I like the price point of this. I’m interested in a Mevo Core but it is expensive, even without a lens. I have parents asking me if any platform gives THEM the ability to pick the camera view being presented versus whatever I send through Mevo Multicam
We’ll be keeping a close eye on the progress of this one! I dont know of a platform for the hobbyist streamer allowing camera view choices for the end user.
I've been searching TH-cam for this exact review since I saw this camera on Amazon a few weeks ago. This is the first review I can find, so thank you for this. I'm looking to use this with my Yolobox Pro but would rather not have to mess with a separate app to manage the Avkans Go while streaming high school basketball or soccer. Do you know if setting changes are retained, and have you tested with your Yolobox yet and if so, can the zoom be controlled without the Avkans app, i.e. via NDI?
Wondering how well the Avkans GO does in low light conditions. I livestream church services that are often only lit by candlelight, so low light competence is a must. The Mevo Starts I have just don't cut it in low light.
Avkans Go is brand new and unproven. We have no idea how product support will be. I like their PTZ cameras but this is new for territory for them. Mevo Core, although a more expensive investment, is proven. I would absolutely pick up the AGo as a second camera but not sure I would stake my streams on it just yet.
Went ahead and grabbed one of these to play with as an impulse buy. Does the presets feature in the Mevo Multicam app work with all NDI cameras or only actual PTZ cameras? I can't get this one to save the zoom presets.
@@JasonHoffmanYT Ah thank you very much! I'm new to the Multicam app and wasn't familiar with the press and hold part. Side note...I was able to get a recording to trigger from within the Avkans Go app by toggling the "Save video to SD Card" option. Definitely a weird UI choice but it did save the video to the card.
Hi Jason, great discovery. Couple of questions: do you know the horizontal field of view of the camera with no zoom applied? Also, in their website they claim it can be powered by POE, but I see has no Ethernet port. Do you know the adapter that is needed or a generic USB-C type is ok? Thx
I’ll be comparing it to the Emeet’s 90° fov and the Mevo Start’s 84° fov to see where it falls. Not listed in the documentation that i can find. I have an OBSBOT POE adapter I’ll test it with next week. Until then I dont have answers for you.
@JasonHoffmanYT they replied to me, 81° As for the POE, yes you need a USB-C adapter. I don't know if it is mandatory to use their own, or a generic one would suffice

Its nice to see an optical zoom in these cameras! Great review
Thanks Monte!
Thanks for the great video and review!!!!
Looking forward to seeing this in real uses these next few weeks. Thanks
Thanks for the review Jason. This looks very promising. Hopefully they can make improvements with the connectivity and software.
Encouraging to see how well it worked in Multicam. Zoom control even worked in Multicam.
Ok I'm getting rid of the 4 mevo cameras I have now for 4 of these!

I’ll get to run it through these tests next week.

I look forward to testing this in a lot of settings, low light included.
Thanks, Jason. I’m in the market for a 4K camera to record and stream varsity baseball via GameChanger. Would you recommend Avkans GO or Mevo Core?

@@JasonHoffmanYT Thanks, Jason. What lens would you recommend for the Mevo Core to capture an entire varsity baseball field foul pole to foul pole?
unfortunately it will depend on the depth of foul territory behind home plate. the Olympus 14-42 I have will view all our area fields except one

Presets work for me in Multicam 3.3
Just press and hold on a preset button to save a shot.

@ Very nice, thanks for sharing!
Does it required a subscription for the ndi
no, NDI is active out of the box. this usually means you’ll be sharing usage data with the creators of NDI.
Would the zoom be adequate for most over the shoulder shots for baseball from center?
No, you’ll need to get at least 10x for over the shoulder. For a high school field it would need to be even more. What age are you streaming?
@JasonHoffmanYT High School Varsity Games
@ So even with a 10x zoom you’d need a little digital zoom added to get the pitcher to be full screen.
@@JasonHoffmanYT Are you still doing consults? I've been meaning to do so for over a year now!
Yessir! Email me and we’ll get one scheduled.
Can it output 1080p 50fps/60fps via NDI, SRT, USB, HDMI ?
Right now it is 30fps by default. Will support fps adjustment in the future.
@avkans thanks I would be using them for sports at 50fps as I'm in a PAL region.
50fps, 60fps will be available this month, Nov. 2024.
@@avkans do you have any UK stockists?
So you think this can be a CF cam?
I think you’ll lose too much trying to zoom that far. 3x plus some digital will get you across the diamond but not in from outfield.
@ so the core with a long zoom would be best and routers
@@JasonHoffmanYTso these are a direct competitor to the Mevo start?
@@JasonHoffmanYTwhat’s the best platform to stream a school play which would be playing music. Also this platform be a closed stream to just parents!!
You could consider AVKANS PTZ Camera.
I got 3 mevos and a Core so I don’t need not more
@@rickgodley1018 can I see your set up. I’m purchasing a Mevo core. What lens do you use
