Thank you so much Johan for having me!! This is one of the best end of year Booktube traditions! I am literally watching this on my TV and a notepad to take notes!
Thank you for inviting me to participate in this annual tradition, Johan! I enjoyed hearing about everyone else's picks. As odd as my pick might seem, it is actually one of the most impactful books I've ever read, changing the way I think of not only the past, but humanity itself. All the best for your reads in 2025!
It has really surprised me that you Philip have chosen a book by David Graeber! I was recommended: Debt: The First 5,000 Years (2011) by Graeber, but reading about economy is not that interesting to me, so I haven't made much effort to read it. But this one that you recommend here is a lot more interesting to me! Thank you Philip! Have you read any other book by David Graeber? or was this one your first?
Hey man, how did you manage 200 books?! I would imagine not only would it be difficult to read so much in a year but also to process them. Well done in picking one favourite lol!
@@mh4841 I have way too much free time that I can't really occupy with much else because it's never for large stretches, so I read! Processing them isn't an issue, I read relatively slow and just read back something if I didn't follow it initially.
It was such an honor to be a part of this video with so many great booktubers. I loved learning about so many other great reads that will definitely expand my TBR. Thanks for the opportunity Johan!
This was so fun to be a part of! So many UNIQUE recommendations 🔥 the first fifteen lives of Harry August sounds so interesting 🤔 also I really wish I got to seven year slip and the pillars of the earth in 2024 since they are on my tbr. Hopefully next year! 😆
The best thing about this video is hearing Wera say that she chose a Joe Abercrombie book as her favorite of the year. The first video I watched from her was about Cormack McCarthy, where she admitted she liked dude-bro lit. In a live stream after that she said she was a swiftie (lowercase intentional). I am fascinated with this type of unusual and contradictory deliciousness. Satire!
Some great recommendations here, my favorite this year was the stand by Stephen king, no novel has ever made me hate a character as much as the stand did.
I am so glad that I've heard a couple of times that you can read The LiveShip Traders first because I found the entire trilogy second hand in perfect condition for a good price. I want to prioritize reading what I own next year and I don't own the first trilogy.
I always love your video compilations of these various youtubers. I read so many 5 star books this year but I think The Bone Ships by R.J. Barker has to take top spot.
So glad sun eater is getting the recognition it deserves. Finished disquiet gods yesterday and it is without a doubt my favorite series of all time. And if the last book wraps up as promised it will be nuts
Fun to see so many of my own favs here like Sun Eater, GGK, Liveship, and First Law! And some ones I’m excited to get to (Blood Over Bright Haven, City of Thieves, Kindred)
I will be reading «City of Thieves» after Christmas, and both «Demon in White» & «Kingdoms of Death» are on my 2025 TBR! I have 3 books in contention for my favorite read of 2025: Since Josh/Red chose one of them, «A Brightness Long Ago» by Guy Gavriel Kay (Fantasy inspired by the Mercenary Wars of Renaissance Italy), I feel confident to pick «Imperium» by Robert Harris (Historical Fiction, book #1 in the «Cicero» Trilogy about the Eponymous Roman Statesman), with «Når landet mørknar» (Approximately «When The Land Darkens») by Tore Kvæven (Historical Fiction set during the 13th Century end of the Norse Settlement of Greenland, think of it as a Norse John Steinbeck novel, winner of the Brage Prize for Best Norwegian Novel in 2018) as a very close second! Cheers Brother!
Man, if Wind and Truth didn't come out this year, the entire God Eater would've been my favorite released this year. (Herald if I had to pick one.) It really came out of left field for me.
My favorite book is Oathbringer (I've already bought ebook Wind and Truth and starting it on Christmas) Also want to tell my favorite series of the year - Babylon 5, old but amazing (on the second place - Firefly)
200 books in a year? Hmmm thats a book in less than 2 days... is he reading children's books lol. Kindred was very impactful. I'm glad to see it mentioned.
Johan the book of inventions is the perfect book for HG Well’s The Time Machine scientist to go back for to help the Eloi civilization, that is the one I would grab! The town in the Walking Dead could have used it too! 😀
I'm not coming here for comments like this or for romantasy stories. So I'll just leave this comment to remind you and others that it is entirely within your control to just ignore the recommendations and comments. But everyone in the video has the absolute right to say what their favorite book was, even if it is romantasy or a feminist romance book. Have a nice day!
Excellent! It’s always an honor to be a part of your collab videos. Great to see the broad depth and breadth of people’s taste!!
Thank you so much for joining! I need to read Monte Cristo!
Just out of time to pick The Brothers Karamazov haha
Love The Count of Monte Cristo!

