Not criticizing Anbernic at all for this RG353M I think it's needed and neccessary. All I'm saying is that I want to also see more 5-7 inch dual boot handhelds from Anbernic as well. The RG505 is a start. I had the RG503 but didn't like the cheap feeling plastic shell of that one, I like the shell look of the RG505 better. I don't know what kind of hard plastic was used on the Cold Gray RG353P, I prefer it over the metal shell. That's just a personal preference, I realize many other people prefer the metal over the hard plastic and vice versa. So, I get it.
They almost perfected the 351MP. RK3566 might not be still enough. They could put Mali G52 with at least 4x EE, instead of just 2x EE. Now with Bluetooth and Wifi, much better. 2GB helps for Android Distros. HDMI output is nice addition too. I love this 3.5" square format. As in the future, almost all retro hand helds will be wide screen, this seems one nice for the collection, for 16bit and older systems.
Just me, but I like the filters on GBA games. Many of them have the native colors too (saturated? bright?) trying to compensate for the non-backlit og gba screen.
I think the performance is unacceptable for this price range. Like you said, nearly any smartphone from the past 5 years can do up to Dreamcast. This should at least be running PSP w/out lag. Wake me up when we get a unit that can do Gamecube/Xbox/PS2.
Honestly i want a video where ETA talks about his life a little like what got him into TH-cam and why he focused on mainly emulation. I’m super curious cause i watch almost every video he makes and he never goes off beat of reviewing tech so I’m curious as to maybe what his favorite is tech is idc about names or anything just how he thinks a little cause i love this channel.
With devices like this that have HDMI out, how good is that? Can the device upscale well enough to make it worthwhile? I like the idea of the flexibility of a portable that can also be used at home, like a Switch with 1000s of ROMs
I've done it on my retroid pocket 2+ and it looks good on a 70 inch TV upscaled 2x but yes a more powerful device would be better. Definitely playable in my opinion for up to snes. N64 looks terrible blown up from these.
Looks great but I prefer the stacked shoulder buttons like what's on the RG353P. Yes, it's a little thicker but I like it. And with Retroid Pocket 3+ right around the corner, I'd rather get more bang for my buck.
Ugh. Can they PLEASE just make something in this exact form factor but in plastic to cut cost and weight, with a little more power? I want to run flawless Saturn, Dreamcast and GameCube in this form factor with an Anbernuc device, but I don't want it to cost as much as a Switch OLED.
Will you be doing an overview guide of all the recent handhelds? Like I am curious what ones are great for docking, great for throwing in your pocket, and great for performance (like going from retro games up to PSP as one benchmark and the other going up to GameCube/Wii/PS2 as the other benchmark). And like I am imagining if it is possible to keep things below the Switch lite price point (definitely below the Steam Deck as that is intended for different purpose)?
As someone who is planning to buy one of these I really wish the review has an actual measurement of the whole unit not just "this thing is small and it fits in your pocket" just put some ruler on that thing, I what to know if this thing will meet my pocket emulation needs. interesting video though.

@@zohaibhassan4011 A 351 has a Linux OS, and I wouldn't recommend it if you're wanting to play DC. My 351 plays roughly half of the DC library (and pretty damn well I must say). For the entire DC library though? No, I can't say 351 is made for that. It also plays PSP games (a few PSP titles like God of War don't play smooth though), but since u own a PSP I doubt that's much use to you. 351 is primarily for retro gaming at the end of the day. Great video, thank you. I have two questions: does it emulate home computers like C64, Amiga and Spectrum out of the box, without installing other emulators? And is it easy to sideload Android games on the system?
C64 is fine. Amiga so far for me has had some minor issues when forcing cycle exact emulation, but otherwise is OK too. I imagine the Speccy would be no trouble for this device.
Yeah, it's becoming an ever more important feature for me these days. After playing with 3DS and DS portables for many years I've grown accustomed to pick up and play straight away from sleep mode. I think these portables should make sleep mode more of a priority.
I agree with you! That's one of the reasons my RG353P has replaced my RG351MP. There are others who prefer the metal case editions, it's great for those gamers. So, I'm happy for them.
I want to buy but I don’t get it On the site of anbernic it proposes several versions It says 16 + 64 etc etc It corresponds to a micro SD card and the bigger it is the more games there are on it, right? And is it worth it in your opinion?
Wish these companies would take a cue from the past and make an 8-directional D-pad like the Saturn had (STILL by far the best D-pad ever made imho; it's much more comfortable to actually press ON something for diagonals rather than between the directions on the pad) and combine that with stacked triggers/shoulder buttons (make them smaller if worried about keeping the profile small; or don't bother and give it some handles for grip as well). Would also be cool to see someone look at the Saturn 3D-controller and that style of thumbstick (I remember it as good but maybe it has too little wiggle room idk?). Nice upgrade on the sticks here though it sounds like and the inner shoulderbuttons sticking up more, in lieu of stacked buttons, is a good design choice. This looks great though all things said; didn't know about it had just heard that the 353V was out. Not for me rn, playing retro I'm still very happy with the 351P in this form factor, I'm holding off for a bigger upgrade that can hopefully play SAT, GC and PS2 well.
