Customizing A Dream Bike (Only 3 Made)

- When my friends at @marin_bikes handed me this custom frame, I knew I had to build it up into something special. And to be fair...I may have gone a little overboard.
It took me months to assemble all of the right parts (titanium cranks, carbon rims, etc), but it was all worth it. This is my dream build for the Marin Inverness frame - a frame so rare that there are only three bikes in the world like this!
Big thanks to @trials-style for helping with the front wheel and filming the street riding clips! Also a big thank you to @BlindBikeTrials for building up my wheels for me!

Trials with two eyes is hardcore. Doing this blind is absolute masterclass! Very inspiring to see, that losing your sight is not the end for your passion - if your will is strong enough.

Well, it was about time! I'm glad you have the "correct" bike again. 😊 I just hope there will be lots of videos with this wonderful machine. And especially group rides and challenges with friends through the streets of the city.

just compleated my first side hop up onto a 2f tall concrete bench
using my outdated heavy "xc" bike
i did it thanks to your videos and tutorials and the fact your attitude is so positive it gives allot of us motivation
my parents keep saying not to do trials on my mtb
then i show them ali clarcson doing trials on a fat bike
and a few videos of people doing trials on roadbikes/gravel bikes
also showing them vintage trials
That's so awesome! My parents used to tell me the same thing, actually...they weren't happy when I started riding trials on an XC bike, but eventually they understood. :)

Imported deity supervillain in Grace and paid customs. Worth every penny! My only criterion for flat pedals was that not only should they have an allen key to tighten them but they also should accept a spanner. Old nukeproof petals had it but they are too small for me now.

Sick build! Those Air King tires look sweet. Been struggling to find 26" tubeless ready tires with smooth shoulders like that (no side knobs), for easier manuals.
Thanks! I had Maxxis Ikon tires on my Inspired Hex before this, I think those are tubeless capable?

That looks stunning, and loving the flashes of colour on a black and white bike.
I just wish Cane Creek had turned their mounting bolt pattern 180 degrees so the bashring lined up better! All the better to show off your chain though.
Agreed - bummer that Inspired won't sell you the Cane Creek bashring unless you buy a complete bike from them. Seems like such an easy fix to make a handful of extras? Ah well...I suppose if I manage to hit the chainring in that position, I've got much bigger problems! haha
Matt Gilman's awesome! As for my streety bike of the past, a Banshee Amp! Size Looooong! Cause I can pass the hooter to the neighbor without leaving the recliner or using an extandaroach. I've been tryna get Deity to make an 820mm version of the highside. So far, no luck.

Hey Aaron, great build! I would be very curious to test those Hayes brakes, I like my MT-7, but they are very "picky" to setup and maintain.
Maybe, you have nullified a bit the lightness of the rims + hubs combo with the (not-so-light) Conti tyres + inserts? Well, lightness is not everything, I know! ;-)
They are definitely worth a look - I've had them on my Inspired Hex (and all my mountain bikes) prior to this. I know Ali Clarkson likes them, too.
I agree with you, I may have added some weight to the wheels with those inserts, but I like to think of it as redistributing the weight. :)

Maybe I just missed hearing it, but what length cranks? The build looks great. 👍🏼 bike looks very short!
170mm on the cranks. Definitely much shorter than the 26" street trials bike I was riding (and much, much shorter than both the competition trials and 29" MTB, too)...going to take a little adjusting, for sure.
What mountain bike would you recommend to get into this sort of riding? (Frame type, wheel size, fork size, etc)

You need to rotate the bashguard so the gap is behind the crank arm.
Also noticed this. And It was painfull to watch it goes wrong😢
It's unfortunately not possible to get an aftermarket bashring that fits these cranks, you have to fit a SRAM-bolt spacing one on this way (it's a three-bolt pattern). Inspired only makes the Cane Creek integrated bashring for their limited edition complete bikes, which start at $4,000.
Also, most trials bashrings only cover 1/4 of the chainring anyway, so I'm going to save myself $4,000 - and the chainring should still be totally safe. :)
@@SuperRiderTV Could just drill some more holes in it. But that gap is not really big enough to smash the ring.
@@sapinva the gap will never touch the ground, the non driveside crank is in the way. It just looks wrong.
what length is the stem? what is the shortest stem length you’d go on a mtb that can still be used for some advanced trials skills rear wheel hops front wheel hooks ect., on technical single track-
This one is 110mm (and 35 degrees). Great question about the MTB stem, I actually use a pretty short one on my mountain bike and it seems to work fine. I used a higher rise bar for a while, which helped, too.

Surprised it weighed in at 24lbs given the wheels and cranks. Thats the same weight as a stock Fourplay build, right?
Me too, actually. I think the frame might be a little heavier - but I’m ok with it being overbuilt in a few spots, since there’s no real replacement option on this one 🤷🏻♂️

Are you certain that the deity bars are the same geo as the inspired bars? They feel different to me

Both bars are 9 degree bends with 5 degree upsweep, the only difference I'm aware of is that the Deity bars are 30mm wider.

@super rider is the sprocket on wrong, meaning it needs to be clocked another 180* so the gap in the bash guard is hiding behind the crank arm?
Sort of, the only way to get a bashring for these cranks is to buy the limited-edition Inspired complete bike (for $4000), they won’t sell it aftermarket. I asked nicely and everything! My only option was to flip the SRAM bolt pattern around. Honestly, there’s no chance I would hit the chainring in that position, so other than looking funny, there’s no issue.

What is sharpy? Is is some kind of special black pen?
Sharpy is just a brand of permanent markers that became the name for a permanent marker in some places.
Sharpie - permanent black marker, useful for covering up scratches on the black paint, too! :)
