He reminds of Rasheed Wallace when he was a freshman. Not overly quick but had burst and covered groubd with his stride. Very good defender, chippy, good offensively in clumps.
@timboslice8559 that's an interesting one too, maybe more comparable in the sense he could shoot. I think the only difference with Wallace was his shooting and ball handling but in the 90s, early 2k, he wasn't asked to play that way. If he was a prospect now he would probably handle and shoot much better.
I can't really think of a clear NBA comp. My 1st thought was a cross between AD and Knecht. There isn't an obvious one for him like other young guys; Luka-Bird, Ant-MJ, etc
Lebron/kirilenko right in between both of you less athletic Lebron but still athletic ass hell but more defense I’ve oriented like Ak-47 similar size to lebron just not as muscular yet ak 47 was a point forward on Utah in his prime better passer than people remember. I’d say he has better for on his jumper than both though. I’d say some Larry bird in there also he’s the first white “American born”wing player that you look at and say this guy can be a top 3-5 player in the league someday ain’t been one like that since bird. Glad to see it bird was a all around player and was way better at defense than many remember he was even a solid shot blocker and always racked up steals and was a dominant rebounder also did a lot of work from the midrange in and played tough around the rim. People just think of him as a dead eye shooter but he was the best all around player in the nba and was just as good of a passer as magic but he was geared more towards scoring and didn’t hold the ball that long. Best off ball/half court play maker I’ve ever seen better passer then lebron cause bird ain’t have to dribble around and look for the assists he just found them wasn’t getting these cheap assists off dribble hand offs and finding wide open 3 point shooters.
@@MatthewKochel See some similarity there. Prob say Cooper has a little more offensive upside. He can create off the dribble better. Rasheed Id say was stronger, but Flagg is only 17. Gotta give him a few yrs. I like him a lot, but he's not gonna be Wemby either.
He exudes competitive motor and has the athleticism and skill set to give him that next level swag. My first inclination has been, he's like Kobe (competitive hunger)+ AD (defensive prowess, size)
@@timboslice8559 defense is the only thing and athleticism but outside of that I would say ball skill and IQ goes to Demin. Both have a lot of upside tho so it’s debatable
I just cannot the generational talent here..He will be a good player in the league with his size and shooting/mechanics...but I just cannot see the generational part here
youre not paying attention. he doesnt waste any movement. relentless on D, smooth jumper and high iq. Goes to the basket like a banshee and will do anything for a rebound. keep in mind he is 17 and playing with top recruits on his team. His ceiling is sky high
Dude averaging 30/7/5 on 63% TS in the NBA against NBA talent verses a guy beating up on Army? Cooper is barely 53% TS against bums. To compare, Zion at Duke averaged 70% TS.

I like the comparison
Rashard Lewis remember him. He was a big SF almost exact frame too

More skilled garnett
@@cmankman123 I don't know that he's more skilled than Garnett, when Garnett was young and explosive, he was pretty damn skilled
Holy crap we are born on the same exact day and year!
I did research on my birthday and found this guy lol!
Only 17. Crazy
Gonna be on his second nba contract by 23. NBA really should push eligibility back. These new salary cap rules are ruining the game.
This is the top recruit???

Can't shoot at the level that Knecht can

Yeah? Do you see the size of the guys playing for Army? And you're comparing Cooper Flagg to Kobe? Ludicrous.
if you think A person of Coop's size is comparable to kobe🤢? ...you need help.

This dude is going to be NASTY.
He’s pretty much Andrei Kirilenko with better offensive upside. Or Rashard Lewis for a non white comp
Egor demin is better
Agreed
Better playmaker and passer sure, but everything else Flagg dominates him

@aarondavis1284 nothing you have described there indicates "Generational talent" nothing..
You’re either blind or a hater
barely as good as Ausar Thompson
This dude should be on Team USA in Paris instead of that scrub Jayson Tatum.
The champion Jayson Tatum you mean?
