Wow, I randomly clicked on this expecting a little interview with Jamie Lee Curtis about her film career. Then realised it was a feature length, passionate and honest declaration of who she is. Life changing.
One of the best half-dozen Chat Shows, Chat Show. Everyone who ever thinks "I want to be an actor" should be required to watch this conversation. I didn't think I could admire Ms.Curtis more: I was wrong. She is the best friend everyone wants. Thanks as always Kevin.
Once you have seen Kevin Pollak do an interview, it's really hard to watch a late night talk show interview. They just don't have the depth, or the wealth of an interview that Kevin does. I've always liked Jamie Lee, but she is just such a warm and fascinating person. I love this interview. I love the format, and I love Kevin Pollak chat show.
What's really amazing is how many incredible stories there are if you add up everything in all these interviews.. sometimes it's stuff you couldn't find in any other interview, biography, etc.. it's amazing to know you are listening to the only time something has likely ever been publicly told..
I love those long format interviews. I knew about Jamie Lee Curtis, more for her fame and ancestry than anything else. Now I admire her for being a smart, funny and fascinating individual. Thank you KPCS.
Amen. That was simply exhausting. I don't think I've ever listened to an interview of someone so marginally interesting who is so obviously fascinated by her own manic thoughts. No wonder she and Guest have to live separate lives under the same roof.
As an actor, Jamie has gone through it all. Made a name and place for herself and learned the real ins and outs of the business. Hearing such honesty and truth in her interview made me proud to be an actress. I'll keep going! Now time to watch A Fish Called Wanda.
What a woman. And could you believe this human being ever felt that she was not good enough? It's so sad. I wish I could give her a great big bear hug. And I'd like to give one to Kevin, Samm and Jamie Fox as well for a wonderful show. All the best from rural Norway.
One of the best guests Kevin has hosted. Her question from her Parliament story, "Is there a gift shop?", was worth the entire show. Bring Jamie back and let her talk about whatever she likes again.
The amount of time I wasted thinking I wasn't better than anyone. I'd give anything to get that time back. I totally feel you Jamie. It's something that we can never get back, but until my dying breath I impress upon any young person to be themselves, that they have immense worth and much to say.
An amazing, beautiful and inspiring conversation! Wow! Most incredible interview that I’ve seen on this show yet! I only hope that y’all are still doing this in 2024. Cudos to Kevin and crew for consistently putting out these sensitive and personal conversations with amazing people. Fantastic work 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Thank you so much for making this happen. After I first understood the amount of auditioning and rejections that actors go through, I still find it incredible that anyone would go through all that. But I enjoy their performances, and so glad that they do it.
True Lies is one of my all time favorite movies. I saw it while on a business trip. The next day, I told everyone at the facility about it, and a group of us went the following night. When I returned, I told my husband and all of my coworkers and we all saw it that weekend. Tom Arnold was excellent in it, and that little black dress Jamie wore was fabulous. I still remember her coming on the Letterman show wearing that dress.
I love Jamie Lee Curtis, and have loved her for a long time. She is talented, smart, funny, honest, real, flawed, and so willing to put herself out there for the whole world to see. She's so unlike many of the hollywood type people of yesterday and today in that she doesn't take herself so seriously. There is no doubt in my mind that she has helped numerous people shed their substance addictions, and saved lives in the process. It takes a lot of soul searching and being honest with yourself to the point where you realize you have a problem, and need help from others, many of whom are strangers, in order to survive. To many, dying is a lot easier. Bravery and courage are not things we see a lot of these days, but Jamie has them in spades, and she's not afraid to rattle some cages. We all, not just those who are addicted, can learn from her example. You go girl...Be the change.
Jamie, thank you so much for this!!! You have so much more to offer than your acting. In the best meant way possible. Not just what you CAN DO, which is amazing and wonderful. But who YOU ARE. All the best to you and your family.
I justed LOVED Kevin & Jamie in HOUSE ARREST! Such a funny movie for the family with a great cast from the adult actors to the kid(well young actors). Nice to see these to have a candid chat with them knowing each other for over 20 years now, this interview didn't seen lengthy at all! J&K are phenomenal actors.
One of the best parts of KPCS is that we have the time to really get to know a little more about the subject. During the standard late night talk show interview program, we will have 3 minutes, with two minutes of that being schtick. This really goes in depth, I find it incredibly interesting. Jamie is gold.
It is 8 years since this ran, but I wanted to make a comment because this was such a thoroughly enjoyable interview. It wasn't Jamie's line, but my favourite line of all time was from A Fish Called Wanda, , "I apologise reservedly".
I also saw John Malkcovich in "Burn This". Yup, pretty memorable. 😊 Jamie Lee Curtis is such a badass, and I adore her. Her vulnerability, her opinions, her humor, her anger...all of it. She just rocks.
We are creators.Mankind are creators.I am watching this in 2023.She has been vilified by HOLLYWOOD as evil.No.She is,her job is to wake you up to what has been going on since...forever!Thankyou,Jamie.😎🇺🇸👊We that see we thankyou, darlin.
Holy shit!!! Friend of bill?? I went 13 years without a drop...I recently started again .. and now I have to move out and the relationship is over.. but I’m OK!!! I am older now... and the pain is different when I was younger... but I constantly think about changing it up again.. love ya Mrs. Guest... 😘
