Prior to finding your channel and listening to Peter's wisdom, I drank Wine maybe once a year on either Thanksgiving or Christmas, it just happened to be whatever my family was enjoying at the time(I have a lot of Riesling drinkers in my family, being in upstate NY near the Finger Lakes). I had never drank an entire glass of red wine in my life prior to discovering this channel. I always just drank spirits or beer. It's been quite the change for me. Bravo. I've gone through and watched so much of your back catalogue of videos here(as you can see by me commenting on a vid from 2020). Best wine related content on youtube, in my humble opinion.

But then I found this channel and started watching some of the videos and began picking up some of their recommendations. I wouldn't say I am a wine drinker now but I definitely have found some wines that I enjoy drinking.

You can find some knowledgeable people in some of them, of course not at your level, for example in my store some of us hold some certifications, like Advanced Sommeliers, CSW, WSET . So you can relay in some of us! Love the channel !

I went to Total Wine yesterday. I was putting together a tasting and wanted to include some Eden Valley Riesling. They didn't have a single bottle, and the sales person tried to tell me that they didn't really produce much riesling in the Eden Valley. Thats total wine for you. They had about 200 bottles of Meiomi Pinot though haha.
Taste it, if it’s rubbish it’s rubbish. Don’t let ego prevent you from telling the seller so, if you bought on recommendation, that is. Like wise if you enjoy the wine, tell them so. Why not? This man talks some good sense. Value for money is all we want. Thank you for this informative video.

Total wine is big store and my impression was that people who work there unfortunately didn't know much about wines, they strike me as just workers in general store, with to much stock to know it. Maybe they recommend the best selers as well wich can be total disaster,seen that the Beringer White Zinfandel is the best seler for example.
I've never been impressed with their recommendations. I told the salesman what I liked and he pointed to a single label and said I would LOVE that one. I didn't.
Hey guys ! Great video ! Though as a Frenchman I’d like to say that sometimes, the appellation “vin de France” actually has great wines. Some producers are in conflict with their AOP, or just want to plant an old varietal that is not authorized, or wanna conduct their vineyard in a manner that is not permitted within the AOP or whatever. So there is actually a ton of great wine under the appellation vin de France, don’t judge a wine just by that ! But I mean I trust you this particular one wasn’t good :)
You are absolutely right on that. imho it is often those winemakers who do not want to comply to all the appellation regulation that make the most interesting wine.
When I go into Total Wine with my wife, she always asks for recommendation from the staff. This drives me crazy, and I usually just walk away. They will always recommend something that is selling poorly. You're better off to pick the wine by how much you like the label.
We need more content like yours with fun approach to the wine for people to get interested in wine, I myself got more interested in it because of you guys, thanks for the content and I hope you inspire many other people to make similar content.
Total Wine makes the majority of their money from the yellow tagged Winery Direct bottles. All the recommendations are placed on bottles that they have a large stock of. Also, the Unanime and 1858 Cabernets are great for the value.
Peter was bang on the money with Unanime, truly an excellent bordeaux blend wine from Argentina at an incredible price. Silky smooth with hints of chocolate and the oak is very well integrated, it's absolutely worth the money.
I really enjoy Peter reading (most of) them to FILTH!!!!! As a preface, I work in a long term care facility and we recently got covid. I've had a lot of down time and have watched many of your videos. And thanks to you three FINE gentlemen I have a list of about 10 wines I'm SUUPER excited to try!! P.s on a side note.. Thank you thank you thank you for putting captions in English for when you are speaking Korean!!! I'm just a simple American who isn't able to speak anything but English yet!
I Absolutely agree with the weedy comment. I once drank at a friends house. That friend doesn't know anything about wine and it was a cheap wine. It was horrible and absolutely not to my taste. What makes a wine get that taste???

funny story. I got brought into head office for telling a customer that a wine which was called "Carta Roja" was not a Rioja and was borderline undrinkable. It was a disgusting ripe mess from le mancha.
Just learning that i can tell a better wine by there being more description about the location it was made has my my wine drinking as an amateur so much better!!

No doubt they'd give you terrible lower priced wines and great higher priced wines so that you conclude you MUST spend the 30 to get a moderately decent bottle. There are plenty of 10-20 wines that are competitively tasteful.
Very interesting session guys, really love it. From my experience and this video clearly said it is the wine journey is not only about finding the right wine for you but it is equally important to know what wine you don’t want to go near to :)

I would never go for recommendations of a common beverage retailer staff such as Wine&More or BevMo. They are salespeople, not sommeliers. The same goes for restaurant waiters.

people ask why I think total wine and more and other stores like that are terrible for beginners this is why. First step to loving wine find a good small wine shop.

Not surprising. It's virtually impossible to make a quality Pinot Noir for less than $35 or $40 bucks.

@@zota1704장난식으로 하라는게 아니었구요. 피터의 능력을 평가하라는게 아니라, 지금 거의 피터가 먼저 평가를 한 후에 와인킹이 동의하는 식으로 평가가 진행되는데, 이 역순이라면 피터가 제자인 와인킹의 평가에 어떻게 더 첨언하거나 동의 혹은, 평가에 대한 이견이 생기는지 객관적인 두 분의 능력차가 궁금하다는 의견이었습니다. 이 경우 피터의 능력은 완전하게 검증된 경우지만, 와인킹의 경우 본인 능력에 대한 불확실함으로 영상을 찍기 부담스러울 수 있다는 생각은 드네요. 아무튼 두 분의 능력차, 과연 같은 와인을 두고 얼마나 같은 평가를 할지 궁금합니다.

This is why I never accept the 'help' offered by the alcohol store staff.
No doubt they'd give you terrible lower priced wines and great higher priced wines so that you conclude you MUST spend the 30 to get a moderately decent bottle. There are plenty of 10-20 wines that are competitively tasteful.

아 너무좋아요 와인에대한 정보도 주시는것도좋지만, 피터와 킹의 관계도 너무보기좋아요. 피터는 성격이 꼿꼿한 꼰대할배로 보이면서도, 킹의 넉살과 웃음때문에 오히려 그것이 친분과 장난, 연장자의 배려와 애정처럼 느껴지네요. 감사해요 따뜻한 관계를 보여주셔서ㅎㅎ
I would never go for recommendations of a common beverage retailer staff such as Wine&More or BevMo. They are salespeople, not sommeliers. The same goes for restaurant waiters.

와알못으로 처음엔 병이나 로고 디자인으로 골랐고 ㅋ 나중엔 스페니쉬나 포르투기 와인 2년정도 묶은거로 골랐는데 ㅋ 재밌네요 더 많이 배우고 싶은 마음이 들어요 ~~
