Hey GuruBrew. You really know your stuff. I have a question on My Lenovo T420 Thinkpad. The laptop powers on fine. The windows 7 display comes on and then the screen goes blank. If I plug into an external monitor both screens display fine. ( Laptop screen comes on ) . I ran a Startup test pressing the F1 Key and when the BIOs screen came on the monitor worked on its own as well without the external monitor. I'm Stumped. Any suggestions. Thanks and keep the great tutorials coming.
I have thinkpad T61 and I'm not able to run the recovery. After hitting the thinkvantage button all I get is: ESC to resume normal startup. F1 to enter bios and F12 to choose a temporary startup.
I have a think pad like this but it turns on then 2 seconds later it turns back off. It wont come on is this a power cord issue or something else, I don't know what to do I'm stuck can you help.
Hi Steve. I dropped my Lenovo T410. (Gah!) Using ideas from this video, I was able to use the blue Thinkvantage button to get to the Startup Interrupt Menu. I tried F11 and the repair option seemed to get a bit farther, but I still eventually get the same 0xc00000e9 error. Would it help to try the F12 option? It takes me to a screen where I can boot from 3 different devices but I don't know if I should try that. Good idea or bad idea?

My ibm t500 would not boot after a severe lightning storm. It was not plugged in to any wall sockets, and it worked fine during the storm. But after turning it off and restarting it, all it can do is boot to a blinking cursor, and the little hard drive light blinks a few times before stopping. How do I fix?
Hi Steve, I have an IBM ThinkPad with Rescue and Recovery 3. I'm trying to restore the factory settings due to the fact when I power the system up it goes into safe mode and regardless of your seletion, it then proceeds to a blue screen and just cycles between the two. Now when I go to Rescue and Recovery, the recovery seems to stall between 4 and 20 minutes of running as it's processing 3GGEM1A0.IMZ and then returns once again to the blue screen. Any ideas or additional workarounds?

You can get some Antivirus programs loaded on a USB Flash Drive or install the ISO on a CD, pop in the CD and boot from the CD and it will scan a computers hard drive for viruses without loading up the Operating System. Good way to check a PC where a virus might be the cause of any booting issues.

I have a T61 that looks nearly identicle and I should point out the stupid Vista sticker doesn't tell you anything except that's what it came with from the factory. It doesn't mean Vista is currently installed so I don't know why you're using that as a reference. Moving along.. You didn't even boot in safe mode? Why are you running a recovery before attempting less invasive things first? The windows reinstall function is a last resort. If the slow boot was due to a hard drive failing, you're wasting a lot of time. Try safe mode first - if the computer is still booting slow in safe mode or still runs like crap while running in safe mode, the hard drive is fuct. If it runs fine, you can start cleaning it properly instead of wiping it essentially and losing the user's personal settings, themes, etc. This video bothers me and so does the amount of people asking for help. There's a reason why 80% of computer "techs" botch up and screw people. Let's go back to basics.
sometimes manufactures will put misc. drives in a package bundled together and will call it a name like care center . install all the driver packages and you should get it

Possible causes for this if computer is still working are the screen inverter or LCD/Florescent Tubes in the LCD.

Reinstall the Original XP with the XP install CD and install all the drivers from support.lenovo.com or Order a IBM T4X recovery disk from Lenovo.

i got a new hard drive and download the drivers from Lenovo, my OS crashed and that was the only way i could not throw my laptop away