Until these devices start playing PS2 and maybe Xbox games, I’ll pass. If these devices are still barely playing DreamCast and PSP games, and N64 is still out of the question, for most of its library of games, I just don’t see the point. The devices look great, but we’ve seen this already.
Theres just no reason for me to justify the RK3566 systems when the RP2+ exists for cheaper. I bought an RG503, but at least its 16:9 and has a pretty oled screen.
Had a 351p and the screen just felt cheap and would change colors with light pressure. Had the thing in my pocket and the screen just stopped working after a couple months. I loved the form factor and controls but the screen quality was garbage.
Nice looking machine. I'm interested in finding something similar but aimed primarily at DS / 3DS emulation. Do you know of any dual screen machines that would be worth while
I saw this being sold by anbernic on aliexpress, with 4000 games. But another seller is selling this with 40000 games, is this realistic or should I stick to buying from anbernic?
As someone brand new to the emulator world and zero experience. I’m curious, is this plug and play out of the box? I apologize if this was noted in the video.
I like how they removed the giant anbernic logo and made the bezels smaller. I don't understand the hall sticks, for what, psx? Hold the hALL sENsOR sticks and sell it to me at $100.
Might just pick one of these up and get a refund on my analogue pocket order that's been stuck in processing for 3 weeks. Analogue is a terrible company
I like the metal shell, but the form factor would be crampy and the RAM plus that screen. Definitely needs at least 4gb and a wider screen. I keep hoping someone will come up with a design that has a flip up screen attached to a proper controller where all the controls collapse into the shell when you close it.
Tbh, just buy a squared phone (I recommend a razer phone or whatever is available) and an Xbox controller and you're all set! Ps. Don't forget a clip on holder for the controller 🎮

On the site of anbernic it proposes several versions
It says 16 + 64 etc etc
It corresponds to a micro SD card and the bigger it is the more games there are on it, right?
Went from the r350 to the retropocket 2+
Please do a video on the RP3+
Finally they put black Griptapes on
What is the F button at the top for?
The spiritual successor to the GP2X WIZ.
Trying to decide between 64g and 256g
Hey ETA, big fan. Could you show us how to install games? Thanks
Is retroachievements available for NDS?
Is this preloaded with games?
Nice looking machine. I'm interested in finding something similar but aimed primarily at DS / 3DS emulation. Do you know of any dual screen machines that would be worth while
Have you seen that dual screen thing with Steam Deck? Android tablet on top playing oot 3d.
Can l play most indie beat-em ups on this hand handle. Like Fading Afternoon, Moonscars or Meifumado when released or do l need a stronger handle?
nice video. amazing mini machine
Would love this with a RK3588 instead
I like how they removed the giant anbernic logo and made the bezels smaller. I don't understand the hall sticks, for what, psx? Hold the hALL sENsOR sticks and sell it to me at $100.
Bro thanks for the $48 office
Ok, here is a REALLY silly question, but how is the Music Play back on these? I would like maybe get one of the as a BlueTooth player...
What type of controller do I use for wireless playing?
Hey ETA Prime. These Anbernic devices are not saving game progress. Do you know why or have a fix for this?
Is the battery replaceable?
Might just pick one of these up and get a refund on my analogue pocket order that's been stuck in processing for 3 weeks. Analogue is a terrible company
dude why cant they make a good handheld that works well with psp? the tech is there, and Im sure many would pay extra for a better arm chip
Have you ever checked out the Miyoo mini?
How well does Skyline or Vita3k run on this device compared to RP3+ ?
how about native android games?
I'd actually prefer a plastic version.
i think i like this one
I like the metal shell, but the form factor would be crampy and the RAM plus that screen. Definitely needs at least 4gb and a wider screen. I keep hoping someone will come up with a design that has a flip up screen attached to a proper controller where all the controls collapse into the shell when you close it.
It's made for systems that ran 4:3. . Anything else is pointless
i really want something to come up like the psp go but with two analogs
Tbh, just buy a squared phone (I recommend a razer phone or whatever is available) and an Xbox controller and you're all set!
Ps. Don't forget a clip on holder for the controller 🎮
@@ultra_cosmic you mean the Vita?
@@fillerbunnyninjashark271 You didn't read the entirety of what I wrote and your pointless response proves it.
Greetings. Two questions please. Are this metal consoles immune to rust? Do they get hot when you play them for a while?
The metal shell is eloxated aluminium. So yes, it is non-corrosive but also gets warm over time as metal is by nature very heat conductive.
@@dorbei Thanks. This is the only time someone has answered this. And nobody ever mentions anything about that in any video. I had to ask since I live in a very hot and humid place. Cheers! P.S. I think it safe now to assume all metal handhelds are inmune to rust...
Is that running on stock firmware?
Nice device, but ultimately another year of emulation stopping at PSP.
@ETA PRIME can you review this device on android? Maybe running play store apps, I’m curious if it could work as a regular android handheld as well due to its small form factor
Companies like ayaneo and onexplayer have ruined anbernic for me, i used to love anbernic, but for quick, on the go emulation, my Odin has taken over!
All of their handhelds are great looking BUT until they make one that can emulate Gamecube then I just can't see buying yet another handheld.
