    Krux here.
    My longest tutorial yet, and for good reason. This synth is complicated with lots of intricacies that are good to get to grips with.
    Sorry for the background noise that gradually seeps in as time passes, that is my fan trying to keep up with Massive the Screen recorder and Audacity all firing away at once. Also, my voice seems to change partway through, which is just me moving closer to the microphone.
    Disclaimer:
    Modern talking was used solely for demonstration purposes, please refrain from using it in its unprocessed form in your productions. You would be making the world a worse place. :(
    Please Subscribe for more music and tutorials, and please visit my soundcloud account where you can get free downloads of my music! Lucky you... I hope.
    Like me on Facebook to get the latest updates, and follow me on Twitter for the more mundane ramblings that I like to put out into the world. All these links can be found below or at the top of the description.

    Regardless of age, this is one of the most easy to follow and comprehensive tutorials on Massive I've watched. Everything was covered really well, the interactions between the different functions was explained pretty clearly and you had a really good flow of your points. Thanks for making this, it was really helpful and well done.

    Dude this was an absolutely awesome tutorial. Massive is one of the more powerful synths out there but that also makes it one of the more complex. Thanks for unpacking!

    This overview should be enough preparation to read through the manual. Thanks, and great job!

    There was a few presets that make great sounds and I saw a whole lot going on to the point where I couldn't figure out what the machine is doing to the sound. There are certain sounds within the sound that I wanted to manipulate but couldn't figure out. Thanks to this tutorial, now I know where exactly I need to mess with in order to get the sound I'm looking for right. That macro is a game changer for me. Appreciate it .

    Thanks Krux, that was a really good explanation of Massive. I've been putting off learning it for years because it seemed very different to more traditional soft synths, so this was really useful!

    Hey man great tutorial. I really liked the part in the beginning where you explained the modulation oscillators in how the ring mod is like a quick tremolo and the phase mod is like a quick vibrato. THAT TREMENDOUSLY helped me. I've used them a lot of times but have never felt I'd seen the big picture of what they do until now. Also I'm really glad you showed how to use the filter bus thing to cancel out a filter on a modulator. That really helped me too. This really helped me. I watched the entire thing. Thanks :D

    • @alexander.norden
      @alexander.norden  10 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Cheers man. A lot of people overlook what the modulation osc is actually doing, but I think it helps to know this sort of thing. It's great that you watched the whole thing though, I don't think many people do. xD

  • @Kevinschart
    @Kevinschart 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Excellent explanation of Massive.
    synthesis can be intimidating but all you need to focus on initially is oscillators, filters, and amp. Once you understand how these work, start playing around with the amp envelope and the filter envelope. Throw in some LFO modulation and you're 90% of the way there. the other 10% is what pro sound designers spend their time doing. Most people should probably leave this 10% up to the pros and focus on making music.