Mr. Pollak has conducted some of the most epic entertainment interviews ever and this is one of them. My only complaint (not really) is that it ended too soon despite its two hours. I would have loved to have heard about Trading Places and A Fish Called Wanda.
"The stars fell on Alabama" - I was so taken with that phrase that I looked it up, and discovered a great song (Billie Holiday version is best but Patti Page's is highly recommended also).
+SgtTravisBickle I know Chris and his twin Nicholas are both a bit quiet....I worked with Nicholas on (producer Shelley Duvall) "Nightmare Classics: The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde" (1989) He seemed like a nice guy. Although I am not yet Union, I too would and do turn down any night productions.
+keri caye I had no idea he has a twin! The thing is that Chris is a genius and would love to know more about his process for getting into, and becoming, his characters.
I feel like i know a tiny smidgen more about Mrs. Guest now. About millionth of 1% of the over all person. No matter what you think of Pollak, Mrs. Guest opened up to him as I am sure she rarely does for a "normal" interviewer. And Pollak is about as abnormal of an interviewer as you can get. I mean that is a good way MR. Pollak. Good job.
My Dad was in the Navy with her Dad back in the day, always admired her candor and talent such a genuinely funny person..... BTW Halloween was the first horror movie I saw in the movie theater when it first came out that my older sister and her friend took me too back in the day I was 9 or ten years old that I had to have adult 18-year-olds accompany me to.....
Wow. Jamie, the universe caused a cataclysmic event so you could have the role of your career!! Amazing. You are more than a movie actor, daughter of famous movie actors, you have been a role model for so many young women. I believe it's because; not only because your uniquely beautiful in your own right, acting ability is believable and real, but you relate to every woman, how real can you get??!!
I knew you looked familiar, you played that unforgettable attorney in a few good men!!!!! You were so great. I don't think that Tom Cruise would have pulled it off so well without you, and of course, Demi Moore. You are awesome and now you have a podcast full of interesting guests. Thank you
Honestly, I think Kevin's performance was the best of the three. He was more grounded and did less "acting" and more just being in the moment, if that makes sense.
Check this out KP,I came home on my golden 13th birthday in 1983,are you ready? To a manilla envelope, inside was an autographed pic of Jamie Lee Curtis.I still have it today, framed.I can say thankyou to Jamie for the best golden birthday ever!😘Please let her know,KP.
Isn't this great...a LONG chat with Jamie...on any other show, we would have gotten 10 minutes with Jamie and 80 with the host............well done Kevin...
You,me,soon to be,everyone will be connected.I can't wait!I've always been connected to that snap, snap, hearing that voice to where I whipped around to find nobody,ok?😎Flow, let it flow as Jamie says. The end
What a complete opposite to her husband when interviewed!. I met her briefly in Sun Valley in the 80s, and she was so gracious and warm and open, just like here. And her husband Christopher Guest was an uncomfortable cold fish, just like his KPCS interview.
I feel bad saying this but, I have a friend who works as a chef on film sets. I told him how excited I was for the new Halloween movie. He immediately said Jamie Lee Curtis was terrible to work with, she made her assistant cry in front of everybody, I couldn't believe it cause she always appeared so humble. He's an honest man so I know it's probably unfortunately true, how you treat others says so much about you, how sad.
Why say it? It is unverified, as your friend may only seem to be honest. I doubt this story very seriously. No one else has such statements to make. Why believe it? It is much more likely your friend was playing some kind of sad game.
Love KPCS ! Love Kevin's well-informed and in-depth conversational approach; and have found many guests exceptionally interesting, insightful, and inspiring. Sadly, JLC was not one of those, to me.
She seems to have pigeonholed herself as "Halloween-Movie Girl" and "Scream Queen." I stopped thinking of her as that back in the mid-to-late-eighties, after Trading Places and A Fish Called Wanda. Of course, since then, so many great roles. She occasionally returns to the Halloween well, to show her appreciation, but she is so much more than Laurie Strode.
Curtis has no idea that most of us men, regardless of color, desire her over any "blonde", from the 70's to now. In fact, caucasians need to really trash this fascination with "blonde" girls. The most beautiful women on earth tend to have dark features.
21:00 I remember Bertrand Russell, the great philosopher, always said that if you want to keep your beliefs healthy you *always* have to listen to the *best* arguments of "the other side" _without judgement_ when re-formulating your own beliefs in things, and *never stop* doing that - otherwise your deepest held principles just become (over time) an empty finger-wagging mentality. (and who listens to that shit?)
Honestly I know most freelancers that work long and harder than people who get paid by the book. Creating and brand and identity and making a business out of it is far harder than a 16 hour actors job. I'll just assume Jamie Lee is set in life and is comfortable that's why she can speak this way. It amuses me how some people speak a certain way when they are comfortable at a point in their lives versus things not going their way and they need to fight to survive. I'll assume Jamie Lee has never been a freelancer before, but if she has, clearly she has forgotten where she came from, or at least situation that truly tested her metal being a freelancer.
I've always thought she was shortchanged because of her figure. It can't be easy for women actors to figure out what roles that require nudity or cheesecake, are OK to take, and which ones will typecast them.

