I just rewatched this because I'm getting closer to actually being able to sell/ship my candles out but the shipping is overwhelming! Many of my friends and family live across the US and it crushes me to think they would have to pay more than 10 dollars just for shipping. My question is: Do you have to be able to print your labels at home for "pirate shipping?" and Do you find it cheaper to print your labels at home? Last question is, could I walk into my local USPS and just tell them I want to ship cubic priority? It seems too good to be true! Thanks so much for your help! Yes you have to print your shipping labels from home if you want to use pirate ship. It’s so much cheaper than walking into the post office to pay (they won’t have priority cubic as an option, this is a special feature that only pirate ship offers) Also look into padded flat rate envelopes! If your candles are small enough to fit inside a box, you can put that box inside a padded flat rate and ship it for $7.75 anywhere in the US! ✨💕

Hi Yvette! Hmmm I’m actually not sure about this because I do free shipping on all of my orders! Do you have the dimensions of the box/weight of the box preset on your listings?
3:45 just want to point something out I don’t have access to a laptop or printer so when I had to take my huddle mailers (and was selling face masks and Scrunchies at this time) to send out, the worker actually only changed me $1 when shipping was estimated at $4.50. Not all workers will rip you off, they go off of your items weight and where it’s going most of the time.

I learned a long time ago in my business of selling branded fish food. Sell lower ounces, so shipping is less. So a 4-ounce candle is much cheaper to ship than an 8-ounce candle. My 2 cents :)

WOW! This is absolutely the most useful video that I have ever watched on youtube!! Hands down!! I spent an entire day trying to figure out what was the best option/carrier to ship my 7 day glass candles after a customer placed an order for 9 candles! I was so stressed out my best friend sent me this video and after watching it, I feel that this can be manageable! My Etsy shop has been loosing money from shipping costs (I too was offering free shipping and quickly removed it) now I feel much more confident to adding free shipping to my Etsy! Decided to make a pirate ship account, I saved $3 on shipping using the pirate ship site!! Now, I am glad I didn't drop off my orders today. Hi! I usually do first class mail if it weighs under 1lb for wax melts, you can use USPS.com, Etsy or pirate ship for first class (it’s all the same price) and drop it off at the post office!

I may be wrong but did you forget to mention that for the cubic priority shipping, the box has to fit inside a Polymailer? When I was looking on pirate ship I saw this option and it was a bit confusing but was hoping you could clarify 😅
Hi! I’ve used plenty of boxes without a polymailer and was able to use priority mail cubic :) The only thing I forgot to mention in this video (but I mentioned it in my updated shipping video) is that for some reason they don’t allow boxes that are 4x4x4 or smaller

Can you use USPS Flat rate boxes with PirateShip, or (since that’s the boxes I have), should I just use USPS online for a slightly better price than at the post office? I understand that USPS online is cheaper than at the PO, but if you can use a USPS flat rate box on PirateShip, wouldn’t that be even cheaper than having to provide your own box with PirateShip? What’s gives the absolute minimum cost- using a USPS flat rate box with PirateShip (if that’s possible) or to use your own brown cardboard box (same dimensions) at PirateShip? Thanks!
So flat rate pricing will be the same on both usps.com and pirateship. (I had this wrong in the video) The only place where they will charge you more will be places like postal annex (if you have one near you) In some cases, using a flat rate box will be cheaper, and in other cases using a regular box with priority mail cubic (or regular priority) could be cheaper. Hey so I’m about to start off my candle making business and I was planning on put my candles in a gift box with some decor. So do I still need to put the gift box in a regular shipping box in order to ship it out ?
It really depends on the sturdiness of the gift box. If it’s a thinner box then YES definitely put it in regular shipping box. But if you can find a thicker gift box that is specifically made to be used as a shipping box, then yes you can use that!

what kind of printer do you use to print your labels from pirate ship??? pls help and when we put the label on it we can just drop it in the out going mail box in the post office?
I use a dymo label printer but you can use a regular printer with regular white paper! It’s a pre paid label so yes all you need to do is just drop it off :)

I print the labels from pirate ship, they offer priority cubic shipping as an option. And yes once you have the box packaged up and the label on, you can take it to the post office!

You pay for the label, but it’s up to you if you want to charge the customer for shipping on Etsy. If you charge the customer for shipping, it will go on to your Etsy account and will be deposited into your bank account later on, so you will need to use a separate bank account to pay for the label

Oh good! 😇 And I use pirate ship for multiple candles and you can put default box dimensions/weights for 1-4+ candles so all it takes it clicking that default setting! (Hope that’s what you were asking 🙂)

Hi, I have a question about the 3rd option of the flat rate packaging systems. Either the small or medium flat rate box, I resell on poshmark and some other outlets, and I have the prepaid labels "2 day priority", I could use one of those boxes correct? My family recently had a lot of candles come in, and I'm not that familiar with shipping fragile items. Any tips you could give would be greatly appreciated! 😊😊
So does it have to be a brown cardboard box or can you do cubic shipping with any candle box? for example paper boxes, black boxes, paper tubes, etc.? also, can you just tape your own handmade label and have the post office apply postage?

They probably would! The only way to know for sure it to get a box with those dimensions (or make your own box) and package it as you would (bubble wrap, packing paper, etc) to see if it would fit!

I don’t have a specific video on it but I just add the cost of shipping into my price. For instance my candles are $22 but I charge $29 :) Sometimes shipping costs more, and sometimes people by multiple candles and I save money on shipping, it all evens out for me! But I could definitely make a video talking about it :)

You have to pay for every shipping label separately for each order. In order to be able to ship from home and drop it off at the post office, you will need to get some sort of printer. It doesn’t have to be fancy or expensive, a regular inkjet or laser printer will work!
This information is goldenly priceless. Still in the process of forming my business. Soooooo much research. My question is what is the quickest & safest way to register your sole proprietorship? Thought about Legal Zoom, but found a lot of people had regrets. What advice do you have? Anything will be greatly appreciated.
As far as I know you don’t have to “register” as a sole proprietorship because it’s just selling under your SS. But you can get a DBA through legal zoom as a sole proprietorship, that’s what I did!

