all the books are summery, so its a little too late?