Wow, I randomly clicked on this expecting a little interview with Jamie Lee Curtis about her film career. Then realised it was a feature length, passionate and honest declaration of who she is. Life changing.
Yes, I did the same. It was revelatory.
Just love Jamie. For such an iconic actor she still is so genuine and not affected. Love her horror and 80s movies the best!

A wonderful, deep, personal interview of a smart & brilliant person, who happens to be famous. Thanx.
blarson12 that's what's she said. .
Amen. That was simply exhausting. I don't think I've ever listened to an interview of someone so marginally interesting who is so obviously fascinated by her own manic thoughts. No wonder she and Guest have to live separate lives under the same roof.

Beautiful..... I could listen/watch her talk all day.
Is she gearing up for a lead role in a Tim Cook biopic?
Crap. I should've said that. I LOVE YOU, JAMIE LEE CURTIS!
She smashed this interview out of the park. Totally talented and grounded
When she speaks about never feeling good enough, she broke my heart. I just adore this woman.
One of the best guests Kevin has hosted.
Her question from her Parliament story, "Is there a gift shop?", was worth the entire show.
Bring Jamie back and let her talk about whatever she likes again.

PS; I can’t wait to see if the House of Lords g-string is offered online!
"You know what your problem with me is? When you look at me, you don't see you." I love that
Thank you so much for making this happen. After I first understood the amount of auditioning and rejections that actors go through, I still find it incredible that anyone would go through all that. But I enjoy their performances, and so glad that they do it.
You Jamie should get a life award for this interview, on being ALL YOU.... love

Jamie is gold.
This was an EXCELLENT interview !
Jamie is my spirit animal. Love her realmess and hearing how she has navigated her life. I've learnt from her struggles and triumphs.❤
This is an interview I have looked forward to for a while. Cool.
It is 8 years since this ran, but I wanted to make a comment because this was such a thoroughly enjoyable interview. It wasn't Jamie's line, but my favourite line of all time was from A Fish Called Wanda, , "I apologise reservedly".
Didn't think anyone could top the Tom Hanks show, but Jamie might have just done that. Gold.
I still think Tom Hanks was better (she talks too much)
They would make a good couple in a movie.
I also saw John Malkcovich in "Burn This".
Yup, pretty memorable. 😊
Jamie Lee Curtis is such a badass, and I adore her. Her vulnerability, her opinions, her humor, her anger...all of it. She just rocks.