Hi there! Love your videos. How would you pack and ship a decorated pillar candle and still make it look nice and elegant without having it in a box within a box? Would you need some sort of "bed" for the base of the candle?

What if your candles are not in a vessel/container? Like a sculpture molded candle. Worried about it melting and losing shape
I think there's this wrap that keeps them cool you should look into it maybe it'll help i seen it before its meant to keep the candle cool.
Try research how they ship food

This was so helpful! I've never heard of Cubic Priority and it's fantastic! Do you just add a base amount to all of your candles for shipping then, to get the free shipping? And how do you determine the shipping amount? Based on your highest priced shipment?

For my mason jar candles i use regional rate box A for 3 candles or less. Regional rate box B for 4-5, Large flat rate for more than that

I spent an entire day trying to figure out what was the best option/carrier to ship my 7 day glass candles after a customer placed an order for 9 candles! I was so stressed out my best friend sent me this video and after watching it, I feel that this can be manageable! My Etsy shop has been loosing money from shipping costs (I too was offering free shipping and quickly removed it) now I feel much more confident to adding free shipping to my Etsy!
Decided to make a pirate ship account, I saved $3 on shipping using the pirate ship site!! Now, I am glad I didn't drop off my orders today. I am spending my sunday refunding my Etsy Labels and reprinting through pirate ship. I am sooo grateful for you :D

Hi! I usually do first class mail if it weighs under 1lb for wax melts, you can use USPS.com, Etsy or pirate ship for first class (it’s all the same price) and drop it off at the post office!

I may be wrong but did you forget to mention that for the cubic priority shipping, the box has to fit inside a Polymailer? When I was looking on pirate ship I saw this option and it was a bit confusing but was hoping you could clarify 😅
Hi! I’ve used plenty of boxes without a polymailer and was able to use priority mail cubic :)
The only thing I forgot to mention in this video (but I mentioned it in my updated shipping video) is that for some reason they don’t allow boxes that are 4x4x4 or smaller

Can you use USPS Flat rate boxes with PirateShip, or (since that’s the boxes I have), should I just use USPS online for a slightly better price than at the post office? I understand that USPS online is cheaper than at the PO, but if you can use a USPS flat rate box on PirateShip, wouldn’t that be even cheaper than having to provide your own box with PirateShip?
What’s gives the absolute minimum cost- using a USPS flat rate box with PirateShip (if that’s possible) or to use your own brown cardboard box (same dimensions) at PirateShip? Thanks!
So flat rate pricing will be the same on both usps.com and pirateship. (I had this wrong in the video) The only place where they will charge you more will be places like postal annex (if you have one near you)
In some cases, using a flat rate box will be cheaper, and in other cases using a regular box with priority mail cubic (or regular priority) could be cheaper.

Hey so I’m about to start off my candle making business and I was planning on put my candles in a gift box with some decor. So do I still need to put the gift box in a regular shipping box in order to ship it out ?
It really depends on the sturdiness of the gift box. If it’s a thinner box then YES definitely put it in regular shipping box. But if you can find a thicker gift box that is specifically made to be used as a shipping box, then yes you can use that!

I use a dymo label printer but you can use a regular printer with regular white paper!
It’s a pre paid label so yes all you need to do is just drop it off :)

I print the labels from pirate ship, they offer priority cubic shipping as an option. And yes once you have the box packaged up and the label on, you can take it to the post office!

You pay for the label, but it’s up to you if you want to charge the customer for shipping on Etsy. If you charge the customer for shipping, it will go on to your Etsy account and will be deposited into your bank account later on, so you will need to use a separate bank account to pay for the label

Hi, I have a question about the 3rd option of the flat rate packaging systems. Either the small or medium flat rate box, I resell on poshmark and some other outlets, and I have the prepaid labels "2 day priority", I could use one of those boxes correct? My family recently had a lot of candles come in, and I'm not that familiar with shipping fragile items. Any tips you could give would be greatly appreciated! 😊😊
When you use pirate ship, do you only weigh the boxes or do you weigh the boxes with the candles in there?
You always have to do the complete weight of everything, candle, packing material, box weight, etc :)
So does it have to be a brown cardboard box or can you do cubic shipping with any candle box? for example paper boxes, black boxes, paper tubes, etc.? also, can you just tape your own handmade label and have the post office apply postage?

They probably would! The only way to know for sure it to get a box with those dimensions (or make your own box) and package it as you would (bubble wrap, packing paper, etc) to see if it would fit!

I don’t have a specific video on it but I just add the cost of shipping into my price. For instance my candles are $22 but I charge $29 :)
Sometimes shipping costs more, and sometimes people by multiple candles and I save money on shipping, it all evens out for me! But I could definitely make a video talking about it :)

You have to pay for every shipping label separately for each order. In order to be able to ship from home and drop it off at the post office, you will need to get some sort of printer. It doesn’t have to be fancy or expensive, a regular inkjet or laser printer will work!
This information is goldenly priceless. Still in the process of forming my business. Soooooo much research. My question is what is the quickest & safest way to register your sole proprietorship? Thought about Legal Zoom, but found a lot of people had regrets. What advice do you have? Anything will be greatly appreciated.
As far as I know you don’t have to “register” as a sole proprietorship because it’s just selling under your SS. But you can get a DBA through legal zoom as a sole proprietorship, that’s what I did!