Thanks so much for inviting me back, Johan!

@@kyrosv1289 This was my first, but probably not my last!
Well, you've done it now and I've had to add it to my already overly stuffed TBR. How dare you.
@ Sorry! 😁
I love how this turned out. Thanks for having me Johan!
Man there's some super interesting picks on here, and some books that are 100% all time favorites. Awesome video, thanks again for having me on!

It was an honor to be on the channel! Thank you so much, and I hope everyone enjoys WizardKnight as much as I did :)

This was so cool!!!! Thank you!!!
I absolutely love tuning in to see all these personalities in one video!
Desmond’s Levar Burton T Shirt is a hidden gem in this video.

I contain multitudes cleaaaarly 😌 haha thank you for watching the video 💞
Bro can you pls read 'abc murders' by Agatha Christie. It has the greatest plot twist I've ever read. Thanks.
This came out great! Super job!
Thank you! Cheers!
Kingdoms of Death is mine too. That book rocked me to my core.
(Enjoyable is definitely a weird way to describe it lol)
Some great recommendations here, my favorite this year was the stand by Stephen king, no novel has ever made me hate a character as much as the stand did.
Ian Gubeli already found another favorite for this year...Brothers Karamazov by Dostoevsky
omg, City of Thieves is my absolute favorite book. I love seeing it getting some appreciation.
What a great cast of creators! My TBR for 2025 just got longer 🤓
I am so glad that I've heard a couple of times that you can read The LiveShip Traders first because I found the entire trilogy second hand in perfect condition for a good price. I want to prioritize reading what I own next year and I don't own the first trilogy.
So many channels I haven't heard of here! Thanks for the recommendations!!

Hyperion was my #1 as well and has to be my favorite book ever.
I thought best book of 2024 would be new books that released in 2024...
So glad sun eater is getting the recognition it deserves. Finished disquiet gods yesterday and it is without a doubt my favorite series of all time. And if the last book wraps up as promised it will be nuts
I also read Hyperion for the first time this year and it has became not just my favourite book of the year but of my entire reading journey so far
wow a mention for david gemmell and legend i love that definitely more people should check him out highly recommend
Yes! Gemmell's Legend was the genesis of my fantasy literature journey. What an incredible ride that book takes its readers on!
I need to read The Lions of Al-Rassan & Hyperion already!
Same

There’s some awesome recs in here! I had to jot down some notes 😂
Had my writing style compared to Kay and then now I’m hearing so much about him-will read immediately
Spaced out wizard/reads !!! Nice to see him.
Man, if Wind and Truth didn't come out this year, the entire God Eater would've been my favorite released this year. (Herald if I had to pick one.) It really came out of left field for me.
I think you got almost all my fave booktubers here.
My number one book has to be Gardens of the moon by Steven Erikson
My favorite book is Oathbringer (I've already bought ebook Wind and Truth and starting it on Christmas)
Also want to tell my favorite series of the year - Babylon 5, old but amazing (on the second place - Firefly)
Sun Eater catching fire is so nice to see. Christopher Ruocchio is the man
AHHHH! I love Jed Herne!
My favorite book of the year is Jade Legacy
Reading it now!
Nick Reads Fantasy recommending Gene Wolfe is the highlight of the video! Hahaha
A question that I throw into the ether:
Is "The Bound and the Broken" by Ryan Cahill finished yet? If not, how many books are left for it to be?
I just wish there were more non-fantasy recommendations..lol
My book of the year is Ordinary Grace by William Kent Krueger. Incredible coming of age story.
Me 🤝 Triple B
Hahaha yessss Wera💪 Lord Grimdark for the win!
I’ve read all but four 🎉
What Johan should take away from this video is..... READ THE SUN EATER SAGA
200 books in a year? Hmmm thats a book in less than 2 days... is he reading children's books lol.
Kindred was very impactful. I'm glad to see it mentioned.
If you like discovering new things and uncovering truth you should look up all the different Worlds Fairs!
so many to choose 😃
Whoa I love booktube

No Mike? 😢
Pimping a sponsored book as one of your faves of the year is super sus.
Yes Ian yes!!!!
23:33 did my man just say that he read 200 books this year??😂