She's just delightful, thank you Kevin.
Nice! What a smart, insightful and down-to-earth person she is.
Oscar award winning Jamie Lee Curtis! 🏆

Kevin and his guests, always so entertaining........he's magnificent....................................and cute...
I wanna hear more Colombo stories from Jamie if she returns. Her scene as a waitress is great. Donuts!
Superb interview - enlightening, funny and moving.
❤ Jamie, she tells you like it is, very talented!
60 seconds in and i'm laughing.. brilliant!
Can she come back and do an hour just on Christopher Guest? We'd probably learn more about him that way since he barely said anything when he was on.
+SgtTravisBickle I have no idea what you're talking about, he went through his entire life basically.
+SgtTravisBickle I know Chris and his twin Nicholas are both a bit quiet....I worked with Nicholas on (producer Shelley Duvall) "Nightmare Classics: The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde" (1989) He seemed like a nice guy. great interview
Jamie is beautiful. Classy and sophisticated.
I really enjoyed the interview. Jamie Lee Curtis's voice made my head hurt after a while. Interesting lady though.

In costume for Dorothy Stratton.Jamie's hair was longer, probably a wig,but...yeah😎
That was HILARIOUS!
They was in house arrest together. That movie was cute.
When Jamie goes into how ideas calcify I know that she would be a very safe person to work with.
shes still looking good at 58! DAMN!
I love this actor! lot of wisdom in this person.
I love how she met her husband.
I remember Operation Petticoat, I watched it & then everybody was different, lol
Isn't this great...a LONG chat with Jamie...on any other show, we would have gotten 10 minutes with Jamie and 80 with the host............well done Kevin...
This is just the best!
Yup. I had the same issue working on New Girl and I was just background. They asked me back twice, I turned them down the third time.
What could be Jamie's other gift to Kevin, and why he couldn't show it ????
How can I tell the dates when these shows aired they’re part of history and need that context
KPCS is superb. Closer to the letterman than anyone else.
She morphed into the stereotype of a Vogue Magazine editor.
Great stuff!
You,me,soon to be,everyone will be connected.I can't wait!I've always been connected to that snap, snap, hearing that voice to where I whipped around to find nobody,ok?😎Flow, let it flow as Jamie says. The end
If Carpenter wasn't married to Barbeau at the time they were making THE FOG, Curtis would have been given the lead in that film.
What a complete opposite to her husband when interviewed!. I met her briefly in Sun Valley in the 80s, and she was so gracious and warm and open, just like here. And her husband Christopher Guest was an uncomfortable cold fish, just like his KPCS interview.
She was brilliant in the movie True Lies with Arnold Schwarzenegger.

JAMIE LEE AND RICHARD WERE 💙 ❤️ GREAT TOGETHER! VERY 😁 😂 😀 FUNNY!
one of the hottest actresses ever!!!!!!!!!
Jamie Lee Curtis is so above my pay grade in intelligence I'm simply gobsmacked by her!
Great show love Jamie
That Jesus joke right out of the gate. Holy hell 😆
Annabelle’s in her movie Halloween😂❤
GREAT Interview. For those calling this "the best" , look up Clint Howard. Surprisingly interesting and funny!
Curtis has no idea that most of us men, regardless of color, desire her over any "blonde", from the 70's to now. In fact, caucasians need to really trash this fascination with "blonde" girls. The most beautiful women on earth tend to have dark features.
You aktor super BJUTIFUL thenkju💜🏊♀️💜🏊♀️💜🏊♀️💜🏊♀️💜
Besides the Halloween movies, she was awesome in A fish called Wanda & True Lies.
1:06:44 real emotion re social cf
She was great in the movie she did with Kristen Bell

Why do you think Helen Reddy sold all of her Hollywood memorabilia???She knew what the public did not, back then, but do now.😎🇺🇸
I've always thought she was shortchanged because of her figure. It can't be easy for women actors to figure out what roles that require nudity or cheesecake, are OK to take, and which ones will typecast them.
LOVE IT.
Wow Jamie Lee Curtis got $40,000 for Prom Night & $50,000 for Terror Train in 1979 , a lot of money back then
Brendan Bakos it’s a lot of money now
She was the lead in both...so while it’s a bit of money back then, not so much for a lead role.
Died at the house of lords story..
