- I tried to make this tank a month ago, but I messed up with the silicone. I ended up reordering the tank and it took 3 weeks to receive it. It’s custom made. The size of the tank is exactly the same as before. It’s 5 gallons or around 19 liters. LxWxH 35x25x19cm or 14x10x7.5inches.

The clovers I used to have did pretty well, but then they got spider mites. I tried bunch of different methods, but they kept multiplying. I ended up throwing them out.
His fins have melted away quite a bit compared to before I moved. They are growing back at this point. His fins would rot, then recover, and then rot again. This went on for a while. Maybe it was my tap water, I’m not completely sure. The main reason why I wanted to make him a filtered betta tank is b/c it’s much more stable setup even if the terrestrial plants don’t do well. I’m hoping he fully recovers.

I started caring for fish after watching this channel 2 years ago. Now I have several tanks of varying sizes, an assortment of aquatic plants, 5 goldfish, a Pleco, 3 Corydoras Catfish, and a population of Ramshorn Snails that I'm breeding for the Goldfish.

I remember when we just named him too, surreal that it was so long ago.
I mean you never know. Kartofell is a wild type betta, probably not cursed with bad genetics the way most pet store bettas are. Can’t healthy bettas with good genetics potentially live 5-7 years?

At the end of the video, it says "fini" and i really hope this mean that the tank is finished, but not the final episode and we won't get to see karfoftel anymore. This channel have helped me ( and im sure a lot other people) destressing thru the last years when covid hit and made me lose my job. Keep up the great work and we hope to see more from you !!

You might also enjoy the TH-cam channel Fishman. Not the same relaxing music kind of thing, but a guy who does some pretty cool builds of tanks, filters, etc, and approaches fishkeeping with scientific attitude, trying out diffeewnt approaches.

When I was having a hard time adjusting to changes in my life in early 2019, this series brought me comfort. An earlier episode that used Clair de Lune in it was especially comforting for me, and I associate both the song and the video with the point in my life in which things started looking up. Hearing that song again in this episode, around 3 years later, made me think about how much I've grown and changed since then, similar to how much this channel has grown and changed since then too. Thank you so much for that.

Better can live to 10 years or longer....2 years is not old. I had one live to 12
@@Postmark3 the average lifespan of betta in captivity is 2 - 5 years, and alot of it has to do with genetics since captive bred betta fish has been pretty much destroyed because humans only want them to be pretty instead of healthy. so 2+ years isn't bad for a betta.

@@Aquafinity I have 3 Cherry barbs 2 harlequin Rasbora's, 3 Cory's, and 3 black Tetras. All real plants, biological filtration and several variety of snails. I call it Kitty TV.

@@Aquafinity I have kept fish in one form or another since the 60s. Learned a lot and sadly killed a lot. Now I'm old and invalid. I needed something with low maintenance. I seldom do water changes and top off when the level drops too low. Fish get fed about every 3 days. This is the first tank I have ever had this kind of success with. I can only say balance. Been set up with these fish for over a year. Lights on timer. First thing I see in the morning.
I hope Kartoffel fully recovers. Knowing this would be his final home, it feels like the inevitable is closer than we all wish. Still, it is good to see him be his feisty self, and seeing your loving care for your aquatic companions. Wishing you the best of health too!
